February Sketch Compilation

Horizon

This is a commission from last year that I still haven't post the full-resolution version before on my Patreon, partly because I kinda forgot about it, and also because I wanted to keep this as backup in case I couldn't make two art posts in a month for any reason. This month I was quite burnt out and only able to draw around 1~2 hours per day, 4 hours on good days. I used to draw around 6~7 hours everyday, I wonder what happened...

I think this time my process with 3D has gotten more streamlined. For this one, since I already have the background model ready, I was able to start with the characters right away.

I'm going to put characters from the DC universe like Zatanna and Wonder woman, in a series called "Peace Wolrd", where the heroes no longer have to fight crime but can just enjoy themselves and "serve" the public.

Commission Work

Commission - Vegapunk Lab

Thanks to RachWrites for commissioning this art with me! Although I'm a fan of One Piece myself, surprisingly, I have never draw any characters from the series. In this scene, Nami and Robin are "trapped" in Vegapunk's Lab... maybe for research purposes. Their outfit are also based on the latest Vegapunk arc.

Pet Walk Training

New pets are always need to be trained. Ms Manager would be in charge of training them, but she doesn't have to do the job manually herself of course. They got a walker robot that have 4 arm, one leash for each arm. But for training purposes, two arms are gonna be used to handle the trainee. In this exercise, the trainee can observe her seniors to see what kind of discipline and behaviors are expected for every pet to have.

I think my drawing time this month was mostly spent on finishing commissions. A month passed I only made 3 commissions, I think all the overtime spent on Blender 3D, deteriorate my drawing proficiency. I ended up spending longer time on finishing commissions.

Second POV

Urbosa (Commission Work)

The process for this one is pretty straight-forward. The client specified that Urbosa to be in this pose, so I just need to design the Vah Naboris divine beast as the top part.

First, I would the rough sketch drawing on how I want it to look like. Then I create the 3D blocking just to undertstand the shapes and structure more. Halfling City

Bonus art on 2nd image. Creating my own reference in 3D means it helps me a lot redrawing the same character in different angle. I think I might try making comic again. One of the pain of drawing comic is drawing the same subject multiple times from different perspective, which is now greatly eased when I can make 3D reference, and use 3D for the background. Didn't manage to finish anything this month 😢

I didn't manage to finish any personal art, commissions, and Patreon art. I got too caught up working on the artwork on the 1st image. It's the biggest artwork I have been working on so far, it started from June, still far from finished. I never mentioned about this artwork before because I feel like it's not related to the type of content I'm posting on Patreon. But since it totally affected my ability to make art for this Patreon, I'm just gonna post the full res of the progress here anyway...

August Sketch Compilation

This month I didn't enough time to make a dedicated Patreon art from the Wonder Woman series because this month I got fully occupied with commissions and other things. Last month I was so sure what I was gonna keep doing Wonder Woman content for Patreon, but my plan always end up failed. 

Now I feel like maybe the most consistent and "sustainable" long term plan for my Patreon is to post my commission works here, since they take a lot of time, usually a week per complex commission....

This is a commissioned work by Rachwrites of two original characters than in really cool and fun setups. This was made before I started learning how to use Blender, if I have learnt Blender for this one, it would've really benefited me to draw all those saddles in the background. But in the end, I still quite satisfied and proud how this one turned out

New Girls on Aidenke's DC Story

This is a commissioned work by Aidenke, but I'm so proud of this one because I feel like I've levelled up from my previous work! The biggest contribution to levelling up with this one was implementation of Blender, 3D software for constructing the composition and the background.

If I were to do this with my old workflow, I would've been too intimidated with the perspective accuracy of the whole composition, that I wouldn't dare to put as much detail diversity as it is now.
