Crazy busy

Hey everyone,

Sorry I don't have a new chapter up yet, but I have good news!

I'm finally at a point where I can get back into the swing of things work-wise.  Today was an exhausting day, though.  I got two different deliveries, including a washer and dryer, and a new lawn mower.

Since I had a riding lawn mower that I was unfamiliar with ( a zero turn) I had to learn to use it.  Then Melli rode it.  This second pic is of Melli trying the riding lawn mow...

Ludus group pic progress, oh my!

Now we have some color!  The art is not done, but I love this so much I might make a poster or a print for my office.

Do you guys think I should start offering stuff like that for sale?  I wouldn't make much money off it and it'd be a lot of time to set up, but I think Melli would be up for the challenge, and I want to reward folks who are here for the ride.

Office WIP

Hey everyone!

The new office is a messy rat nest right now, but it'll come along. :)  Luckily, after setting up the desktop, everything was still working.  Yay.  I've stripped down my UPS from the unit with a backup to just the UPS unit, since it functions more like a glorified super surge protector than a legit UPS.

I thought it might be fun to show ya'all this WIP, and the finished work area in about a month or two.

What theme do you all think I should us...

Crazy times

Hey everyone,

I hope you are all staying safe.  Melli and I have just moved, and I'm working right now using a camping chair, my laptop, and my phone as a hotspot.  It's less than ideal.

Maybe I can share some pictures of the new place soon, like Patreon only stuff about building stuff for writing research?  We have some land now...and a well...in a rural area...so social distancing is not a problem.  What /is/ a problem is pretty much everything else.  ...

Jake's story, ch 6

He had watched people turn into zombies before, so Jake immediately knew what was happening to him a few minutes later.  His fingers hurt.  He felt hot, feverish, and wanted to lie down.  With a heavy heart, he ignored all the screams of frightened people around him, pausing only as he passed a construction worksite to grab a pipe and brain a new, weak zombie as it attacked a middle aged woman.

This sucks, he thought.

As he walked down the stre...

Jake's story, ch 5

Jake ran for a really long time, so long and so fast he created enough distance sometimes to hide and circulate his ki.  There was a limit to how many times he could do this, and he not only got diminishing returns, the ability also ate away at his body and soul.

He was still alive, though.

The acid burns on his back were a problem.  He’d gotten a few cuts too, but nothing major like the acid wound.  At one point a fire attack had taken some of his c...

Jake's story, ch 4

Jake mechanically cupped his hand under the drip of water in the cave and patiently waited for at least a small pool to form before taking a drink.  Then he repeated the process.  He’d made this place his regular lair because of the water.  Most of the other water in this world was visibly filthy or tainted.  Drinking in this cave didn’t agree with his stomach and didn’t taste good, but hadn’t killed him yet either.

His clothes were rags now, and...

Jake's story, ch 3

The horizon seemed to turn.  One moment Jake and his team had been on earth, and the next, the sky was dark, with a chill wind.  There was barely enough light to see by, but it was red-hued, and shadows moved in the distance.  The air smelled awful, like a mix of smoke, sulfur, and rot.

Jake’s palm hit the ground as his stomach flip-flopped and his senses reeled. All around him, others were also being affected by the change.  One woman was even on the ...

Jake's story, ch 2

You might have noticed by now that I'm writing with a different narrative style than I usually use.  Honestly, it's been a lot of fun to experiment with.

Jake was trying to hide it, but he was beginning to feel truly freaked out.

He’d never seen the Warren Company, nor Allied American Military do anything in such a timely manner before, much less jointly.  The speed and efficiency that the FOB administration had displayed in re-gear...

Jake's Story, ch 1

Okay guys, this is what I've been working on in my free time for a while.  It's heavily influenced by Wuxia/Xianxia, Shadowrun, and a bunch of other stuff.

I'm not going to tell you that much about it, just keep editing and posting chapters.  In a few hours from this post, 6 chapters of this story will be up.

If you choose to check these out, please let me know what you think.  Since I only wrote this story for fun, it won't hurt my feelings if you think it sucks a...

Quick news on print FS2 updates, and a surprise!

Hi everyone!

First off, I'm going to be deleting old FS2 posts...because I forgot to do so before.

oops.

Second, I finally have the formatting for print FS2 books, so I'm going to be putting that together, and ordering copies as soon as I can who Patreon patrons who should be getting them.

Last but not least, I will be posting 3 or 4 chapters of my secret, in-my-spare-time project for you all to read and see what the hell I've been working on instead of...well, any...

Sorry for delays in new chapters

Right now there is a lot going on.  I'm still writing, just slowly.  Hopefully there will be a new chapter out either today or tomorrow.

I appreciate that you've all been patient.  At least I haven't gotten any angry pms about it.

I also appreciate everyone who picked up First Song Book Two and left a review.

Moving is a bear.  After I've moved, I think I'm going to celebrate by writing another Delvers LLC 4 chapter.  I've been thinking about Mar...

Lots of things going on!

Art has begun on my secret project, the story I've been writing in my free time.  It's going slowly because I don't have much free time. :)  I'm going to post a few chapters at once fairly soon.

I am in the process of moving, so everything has slowed down business-wise.  We will hopefully be ready to start working even faster than before soon, but stuff like dealing with Comcast to get the damn internet set up has been a headache.

Another chapter of Asgard Awakeni...

Reflections.

This blog took me a while to write, because I kept writing from the heart, but I felt like some of what I was saying was too cliche or cheesy.  It was probably fine, and all the flaws were probably all in my head, but sometimes the words don't come easily for the most important things I need to say.

I've had to start over a few times, still writing from the heart, but trying to keep it from being a 4k word essay that goes nowhere.

(You can just add " B085B95NQB" after the "dp/" in any regional Amazon store and it'll turn up.)

On the subject of rewards:

I will send out the ebook files to everyone who should get them via Patreon rewards on the 8th, the day the book launches.  Sending them early may get me in trouble with Amazon, so...not gonna risk pissing of the 'Zon.

I won't be able to order print books for everyone who will be getting on...

First Song 2 final word count

Hey everyone!  The final word count for First Song 2 is right around 120k words, so it's a pretty large book.

I'm sending the compiled manuscript off to the editor today!  I'm making some last minute edits right now.  Thank you to everyone who read along and helped me make the story the best it could be.

I'll be switching over to Asgard Awakening 2 immediately, and working in a few chapters of Delvers 4 while I work on it.

My time might be limited for a few...

First Song 2 will be done today, tomorrow at the latest`

Hi!

This is a heads up that I already have another chapter of First Song 2 done, but I really want to have both ending chapters complete before I post so I can put them both up at the same time.

After that, I will need a day or two to get everything straight and sent to the editor, then I will be working on Asgard Awakening 2 with 90% of my time, Delvers 4 with 10% of my time, and I'll still be working on my side project during my off time.

I'll be posting chapters of my ...

Hey folks!

I'm taking off a couple days to handle personal stuff because I've been all-in with work for a while.  Realistically, I'll probably go back on this within 24 hours, but sometimes I need to pretend to have a life. :P

First Song 2 should be done in...5 days...ish.  Several chapters will probably all come out at once.

Writing workshop - quick advice - taxes

I have been working since 2am on taxes today.  It's currently 10am my time.

Believe it or not, tax stuff has been quicker and easier than ever this year for me to get my hands around, and I have some advice to pass along to current or wannabe authors.  My advice is geared toward folks in the US, but is likely relevant anywhere.

#1 (and most important): Get a separate credit card for business.

Gift #4  - This is a puzzle that will be a steampunk business card holder!  I'm super stoked, not only for the fun of putting this thing together, but the fact it can be my business card holder at conventions for the rest of my career, and it will always have such a cool story attached!

Thank you so much to the reader who sent this along.  Later this year, I'll take a pic once the thing is complete, and/or at Dragon*Con (or another con I attend). :)

First off, you all are insanely generous and supportive.  Second, this is a game changer.  At least every few days lately, I've had to make time to try moving my body because I sit at a desk all day.  This doubly sucks when it's cold outside, because my lungs suck and I'm always worried about getting sick.

One of you crazy Bastards sent me a Wicked Edge, and damn this thing is just...awesome.  I can't wait to really learn how to use it!  This system is one of the kings of the non-motorized sharpening systems out there, and should help me get knives to a polished, vorpal edge.

I had actually bought a really shitty ergonomic mouse a while ago because the writing was on the wall about carpal tunnel and other wrist injuries.  I'm on the computer from the time I wake up until  the time I go to bed, and if I were to get a wrist injury from working too much, it would seriously screw up my life.
