You may have seen me working on this design on Instagram and I thought this version was so cute as a coloring page! There are lots of details to fill in and I tried to add as many different types of vegetables as I could.

The next plushie!

It's been a long time since I made any art specifically for The Popcorn Parade (TPP), but I haven't forgotten about it. In fact - I just started working with Makeship to make another plushie!

Exploring my love of plants in my new video!

Okay so this is a totally different kind of video, but I've been obsessing over my plants these past few weeks. I saw a video about how if you put a plant on a plank, it will encourage it to grow really big leaves.

So that's what we're doing in this lil studio vlog - re-potting a plant with a plank! 

I'm pretty excited about this because I think I'm going to start a new plants and pottery series where I talk about some of my plants and also design and create planters for them...

Digital Download - boho inspired prints

You may have seen me working on these earlier this month, and now I'd like to share them with you! :D I've been trying to design some artwork to put at the studio since my walls are so bare, and these are 3 boho inspired posters I came up with.

I made these as sketches to eventually translate onto big canvases one day. Hopefully I'll find some time (and inspiration) to finally paint and make them a reality in the studio.

Smol sketchbook dump

I feel like I've been in a bit of a dry spell with drawing. I've been mainly just doodling ideas for ceramic projects, but I did manage to do a painting on the weekend!

I'm playing with the idea of making vases, hanging planters and wall planters. I absolutely love how hanging planters look, but I'm also scared of hanging any kind of planter from a hook or on the wall.

Do you use those kinds of planters? I think I will make  a few anyway because floating bird and bee planters...

Manufacturing of a mug - the ups and downs

So here's the follow up of the guinea pig mug and how getting samples went. It definitely had some highs and lows 😅

The beginning

Making samples started with sending the manufacturer specifications of how I wanted the mug to look that included sizing, details and colors. They then got to work making a sculpt that would then be used for the mould.

Manufacturing guinea pig mugs

So a looong time ago, I asked on Instagram if people would be interested in my work if some of my pottery were manufactured instead of handmade. I was really worried about asking this since I love handmade stuff, but I needed to look at other solutions if I wanted to make this mug more widely available while also being able to focus on new work.

Some new ceramics I've been working on!

I got back to the studio this month and finally made some new work :) I don't think I've really finished anything since before Christmas, so this has been a really productive month.

I managed to load two full kilns of work for a total of 73 new pieces! And one of my goals this year is to actually keep track of how many pieces I finish, so I can get a nice view of what I accomplished by the end of the year.

First studio vlog in the studio + studio tour

I've been at this studio since the end of summer, but I haven't had time to make a studio vlog until... now! I was so busy through autumn and preparing for the holiday season, and the start of 2023 had other priorities I needed to attend to.

But FINALLY! A vlog is out and also I get to show you the state of the studio :D It still needs work, but it's come a long way since 6 months ago.

The evolution of a logo

I've had a bird as my logo for over ten years :O Even I can't believe it saying it now. 

Back when I was in school and making my first portfolio, I had an idea to make a little orange bird as my logo because my nickname has always been Birdie and my favorite color is orange. So it just naturally fit :)

Fast forward to today, and my logo is still the same little orange bird! With a few variations around the crest/tufts on the top of its head :)

Tote bag sneak peak!

I'm working on some new tote bags and I've been testing out the samples! I got 3 made with slightly different specs and fabric to see which one works best for groceries. 

I had a really "smart" idea to make a bag with a bunch of inner pockets for organization, but when we were using it, the pockets were kinda useless since we just dumped everything into the main compartment :p The inner pockets also made the bag a lot heavier and bulkier which I didn't like.
