New Post - First Look

Hey guys ! Hope you're all doing well :)

Here is a first look at my latest blog post, which I'll publish tomorrow. In this one, I tried to write down my values and my ethical beliefs, not only to share them, but also to be held accountable, now that they're out there :)

Let me know what you think !

Your Patroncast for August is here !

Hey guys! Here is your exclusive Patroncast for August!

In this one, we have an interesting question: "what distro would I pick if I my company had employees", some good news for the channel, a quick debrief of my holidays, and reflexions on elementary OS 6, as I tried out the daily builds.

Enjoy!

Patroncast for July (just a tad bit late)

Hey guys !

Here is your exclusive monthly patroncast for July, with a few days of delay, since I wanted to try using Fusion to create an audio waveform visualization, but failed miserably to produce anything remotely useful after a few hours. So here is the patroncast in audio form, or as a youtube video if you prefer:

Enjoy ;)

First Look Post - Davinci Resolvs vs Kdenlive

I realized that I haven't yet talked about why I made the switch to Davinci Resolve, not in details anyways, so I wrote a small article about that, that you get to see in exclusivity before I publish it for good in a few days :)

This is going to be a new perk for all patrons, access to all posts on the website before anyone else :)

Just a quick reminder: the URL is public, so even if the article doesn't appear on the site, anyone with the link can see it, I'd...

Time to vote and ask your questions!

Hey guys, I hope you're all doing well!

Leave me your questions in the comments of this post, or through DMs if you prefer, and cast your vote using the poll below :)

Time for questions, and voting!

Hey guys!

I hope you're all doing well! It's time again for you to ask me your questions, and to vote on the various topics I'll be working on for next month :)

For July, I give you the choice between:

- VLOG: My opinion on Microsoft and Open Source vs Apps and Gear I use. The first proposition is a reflexio on the various moves that MS made towards open source and Linux, and how I feel about them. The second is a tour ...

May's Patroncast is here!

Hey guys! I just completed this month's Patroncast :) In this one, I talk about the quarantine being lifted where I live, how the channel has been doing and why the /e/ video isn't live yet, as well as my most recent gaming experiences, a question about GPU passthrough to a Windows VM, my recent conversation with Alessandra Castellani of Alecaddd fame, moving to PopOS! 20.04 at work, and maybe switching to 80% at work to get more time for the channel...

Give it a listen, and ...

Question submissions for May's Patroncast

Hey guys!

So, as the poll to define the subjects for May draws to a close, it's time for you to ask your questions for May's Patroncast!

The topics I'm planning to talk about are:

- The end of lockdown in France

- Channel and gaming channel growth and ideas

- Thoughts on Metro Exodus now that my playthrough is done

Time to vote for June's topics !

Hey guys!

I hope you're all doing well! As May comes to a close and the last videos are coming in (one today, and another one in 3 days), now is the time to vote on what I'll be working on in June!

What I'm proposing is the following:

- For the project of the Month, you get to choose between either Epiphany, the underestimated GNOME web browser, or Akira UX, a yet uncompleted project that has the ambitious goal to allow...

Here is your exclusive April Patroncast!

Hey guys!

Here is your exclusive April Patroncast! I really like making these, and I'm considering making them twice a month if I can find enough stuff to talk about (that shouldn't be a problem, I love the sound of my own voice).

This month, we have questions about my workflow for video editing on Linux, and about what I would and would not say to someone who has never heard about Linux before, as well as which distro i would recommend to someone who has nev...

What should I work on in May? Vote!

Hey guys!

As I'm finishing up the last video of April (should be live tomorrow), it's time for you to vote on what I'll work on next!

For the Project of the Month, your choices are:

- Lutris: a well know and loved game management system, and installer. You denied me the pleasure of working on it last month, so here's another chance!

- GNOME Web: this little browse...

Time to ask your questions for the April patroncast!

Hey guys !

It's time to let me know what you'd like me to talk about in the next Patroncast :)

I've got a few topics planned already, but I'd like to answer your questions, personal or otherwise, so fire up your keyboard, and ask me anything you'd like. It can be about the channel, Linux, youtube, myself, where I live, whatever!

Drop those questions in the comments of this post, and I'll answer them in a few days in the podcast :)

Some April Linux News and updates

Here are the sources and project files for my latest Linux news video for the first half of April.

Hope you're all dong alright!

Here are the sources and project files for my latest linux news video for the first half of April.

A bit cumbersome to make, this one... I had to re-record the screencast 3 times since OBS decided it wanted to downscale the video to 720p, and it took me 2 times to find what was the issue...

Anyways, I think it turned out...

On the PinePhone Video

Hey guys!

Here are the sources for the Pinephone video, as well as the latest Linux News :)

These were fun to make in 2 completely different genres. The Pinephone video was one of my first forays into "IRL" video with hardware to show.

For a first one, I think it turned out okay, if not spectacular. THe color correction needs some work, obviously, and the audio was a bit weird, since I didn't sound proof my office enough, and I don't have any...

The April Poll Results are in!

So, after your vote, here are the topics I'll be working on for April 2020!

For the VLOG, the choice seems to be "De-Googling", so I'll be taking a tour of where I'm at, which solutions I decided to go with, and what I still need to find alternatives for. It's going to be an interesting one, especially since it will force me to take a look around at what is still "non-private" in my various apps and services.

For the project of the month, Planner...

This is our soon to be regular poll to let you decide on which topics I'll be working on during April, so here are the main ideas. You'll have a day to vote, and I'll work on the 2 topics that gathered the more votes :) Don't hesitate to pass the link around!

First ever Patroncast !

Hey guys!

Here is the first Patroncast ever :) It's going to be a new perk for all patrons, from 1$ and up, that i'm going to make at least monthly. It's a way for me to answer your questions, or questions that people have asked on the channel, and to give my opinion on a few things, Linux news or otherwise.

You can get to know me a little bit better that way :) Most of them will be in audio format, but if I have something specific to show, I'll put it in vid...

Sources and rushes for the latest Linux News

Hey guys !

Second post of the day, here are the rushes and project files for the latest Linux News video.

It's once again a Davinci Resolve project, I tweaked the formula a little bit, using new titles and animations to try and make it look a bit more fluid.

It also brings back 60fps to the video, by popular demand :)

I tried to switch wallpapers for each day I talked about, and recorded a bit of extra footage on each to be able to animate the bac...

Here are the sources and project files for my latest GNOME 3.36 video! This project is a bit special, since I created it using Davinci Resolve, and not Kdenlive.

KDE 5.18 LTS

Hey guys,

I played with the newest KDE Plasma release, 5.18 LTS, and it was really nice. KDE is maturing nicely, and the defaults are getting better and better. I used KDE Neon for my tests, and everything ran beautifully, and smoothly, on my desktop and my laptop.

This desktop is pulling me more and more, and although Ican't see myself switching from elementary OS just yet, Plasma definitely has the potential to make me wonder if I should try and stick with it a littl...

Rushes and files for the latest Linux News

Hey guys !

Hope you're having a good 2020 so far! I finished editing this video, and I'm getting the hang of the Linux news now (it was about time).

It took me little time to put together using Kdenlive 19.12, which has some annoying issues, such as clips disappearing from the timeline at certain zoom levels, the "show background" option being broken in the title editor, and I got a random crash just adding a third audio track.

Still, the rendering time...

Video files for "elementary OS 5.1 Hera"

Hey guys!

This one was a bit hectic to make! I had to double time with the Linux News and this one, in a single day, from the Matebook 13, and from the freezing Veranda in my new flat, while it's being repainted.

I managed to get one of my displays out of the boxes and use it to record comfortably, but since I didn't have any internet access, I had to use my phone as a hotspot, so I burned through all of its data cap in a single day...

It was a good one to make, although these are pretty time consuming, with all the research, the recording, and the animations for each day of the month. Video rushes and project files for "Working on Linux - Week 1"

Hey guys!

Here are the video and project files from my latest video, as always, edited in Kdenlive. It mixes smartphone-shot video, as well as screen capture, and a bit of manual animation, which took me a bit of time, Kdenlive isn't fantastic at that stuff...

It was partially edited at noon on my Matebook, and I finished the editing on my desktop tonight. It was a fun one to make, I hope you like how I created it :)
