Better late than never (part 2)

It's been said that "an artist never finishes a piece, merely abandons it." In most cases this means that the artist will look at the work, try to decide what (if anything) can be done to improve it, then concludes "aah, I could spend another year on this thing and it probably won't look that much better."

Almost the moment when I posted the May Q & A video and wrote that I then had less than two days to finish the May Pic of the Month, I had the nagging feeling I wasn't going to have time to finish the POTM before June 1st, especially since I had to go back to work that day, and I have a ten-hour shift today (May 31) which practically guarantees I'll have no time to make any appreciable progress on it today.

May 2018 POTM Poll

I was browsing DeviantArt user sudo5348's gallery, which mostly features a giantess heroine known as "Ultrawoman H" who fights giant monsters. It gave me the idea that I want to do an illustration in a similar theme: what if one of my OCs grew to giant size to fight kaijuu?

But I couldn't decide if I wanted to use an existing character, or create a new one. And if an existing OC, which one? So I thought I...

March Pic of the Month - Brigitte

A few months ago, as you might recall, I ran a Call for Requests for Pic of the Month (POTM). I received several good suggestions that I could (and have) used for POTMs for a few months.

One of those requests was for one of the Overwatch babes; D.Va was specifically named. (I was surprised it wasn't Zarya, the muscular Russian.) So I looked over some pics of D.Va, but wasn't inspired by anything I saw.

February 2018 Q &A

It seems I just realized how quickly the end of the month is approaching; and I have no questions to answer for the February video.

I have an idea what I'll do if nobody submits a question, but I hope it won't come to that. (It means I'll have to clean off my messy, messy work desk.) If you have a question about me, my characters, my techniques, almost anything, ask away!

My plan is to shoot the video on Tuesday the 27th (the last day off I'll have from my job before March.

Didn't expect this

So I post a pic of Tetsuko and Sonya in an intimate moment, adding the news that a sexual relationship between the two will be canon. And the reaction I get to the drawing centers on the muscle tone in Sonya's arm!

Well, here it is. And I always feel better when I can get it posted before the last day of the month.

Health update

Well, I'm happy to report that I'm feeling much better; I think I'm about 95% over this bug that I picked up.

I still think part of it is my annual allergies - I like to joke that I'm "allergic to winter" - but prolonged exposure to the intense cold of the past two weeks (because my job requires me to work outdoors, mostly after sunset) didn't help. My doctor even says he found some pneumonia in my left lung; he put me on some antibiotics to knock it out, and they seem to have worked.

I'm still fighting off the "bleurgh" that's been tormenting me over the past week and a half, so you'll notice two things missing from this video: my face, and my voice.

I'm doing text slides to answer last month's questions, which turns out to be just as time-consuming (if not more so) than simply reading them. But it's finally done!

My apologies for the delay in getting it posted, and I hope you'll enjoy it. One of these months I'll be over this bleurgh, and I'll be back to inflicting ...

(NSFW) Not happening today

I was planning to shoot the December Q & A video today, but my voice hasn't gotten any better. (Almost tempted to attach a voice memo from my phone to let your hear what I sound like now, but you fine folks don't deserve that kind of torture.)

Next target date is Tuesday, my next day off. (and Wednesday.) But if I don't sound better by then, I may just post text responses to the questions I got for the video. I so wanted the last video for 2017 to be an actual video...

Ugh

Feeling lousy - sinuses draining, runny nose, sneezing, coughing, fatigued. I'd almost blame it on allergies, but my allergies usually don't lay me out like this.

It started night before last. I had intended to shoot the Q & A today, but I just don't have the energy. Plus my voice sounds even worse than usual.

I have Sunday off (Dec. 31), so I'm hoping I feel well enough by then to get the video shot, edited and posted before the year ends.
