Forest Fortress

Hello everyone! For the 1st map of October here is Forest Fortress.

This map heavily leans into the idea of it being a player-owned keep, featuring:

  • Six rooms with a class archetype's light motif: Wizard, Warrior, Paladin/Cleric, Rogue, Bard and Druid/Ranger.

  • A meeting hall for players to discuss their plans.

  • Archives for note keepers and lore enthusiasts.

  • Training grounds, a small tavern and a personal forge. View Post

Archway Portal

Hello everyone! For the 2nd map of September here is Archway Portal.

I imagined the center of the stone circle being connected to the portal, maybe you place in it a magical gem that acts like a key and the portal slowly opens up, which creates some encounter ideas like the party having to defend or interrupt the process.

Initially I tried to make this map using a similar perspective to the recent 2025-09-29 19:16:31 +0000 UTC View Post

Steppe

Hello everyone! For the 1st map of September, here is the Steppe, another great collaboration with Michael Ghelfi Studios!

Steppes are mesmerizing, and pretty challenging to convert to a battlemap, at first you may think "well, its just a lot of grass and rocks scattered around!", but a big part of what m...

Shattered Graveyard

Hello everyone! For the 2nd map of August, here is the Shattered Graveyard! This map started out with just the idea of a path through rough terrain and a few bridges, but as I worked more on the shape of the mountains and cliffs it really felt like a building would fit in nicely. I really liked the idea of this tomb standing there through the ages, surrounded by ruined graves with a few readable names of heroes of old as the cliffs slowly collapsed, a perfect place for ghostly encounters; I ...

Tree of Seasons

Hello everyone! For the 1st map of August, here is the Tree of Seasons! Inspired by the idea of fey courts divided by the four seasons, I tried to create a place where they would meet. It was a fun challenge to have the different color schemes come together in a visual pleasing way, and I think it worked better than I expected in the end!

This could be a place of political importance as members of the fey courts meet, but it could also be used as a shrine - maybe not even fey court rela...

Tiger Shrine

Hello everyone! For the 2nd map of July here is Tiger Shrine. Really enjoyed making this one, I initially got inspired by the color scheme and then saw some cool stone statues while looking for references, but I was also nostalgic about WoW's Mists of Pandaria recently so that may have played a part in creating this map as well.

I tried to create the feeling of a forest glade and added these spots of brighter light everywhere, simulating sunlight crossing through the treetops,...

Waterfall Shrine

Hello everyone! For the 1st map of July here is Waterfall Shrine, one more map inspired by the experimental poll votes!

The combination was:

"Exterior/Outdoors, Mountains, Fey, Warlock, Altar/Shrine/Temple, Ruined, Spring, Water."

My interpretation of it was:

"A ruined fey shrine in the mountains, spring themed with a river/waterfall"

The fey motif is subtle and it focus on the crystal, it could be a fey s...

Bakery

Hello everyone! For the 2nd map of June here is Bakery (at a cliff's edge... for some reason). I was inspired to make a bakery map, but when I looked up bakery maps plenty of other great map makers had already made one, so I thought "how can I make it a bit more unique?", and I'm not sure why but I chose a cliff's edge/floating island visual, I think it was just fun to think of a very fantasy building that shouldn't really be there but is for some reason. If you'd like something a bit les...

Sea Druids Enclave

Hello everyone! For the 1st map of June here is Sea Druids Enclave, once again, a map inspired by the experimental map poll:

The combination was:

"Building, Coast, Elf, Druid, Workspace, Secret, Autumn, Water, Fey"

My interpretation of it was:

"A secret coastal even circle of druids."

I confess I'm often a bit disappointed on my sea-themed maps, feeling like they don't stand out, but this one was I'm pretty happy w...

Orc House

Hello everyone! For the 2nd map of May here is Orc House, another map inspired by the experimental map poll:

The combination was:

"Exterior, Mountains, Orc, Barbarian, Natural Environment, Secret, Winter, Air, Fey Realm"

My interpretation of it was:

"A solitary home of an orc barbarian in the mountains, winter themed, nature focused"

It was really enjoyable to work on a orc barbarian themed home, ...

Labyrinth of Roots

Hello everyone! For the 1st map of May, here is Labyrinth of Roots. This map was inspired by both the request for more purple/blue maps, and another combination of elements from the map poll, which was: "the secret throne of a powerful nature-themed dragon", I turned the throne into somewhat of a nest within the roots, especially with the "Core" variation available Hero of the Realm patrons.

The Labyrinth is not really meant for players to get lost as its design is fairly simpl...

Mossy Forest

Hello everyone! For the 2nd map of April here is Mossy Forest, inspired by a request for a map with Feywild and Shadowrealm variations made by someone on the Discord group! -- I decided to go with a very painterly style for this one as I really enjoy it a lot in nature-focused maps, and then I experimented making it somewhat monochrome with a lot of green, so it naturally turned into a mossy forest as things went forward!

I hope you enjoy it, thank you so much for your support as always...

Bathhouse

Hello everyone! For the 1st map of April here is Bathhouse, it has a main public pool, three private ones, saunas, massage rooms, dressing rooms and a reception. This map was commissioned and one of the main requested features was "mimics everywhere", so the Hero of the Realm tier variations are nightmarish stuff; but drawing these guys was surprisingly fun, I tried to make a mix of creepy and goofy and I think it worked out! They are also available as 12 tokens for you to move them around. View Post

Lilies Lake

Hello everyone! For the 2nd map of March, here is Lilies Lake, really enjoyed diving into a very painterly map again! -- You can use this map for an encounter with small boats, maybe having the party fight monsters coming from the water; or say that the water is actually shallow enough to walk but the characters have to be careful with where they move to. I included canoe tokens for Hero of the Realm patrons that should fit the style of the painting!

I hope you enjoy this map, thank you...

Corrupted Paladin Order

Hello everyone! For the 1st map of March, here is a dungeon map inspired once again from the experimental poll: the temple of a corrupted paladin order!

This map was a lot of work but I think it paid out in the end, next one will be a simpler map so I can make it in time. :)

The combination was:

"Dungeon, Desert, Celestial, Paladin, Home/Lair, Corrupted, Spring, Earth, Shadow Realm."

My interpretation of it was:

Earth Elemental Cave

Hello everyone! For the 2nd map of February, here is another map from the experimental poll: Earth Elemental Cave.

The combination was:

"Thematic Room, Mountains, Goblin, Cleric, Religious, Sacred, Autumn, Earth."

My interpretation of it was:

"A sacred cave for goblins in the mountains, worshipers of an earth elemental."

Once again taking inspiration from the experimental poll, this map was very fun to mak...

Autumn Glade

Hello everyone! For the 1st map of February here is Autumn Glade. A small clearing where a bard would find magical inspiration, or the lair of a autumn fey creature!

Experimental Poll: Results

Thank you everyone who voted on the experimental poll! It was a success! I really enjoyed seeing all the different combinations of ideas. This map is already inspired by one of them!

The combination was:

Experimental Map Poll

Hello everyone! An experimental map poll is now available for members that will define the 2nd map of February, the intent is to gather information of what maps you would like to see made in the future. It is likely that I will factor in both the majority of votes of certain sections as well as individual combinations of ideas that I find cool, either way I think...

Experimental Map Poll

Here is the experimental map poll for the 2nd map of February! The intent is to gather information of what maps you would like to see made in the future. It is likely that I will factor in both the majority of votes of certain sections as well as individual combinations of ideas that I find cool, either way I think it will be valuable to know what kinds of maps are more popular and requested. If this works well I'll make more in the future, perhaps monthly or bimonthly, if it doesn't I'l...

Frozen Cliffs

Hello everyone! For the 2nd map of January, here is Frozen Cliffs. Something very unfortunate happened with this map: the short version is the file got corrupted yesterday and that means it only has gridded versions, detailed story below:

Autumn Grasslands

Hello everyone! For the first map of January, here is Autumn Grasslands! I saw some beautiful art of orange grasslands with dark stones and it really inspired me, I don't think I 100% nailed what I was going for to be honest but I like the final result, I hope you enjoy it!

I'm pretty late this month, it's storm season where I live and power surges are a problem, so I'm a bit behind schedule! 😐-- Already working on the next one though.

Rocky Grasslands

Hello everyone! For the last map of 2024 here is Rocky Grasslands. I experimented blending a bit of the painterly style with some line art, I think it is a nice balanced mix! The main rock has natural stairs that could make this a "stage" for a crowd in the open area, a great place for speeches... or the show of a bard caravan.

Thank you so much for another year of support! I hope you enjoy this map, and I wish you all a great 2024! :)

Desert Ore

Hello everyone! For the 1st map of December here is Desert Ore. I didn't notice how long it has been since I've made a desert themed map until now that I'm posting this one! The idea started out by just playing with rocks and dunes to find cool designs, but then I tried to add a bluish hue to the rocks and I really liked the color combination of the sand and the blue minerals.

I think this map fits a narrative of conflict over a recently discovered node of magical resources, perhaps it ...

Patreon Changes, Character Commissions and Thoughts

Hello everyone! This post is about a few things I would like to talk about and also about things I need to talk about, starting with the latter:

The Pay Per Creation model is going away

As some of you may know if you follow other creators that also use this model, Patreon is retiring the Pay Per Creation system of payment and that means I will need to eventually change my Patreon page to the monthly subscription model, I don't really have plans at the moment to when I'm going to...

Runic Forest

Hello everyone! For the 2nd map of November here is Runic Forest. Not a very tactical map, but one that creates a pretty scenic encounter in a glade surrounded by runestones. This place could be a sacred druidic forest, a shrine to a nature god, or a passage to the fey realms. When it comes to the painting process I tried to really work on the lighting values in this one as a challenge, and I'm especially happy on how the trees look in that sense!

I hope you enjoy this map, as always t...

Barbarian Feast

Hello everyone! For the 2nd map of October here is Barbarian Feast. This may be the smallest map I've made to this day in grid size, that's because I wanted it to be very focused on the theme of a feast! Hello everyone! For the 1st map of October here is Rocky Cliffs. Though it may not reeaally look like it, this map was very inspired by Grady Frederick's environment pieces (amazing stuff, check it out), especially the "house" variation: a lonely warm cabin near the cold stormy sea.

Raging River
