I don't mind the storm, really. The weather decided to hit The Peak Of Misery on the very day that we decided to get gym memberships again. I believe it was fortunate that the worst weather stuck for the day when the motivation to get started was also at peak, so lower motivation can be saved for the days when the weather is nicer. My partner doesn't quite understand the logic.

The toaster

We got a beautiful pastel green toaster as a gift on christmas, and now getting jumpscared by the toaster is a daily occurrence. We love it.

Floral wallpaper pattern - variations in different colours

I wanted to try if I could make something that makes a repeated pattern - it's not completely perfect or seamless, but I eventually figured that it's enough and I'm happy with it. When I started tweaking with the colours, I couldn't choose which one I liked the best, so I ultimately decided to share them all!

Hot gel

Heat gel spicy cuddles are pretty great, actually. He tries to keep me from getting it on my face but cannot stop me.

New year's rituals

There is no telling whether the jackdaws are a sufficient agent for destroying the Gävle goat, so we had our own ritual. I neglected to get one in time, so we couldn't find a decently-sized straw goat on a last minute notice - but fortunately there was a package of tiny christmas tree decoration miniatures still on the discount rack, and it was perfect!

The goat has been sacrificed, our duty has been done. Here's to hoping that 2024 will be good!

Christmas break time!

I'm not very religious, as a matter of fact I'm only culturally christian, and I don't think I'd celebrate it at all if it weren't for the people around me choosing to celebrate. But I cherish christmas vacation nonetheless - getting to spend a whole week and a half going completely feral because all my worries are next year's problems.

Extra comic: Gender optional

This is something that just crossed my mind. The moomins definitely influenced me a lot as a kid (being a finnish kid from the 90s) but it just occurred to me that maybe they, and the language I grew up thinking with had also played a part on why I don't bother to go out of my way to make the foxes explicitly gendered. I didn't grow up thinking that it's necessarily a vital component to who someone is as a person.

My first painted figurine!

I tried my hand at painting a Warhammer figure - was trying to get a sort of purple marble/icy frozen feel to it, and didn't quite hit the mark. . I knew I was starting out with more confidence than skill, so I decided to sacrifice this one as a "trial run" before picking up on painting the ones I actually wanted to play with. Nostalgia

I think the key to a happy life is to just try living in a way that you can be nostalgic about later when you're old. Time gilds and polishes memories, making them all pretty in the distance even if you don't always see how nice it all is right now. Nothing will ever be perfect, but ultimately the best thing you can count on still having at the end is the memories, so best to just make sure that they're good ones.

The game in question was actually Frostpunk - which is coloured with stark, icy blue-grey shades, which unfortunately didn't work in any way in fox comic colours, as there was no contrast to the foxes' blue and green.
