GOD, the amount of planning I did for a room that appears ONCE in the comic. Really played myself with this one.

It's not really elaborated upon much, but this chamber basically exists to balance the water pressure between itself and the Historia Hub. The stairways get lifted up and seal up the main storage sections, the screen lets the users pick out what kinds of things they want to experience ahead of time... it's a lot of fun to work on stuff like this!

Always love any page that lets me further solidify the friendship between Leon and Luca!!! Though I feel bad for the sisters, since they should have realized at this point that Luca had gone to the Dark Side.

Working on this page, especially that last panel, has reminded me that I need to be very considerate with my use of space, especially with dialogue.

This was a page I was really excited to work on. I LOVED putting little background gags back in the precursor comic, Cat Comixz, so this was almost nostalgic.

Also trying to visualize how painful the sound of Ms Shepard yelling is was a fun challenge. Making sound hurt requires a bit of creativity.

During the writing process, I was a bit worried about some of the repetition of things for this chapter. We'll see how it all reads once the chapter's done, but at least it gives a good chance for Leon to start getting suspicious about what the twins are trying to hide...

This page was one of my favorites for the script of this chapter. While the security team are pretty minor characters in the grand scheme of things, I find it really fun to give even characters like that little moments to shine. To me, it helps to make the rest of the world feel more alive.

Ever since I developed the concept for a Charlie's Angels-style team of lady buttkickers, I've really fallen in love with the concept more and more. In fact, while they were set to just be an obstacle during this chapter, I've ultimately started to develop more stuff for them to do in the future...

Again, one thing that tends to cause me trouble while thumbnailing is figuring out the best angles for stuff, particularly when it comes to action. Visual flow can be a TOUGH thing to maintain during segments like this. Sometimes I have to remind myself to be willing to get messy with my thumbnails, and not worry about everything being done perfectly the first time through.

One thing I feel like I haven't taken enough advantage of in comic storytelling is the mirroring of certain poses or angles to callback to prior moments.

Unsurprisingly, the /twin/ sisters are more alike than they might like to admit, and this moment is a culmination of that.

Continuing with clever visuals, I LOVE any chance I get to make the word balloons actively a part of a scene. Not to get all Comic Artist about this, but any time I find particularly clever ways to make full use of my medium is SUCH a treat.

That also goes for the switching between perspectives that happens throughout. I'm sure I've mentioned already, but the first draft of the story didn't have Simon showing up in this chapter until the VERY END, maybe not even until the Chapter 3 Inte...

While working on the outline for this chapter, I REALLY wanted to work in a line regarding Leodonus. Something about standing on the shoulders of giants.

Of course, then I remembered that this is a cool sci-fi future where you can summon hardlight creations in an instant. I've given myself an excuse to do the metaphorical /LITERALLY/.

Any time I come up with stuff like this, it's genuinely some of my favorite parts of making this comic.

As usual, with exposition-heavy scenes, I'm always looking for ways to spice up the visuals. Originally, I had ideas to go more cerebral while the two are arguing, but having something that Leon could see - in this case, Trinity's holo version of Leodonus doing a flying elbow drop on Ms Shepard's - was just TOO GOOD to pass up.

Oh, that's also a big point: Leodonus! I'm often looking for more spaces to put him in during this chapter, since he's kind of impor...
