A Buck to the Face - Spice Up Your Life

Sure, I'll be adventurous. I'll try a restaurant that I've never been to before that serves a cuisine I've never tried. I may not have any idea even how to pronounce most of the menu items and they don't have pictures on anything. What could possibly go wrong?

...You'd think I'd learn after the sixth time something like that happens.

Coriander Cumin is my new favorite male support character. But before anyone says anything - I am aware of all the famous cooking show host cameos i...

Moral of the Story - Flutter Brutter

Greetings,

Today, let's examine the morals presented in "Flutter Brutter." One of which is how to not fall victim to parasitic people, the other is why you shouldn't be a parasite. Both courses carry heavy implications for yourself and those around you. While getting rid of a leech or putting forth effort into something you're uncertain of seems like more effort, you will actually save yourself a ton of trouble in the long-term.

Additionally, there were two sub morals that I f...

Donut: "You want me to come on for an episode about an artist that has trouble finding a job and a place to stay...Are you trying to say something, Brawny?"

Brawny: "Not really. I just thought that Zephyr would hear the message better if it came from a kindred spirit who actually knows how to work. Besides it's not like I don't have the same problem."

I don't mind helping a friend. But communication and permission is important and I need to draw the line at selling suggestive ar...

Home Stretch Challenge - Choice of Strength (final month)

Greetings,

Between my work schedule and the difficulty of last month's challenge, we really don't have anything to show for it. I was going to make a fun video of playing with my nunchucks again. And I still will. But I didn't want to delay this update any further for those who were waiting for an update.

This will likely be the easiest challenge out of all of them. Thanks to everyone who has kept with it this long. But regardless of whether or not you've participated, I encourag...

Moral of the Story - Applejack's "Day" Off

http://grandbronygala.com

Greetings,

Let's examine "Applejack's 'Day' Off" from a few different angles. Firstly, the difference between Louts' and Applejack's problems. This includes their common ground, when we're likely to fall into them and how we can avoid them. Then, how that all ties into the main message of the story, which is about both utilizing the outsider's perspective to help solve problems we've gone ...

Hands off that keyboard, Sweetie Bloom!

I get it. Sometimes I spend too much time with my writing and editing. Sometimes I lose track of time. But I don't see how that's justification for blowing my door off. I'm busy enough as it is. The last thing I need is to add home repair to my to-do list.

So far this season there have been a few episodes I wasn't initially fond of. A...

http://grandbronygala.com

Greetings,

Today, let's take a look at the duality of the moral presented in "The Saddle Row Review." This one, I believe comes within a duality that was not fully represented within the episode itself. If not carefully covered, the application of this lesson in the wrong scenario can leave you worse off than you were at the start. However, although the danger of this duality was not expre...

It's not often I interview people. I prefer to write reviews or motivational speeches when I'm not writing stories. I'm starting to believe that part of the reason for that is that the interviewee doesn't always answer the question that I asked.

Before anyone asks; I did not overlook the "Pulp Fiction" reference. I just couldn't make it work. Within the episode, the gag was too brief, ther...

Moral of the Story - A hearth's Warming Tail

Greetings,

In this edition, I'd discuss how we view and handle the events in various times of life - past, present and future - and how our outlook on these situations can effect each of them. Thus showing that while many people treat them as separate entities, or even disregard one or the other; they are, in fact, connected. Additionally, viewing the stages of time as anything other than connected can make all the difference in how much control you have over what happens to you and how th...

It's things like this that are the reason I'm afraid of heights and stay straight-edge.

Sometimes I forget that there was a time in this series that I didn't like the songs. I'm still not sure if the songs got better or if it was an acquired taste for me, but I found myself enjoying the music in this a lot more than I usually do. But of course, I'm also a sucker for chorus and orchestra.

Thanks to Tyandaga for the cameo:

Moral of the Story - Newbie Dash

Greetings,

In today's installment, I examine the lesson presented in "Newbie Dash" and how I'm certain this is one of the more commonly misinterpreted messages by the fans within the series thus far. Where people have been saying that the episode presented the idea of it being okay to tease others, I believe it's more about what we should do when we find ourselves on the receiving end of that teasing - how to handle it and how we can learn from it.

Yep. I will fully admit it. In my excitement to get the perfect action shot, I definitely forgot to factor in the fact that the Wonderbolts might have a wind cone shortly behind them while flying at possibly hundreds of miles per hour and maybe I shouldn't have been so close. The tinnitus is just starting to clear up. Unlike Rainbow Dash, I can admit that, because I know that making excuses and trying to overcompensate for it will just make it look worse than it already is. So take that, Rainbow...

Moral of the Story - No Second Prances

Greetings,

"No Second Prances" gave us a great view into the importance of sincerity and how it plays into making friends or forgiving enemies.

I know I talk a lot about forgiveness on this show. But I haven't delved exclusively into the topic since "Brony Debates - Villain Redemptions." Apart from being a very difficult gift to give, we can easily trick ourselves into taking the easy way out - forgiving someone without actually forgiving them.

In this video, I try to point...

Make new friends, they said. Just be yourself, they said. It'll be easy, they said. Well they forgot I've got a personality like the result of rusty-nails' and sandpaper's drunken one-night stand.

This episode was hilarious and had a very interesting moral to boot. But I really wish I could figure out if Trixie was trying to end herself or if she was just being unwise as usual.

...I don't like Trixie. Her ego and bumbling frustrate me.

Also, she was NOT right in "Boast Busters....

Non-physical Result - Choice of Strength Contest (month 3)

Greetings,

The contest rolls on with a slow month in April. This month's goal was to try something new that wasn't necessarily physical, but could still stimulate your mind or benefit your health in some way.

Be sure to congratulate the two returning participants for this month:

Story Edge, who got some good practice on a twelve-holed ocarina.

Buddhist Brony who took up crochet. Even I had to take the month off.

Moral of the Story - Gauntlet of Fire

Greetings,

Today I'd like to discuss what it means to teach through our actions and combine the things we've learned as it was presented through Spike, Ember and Garble in "Gauntlet of Fire."

Although I stressed the fact that this type of learning is very difficult; it is also possible to lessen your own trials along the way. By knowing and observing those around you, you can learn from their experiences as well. You can gain an understanding of cause and effect and learn a great...

They said I was crazy to teach a photography lesson in the Dragon Lands. But I can't think of anywhere else where the rocks form like that naturally. Plus the dragon migration had already happened. How the heck was I supposed to know Dragon Lord Torch would have to step down? I didn't even know there was a Dragon Lord! Or that he looked like the Bewilderbeasts from "How To Train Your Dragon 2"?

Moral of the Story - On Your Marks

Greetings,

"On Your Marks" showed us a lot about how to follow up on discovering your talent, especially those that are geared towards helping others. With that in mind, I'd like to talk about what it means to expand on what you can already do. As well as the consequences for failing to do so.

Some people have called me a jack of all trades. Although there are a lot of things I have learned how to do, I wouldn't call myself particularly good at any of them. But that's just from a...

I'm all about trying new things. Some people would say I've become a jack of all trades. However, something I can definitely say I'm not talented in is anything pertaining to music. I can sing if I have enough time to learn and get good. But that's about it. As for playing an instrument? I've tried to learn enough instruments to fill an orchestra and it's never worked. It doesn't look like cAPS had a real grasp on the concepts of fencing either. Literally.

Moral of the Story - The Gift of Maud Pie

"The Gift of Maud Pie" was a silly episode. But it had an interesting moral that we don't often see played out in life. One that probably runs deeper than what's initially visible. In this edition, I talk about what it means to be truly generous. I also talk about the effect it can have on your life as well as how neglecting this can negatively effect those around you.

There are things I love doing. Some of these are writing, photography or hanging out with my friends on the rare occasions that they invite me. There are things I hate doing. Such as being in large cities. Sometimes these things cross over each other. But I do my best to adapt, even if my best isn't that great.

Moral of the Story - The Crystalling

Greetings,

Welcome back everyone. Here's to another great season. Although I wasn't keen on the story, I saw a lot of really good things within the episode's lesson. In this edition, I focus primarily on the two major umbrellas of learning styles that people often fall into - learning through study and learning through practice. I also discuss on how we can end up like Starlight Glimmer or Sunburst through not balancing how we study and the consequences that can come as a result.

You see everyone? This is why you don't make alicorn OCs. It always ends in a disaster. Also yes, I'm addressing the show and the fandom equally here. Also yes, that magic blast did sting pretty good.

The Warmup Results - Choice of Strength Contest (month 1)

Greetings,

Thanks to those who participated in the first month of this contest. Although I'll admit I was a tad deceptive on the purpose of The Warmup, it still served its purpose. Though the set of fifty used to be my warmup, it took me a year to get to the point where that many reps of every workout plus a full body stretch was a warmup. Additionally, I would never ask someone to do something that they couldn't do. Only to try their hardest. The effort was all I wanted to see. Not some a...
