Breastfeeding experiences change as a baby grows. When babies turn into baby toddlers they seem to not want to ever sit still! Even toddlers need skin to skin contact. It releases the hormones that allow for abundance of milk production. My kids hate wearing jammies so in the morning we get our skin to skin cuddles releasing prolactin and oxytocin while breastfeeding. Babies eye is on the mend and she’s feeling like her happy usual self again. 🥰💕

Ok so I’m all healed now but can you see the scar?! Luckily I’m able to breast-feed now without any further discomfort. It looks as though the nipple injury scar will be sticking around for a while though.

Breastfeeding my 3 year old while singing and telling stories is a bedtime routine to give some quality time just mommy and one child at a time. When getting a nipple injury it can be hard to heal it because of the constant saliva from breast-feeding. It’s important to care for the wound as your doctor suggests I’m using antibiotic cream which I must wash off before feedings.

Breastfeeding throughout nipple injuries can be very painful and I still haven’t found anything to alleviate the pain from this. My toddler moved a certain way when she was breast-feeding and her canine tooth pierce the skin of my nipple causing a nipple injury as shown in picture. It is now swollen and very painful when she breast-feeds but it is on the mend. Ok so let’s talk some truth. When it’s just me alone at home with my kids to prevent infections and other breastfeeding problems, Ive learned that getting the girls ready while having their milk ready makes it a lot easier. Combing through tangled hair getting dressed and trying to get two toddlers ready at the same time can be challenging. As babies grow into toddlers they prefer to go back and forth from each breast especially if they are exclusively breast-feeding as this gives them access to more milk and it quickens the let down for baby to get milk as fast as possible. When a baby gets hurt or needs attention and they just want the comfort of mommy sometimes the breast is all they need. It is comforting and nourishing and sometimes this is all it takes to calm your baby down. I love the way she holds onto me like she never wants to let me go . these precious moments go fast because babies grow so quickly so enjoy them while you have them.
