sunday WIP stuff!! concept art and thumbnails for episode 1 and episode 2!

the first image is environmental concept art, since i realized i hadn't developed the environments much at all, so it'd do some good to make them more interesting and fleshed out! especially for later episodes that focus more on the main living area the miniseries takes place in.

the second image is concept art for the fight sequences in episode 1! namely thinking up various moves the characters could make in the immediate situation to later fit together into a watchable sequence.

general update! putting patreon on pause as i decide what to do next

plans for animation going forward!

this break has allowed me some necessary time to step back and re-assess what i wanna do next in regards to animation, and i have a few ideas!

first of all, i wanna re-structure episode 1 of the miniseries. i've had a habit of just jumping into projects and working on them continuously instead of phases, which works for music videos but has really bit me in the butt as far as an actual cartoon goes. so one of the things i'll be doing is creating a full and proper animatic of the episode...

chipping away at what i boarded! i'm gonna try and figure out a way to get myself to work consistently this week because i'm still going much slower than i'd like, my ultimate goal for this project is to get 10 seconds of animation done a day but i'm getting less than 10 seconds done per week currently, so something's really gotta change if i wanna get this thing out within the next year.

nothing too crazy this week! i've mostly been practicing since i just got a new drawing monitor to help my hand hurt less when i work! namely, the last monitor was the 2019 xp-pen 15.6 pro, which required you to press weirdly harder than other art tablets in order to register a line at all. this started to really hurt my hand over the years, so i finally replaced it with a nice huion tablet and my stamina for animation has increased 10 fold! what used to hurt my hand after only an hour won't ...

got the intro sequence (mostly) done! that said, something i've realized is that working at the pace i am currently, this thing's gonna take forever to come out, so i've come up with a few plans!

firstly, i have to change the way i think about animation for this little cartoon, i'm used to animating constant motion which just isn't realistic at all for a 10 minute short, so i need to break out of that expectation for myself, practicing more limited animation, like other cartoons do!
