I plan to return to a basic routine following my grandmother's memorial service on the 19th, producing the usual content we're all here for and returning to commissions in progress. I appreciate y'all's patience as I find my footing again, I know it hasn't been the first time things have been derailed here.

"Sundown" Pages 1-2 Sketches

I wrote this in December of 2022 when I was staying with my grandmother in her home and taking care of her throughout winter. The content of "Sundown" was too much for me to explore, instead we got comics like "Behind the Curtain" and "Gatekeeper." It is 5 pages, and I intend to complete it in November of this year. Important update

Many of you know I have been in Florida the past 2 months overseeing things for my grandmother who has been suffering from Alzeimers for several years. This year her condition rapidly deteriorated, and my mother and I have been doing everything we can to help her, from me caring for her full time in winter to unfortunately having to have her moved to a home in Pensacola a few weeks ago as her brain continued to decline. Having completed the tasks needed for the interview post today, got midway through an important commission when I noticed Ellen is acting up again.

The third page of Part 2 ended up being my favorite so far. I need to adjust lighting/saturation but oh boy yay, basically done. The others are coming soon. 

Also, I am overhauling Part 4, I came up with a way better, even scarier scenario. I couldn't work with the cliche feel of the sketch drafts so far, but I am so glad y'all are enjoying the ideas I keep shitting out for that, haha. Okay, that's all for now. 

The Chosen One: Part 2 -UPDATE-

Like a Disney plus exclusive after the main blockbuster, The Chosen One has already made the rounds in theaters. The concept is that he has the endless misfortune of picking up supernatural customers on a near constant basis.

This is not a detail I expect casual reddit readers will catch even though I do provide high resolution versions of my comics there. I do intend to keep it as subtle as possible, but it's a crucial little detail. That panel has so many layers already. Viv turning her back on someone she doesn't know as well as she thinks, and implicitly trusts. The implication that Ellie has her own key. Ellie being "invited" in and not immediately dispatching her "host." Gosh, I just fucking love that panel....

Good lord, Viv.

I always think I'm 100% team bite size Ellie until I bust out panels like this.  

Hands Commentary

One of the challenges I've set myself to in this comic is diving into rendering the hands in each panel before anything else. While I still have my references visible on the monitor, I am finding I am having to lean on them less and less, nor having to have complex base sketches for the hands. Viv's hands with the water bottle and Ellie's "Ta-da!" hands were 95% drawn from memory without having to glance at any refs or my own hands. This is incredibly promising. This was a totally unexpected gift, she busted this out in like a day and it's simply delightful. Her take on Elk goes fucking hard, y'all, haha. I am beside myself.  

I've been blown away by the community coming together to push The Chosen One hype and to support the massive effort I've been putting in lately. FEELINGS

I know this was a dangerous move, but I just overhauled both pages 6 and 7 and I am so glad I did because good god, it's just so tender and sweet. I can't believe I pulled it off. Substantial updates coming tomorrow.
