_Artemis Status Update

This week has been a good one. Lots of tightening up, polishing, reviewing. I finally got around to completing the soundtrack for Artemis. There are a total of 60 or 70ish tracks. I also created playlists for certain sections of the game. That one was a kick in nuts. I spent a few hours working on it, bam got it going. Then started to update areas of the code that would utilize it. Worked beautifully. Next morning, updated the replay code to play nice with the playlist code. Did nothing out o...

_Artemis Status Update

I just drank a large caramel macchiato, triple shot and now I'm having a small cup of soda. The caffeine is coursing through me like crazy right now...

As most of you will learn, I'm a perfectionist. I care a lot of what I put my name on so I tend to do as much cleaning, prepping, reordering, etc as I can. Last week has mostly been cleaning code and revisiting stuff I put aside. I di...

Bonus Round! - Silver Image Test

There's something about the coding life where you're just going at it and at it, like a labyrinth it seems. Trying to make something work. Then, you ease in that one piece of code like a Jenga piece, seeing that very tall tower sway, butt puckered as it eventually stabilizes and actually doesn't topple! Or in this case crash....The minimap feature of the game successfully passed! And now I can very g...

{i}*sigh*{\i}....welp, the beta test of the game returned more bugs than I expected. Of course right where I assumed. _Artemis features an app that the protag uses to navigate during certain sections of the game. My first attempt at it was obviously quite successful (It was only about 10-15 lines of code. I only had two locations on a single floor to code and that was months ago when I first written that part. Fast forward to a few weeks ago when I got to this part of the project.... I put of...

_Artemis Status Update

Hey everyone!! The first of many great news I'm posting. Really this should have been posted on Monday (Yesterday 2/23). But I got carried away working on some of the code. I'm going to make Mondays my progress updates for every release. I figure everyone hates Mondays, so it would be something to look forward to, I hope!

Anyways! Today I just sent off a very close-to-release version of the game to my trusted friends. They've been supporting me since the beginning and will be bug huntin...

Hello World!

Slightly long post, or not. I'll try to keep it bite-sized.

Any who, this week has been very exciting! I started this project back in August 2020. I knew nothing of Ren'Py, but had a decent background in coding (more as a hobby). So I spent much of August learning and figuring out what story I'd be telling. Much has changed from the initial click of  "Launch Project". From a very standard UI, stiff animations, bad lighting (albeit still. but I'm working on it!). To somet...
