Birds the word, and the word is rabbit hole

Todays rabbit hole is seeing who covered the Trashman's classic song Surfing Bird, that you may know as Birds the Word. I knew the Cramps and the Ramones covered it, but I found this cover by a Russian artist, filmmaker who made a video for his cover. He past away a few years ago, but I thought this strange cover from the other side of the world of an american proto-punk song made me smile. I hope it does for you too.

Podcasts. A question and a update.

I originally planned to do one podcast a month maybe two if if I was lucky. so far I'm enjoying these and I've been doing one a week for the past 2 months.

I'd like to keep up this pace but since I tend to release videos on a Thursday I'm thinking about moving the release date for the podcast after next week's to another day of the week. I'm leaning towards Monday or Tuesday and it may not be consistent for a few weeks. What do you folks think about that?

I'm also thinking abo...

Raspberry Drops ... Early link

The new video drops tomorrow, and it's a video about drops.

As soon as it is finished rendering on YouTube, you can watch this early.

This story is about making Raspberry Drops, and the origin of the term "Blowing Raspberries" that actually has a connection to Raspberries.

I like to hide an inside joke in most of my videos. The Tied Dyed one has a bluegrass cover of a Grateful Dead song, to pay honor to the Tie Dyed shirts so popular for the people who are fans of that ...

A DC rabbit hole.

This morning I woke up early and did not want to disturb my wife. So I stayed quiet an re read jl8. Quite a few new pages have been drawn since I last Read it.

it's a comic where the children versions the Justice league of America all go to elementary school together. It is surprisingly well done. They even make the background color of the pages look a little yellow so it looks like it came out of a Sunday newspaper. It is formatted that way too.

Batch two tie dyed.

So I attached it longer and lost the taper on the spirle. Added a lot more food coloring. Just a different brand that is darker. I also put in white buts, but they absorbed the adjacent colors.

Today's unsuccessful rabbit hole.

Today I'm trying to figure out where the flags of agincourt ended up. Before WWII the 523 year old flags were taken down for their protection during the war. They were thread bare at the time and were hanging on Westminster Abby.

I have a pre WWII photo In a book that shows hanging. They are no longer in Westminster Abby. I can't find them them on line, which is weird as most museums in the UK document their collections well on line.

Luke, go down the rabbit hole.

I have discovered that there is a person in Tennessee that was given the unfortunate name of Luke Sky Walker. What was his parents thinking when they gave him that name.

His last name is Walker his first name is Luke his middle name is sky.

In any event, in this town in Tennessee, there is now an arrest warrant out for Luke Skywalker. So of course Mark Hamill has to comment on this.

he refers to what is the sequel nobody wanted to see and nobody will go to see.

Editing a video on making tie-died candy

Well tomorrows candy will be tie-died colored based on a request on a video from Hercules Candy in Syracuse NY (if you don't watch those, you need to start). I'm trying to make it look like Terry's shirt.

I made the candy yesterday, and they came out fairly good. I will get better with practice I suspect. The flavor is "Fuzzy Navel" which is an drink made of peach schnapps and orange juice.

The trick is trying to find appropriate music. I know somewhere in my collection I ha...

Today's rabbit hole

Today I've been wondering how many escapes are crimes have been committed with a rubber mask meant to look like somebody else. This was the plot of every Scooby-Doo episode I ever saw. The thing that led me down this rabbit hole to find that it's more common than you think was the CNN article.

Tie-dyed candy.

Apparently in a video from a few days ago Terri from Hercules candies suggested I might be able to make tie-dyed hard candy. Was a challenge posed by one of their viewers. So the past couple of days have been trying to figure out how to do it. Darius told me what colors of tie-dye she likes and she's told me her favorite flavor for this also making it a challenge. She wants it flavored like a fuzzy navel the drink. I have no idea if this is going to work out.

Why are grapes called Foxy

I got a few posts from the YouTube world, and I love the YouTube world. It lead me down another rabbit hole wondering why the concord grape flavor is called foxy.

I love it when reality goes to the unexpected.

It is because of Foxes. The early explorers who were trappers of furs had their noses closer to the Fox than most, and they realized that these wild local grapes smelled like foxes. Apparently in a Foxes scent glands they excrete Methyl Anthranilate, the grape flavor. So the...

My sholder

I've pulled something in my shoulder. It happens every now an again. It's my right shoulder this time. It does not effect pulling the sugar on the hook, but it does for pulling rods of candy, or at least it does a few hours after I pull it. Darn thing is flaring up and making editing this video I'm working on (Coffee Image Candy) uncomfortable. I'm going out of town for a few days, I'm hoping a few days off will make my shoulder feel nicer.

Thanks again for being a patron.
