I have some WIPs today. Not too much though. I've been having a bit of a rough time these past few days, but I managed to get some sketches done and one of them colored. Anyway, here they are, I'll have more on Wednesday.

October 2022 Artwork Week 4

Hi everyone.

Hi Deluxe Tier,

Here's updated WIPs for this week's art.

1. Erza Sketch. I added color and went ahead and rendered it a bit. I think the texture and colors of on the metal armor came out well. I need to work a bit more on the face. The three patches of color at the top are the color scheme I was going for: pale yellow, a dark and desaturated blue, and a saturated red. It's a triadic color scheme. Art Tip: Mapping the Face

Happy Art Tip Tuesday everyone.

Here's a method I use for mapping the faces of my characters. I think it's an easy method for remembering where to put the features, just halves and thirds. Even characters that use the same method can look very different, as seen with Poste and Flores. Poste has a cuter looking face while Flores has more of a mature look. 

I have some tips I can make for designing a character with a certain feeling (cute vs mature). I think I'll continue there...

Hi Deluxe tier,

Here's some stuff I worked on these past few days.

1. Goth Roommate WIP. I did a little clean up and rendering all over.

2. Lady D WIP. A bit of rendering and color adjustments. I also forgot she had black roses on her dress and wears black gloves, so I added them in.

Art Tip: Drawing the Head in Perspective

Art Tip: Constructing the Head

Happy Art Tip Tuesday, everyone.

Here's a tip for constructing the head. The head can be made up of two basic forms, a flat sphere for the cranium and a wedge for the jaw. This is a good base for adding details on top of as shown with my OCs.

Also a side note, I'm going to try to bring back Flores. Flores is actually her last name. I'll reveal more about her in the future.

5-7: GhosterBuster Poste. Also since Halloween is around the corner, I had the sudden idea to draw Poste as a GhostBuster. I thought having the top of the uniform open would make a fun drawing....

September 29 Update

Hi everyone.

Happy Thursday. Just have a few quick updates today.

First: I'm working on painting a new comic page and have two artworks in progress (Ivy and Poste) for this upcoming weekend. I'll have previews tomorrow, same time as always.

Art Tip: Face Plate Method

Happy Tuesday everyone,

Here's a tip I use when drawing faces for quick figures. It's a start, more detail/structure can be added later, but I find that this method helps with getting a feel for the placement of the eyes and mouth at different angles.

Give it a try if you're up for it. You can share your art on the discord if you're feeling brave or suggest a new topic for next week if there's something you'd like to see.

Just another short update today.

Art Tip: One-Point Perspective Practice

Hi everyone.

Here's some suggested practice to improve one-point perspective. I made some examples as practice for myself as well.

I sort of intended level 1 to be easier than levels 2 and 3 (going up in difficulty). It's also more geared toward making full artworks with backgrounds rather than just figure drawings.
