Chapter 195: History Starts With a Scandal

[Sorry for the delay on this chapter. Last time I said the writer’s block was gone, and it actually is still gone. The creative juices are flowing nicely. Unfortunately, life looked at that and went, ‘Nope,’ and I promptly had a minor bike accident. Nothing too serious, just a fractured leg and a nice collection of bruises. I lived. Woo.

At least both my hands are fine. could’ve been much worse. Plus, I got some unexpected time off work out of it, so… huehehehe.

Chapter 194: A Totally Normal Feast

The instant the timer struck zero, I felt the change. Another prismatic tide of divinity rolled across the field, and in the very same breath, the world drained into gray. The leaves that had been tumbling from the sky halted where they were mid-fall. The wounded monster stopped bleeding, every drifting bead of ichor locked in place exactly as it had been.

I took it all in without blinking, caught somewhere between awe and attention. Even Denis was staring wide-eyed at the frozen scene....

Chapter 193: Efficiency Had Its Privileges

Progression:
Current Points: 152
Current Rank: #1
Current Contestants remaining: 11
Time Remaining: 00:03:54

I looked at the screen again and grimaced despite myself. I’d half-expected this, sure, but the way the hours slipped past still caught me off guard. The last twenty-four hours had blurred into a relentless cycle: hunting Blessed Monsters, getting hunted in turn by red cores working...

Chapter 192: Blessed Monsters Are a Renewable Resource

[Phase Two, and the main body of this arc, will kick off next chapter. I had a few extra plans, but they’d only end up delaying the core of the arc, so I’ll be wrapping this part up soon.

Anyway, happy reading! (And sorry for the delays, life’s been doing its thing, and I’d rather give myself a little extra time than burn out while pushing chapters.)]

It was the same glorious spectacle, repeating year after year without fail. Prodigies from every leading sec...

Chapter 191: Floofy Wolf Cuddles Are a Valid Reward System

It read to me like a little puzzle. If I understood this correctly, there was no way I could reach them while deliberately hobbling myself.

The attacks came from a potent fire mage, or at least someone employing spatial craft to launch explosions from a distance. It could be a team, a deliberate pairing like Denis and me. It could also be one of those preformed alliances that came into the Colosseum already arranged. I’d considered that: history had examples of teams who were allied o...

Chapter 190: The Space Between Alive and Not

With the suddenness of the magic circle flaring to life, the very first thing I did was clamp one hand around Moru, the other around Denis, wrap both of them in my mana, and slam my feet into the ground before launching us upward. Even then, the blast still caught us. It was an enormous eruption that punted all three of us through the air like discarded cloth dolls.

I hit a row of trees hard enough to snap them clean through, felt the breath jolt out of my lungs, and still wasn’t actu...

Chapter 189: Handicapped But Hungry

[Also, one more thing about this chapter: the events here actually take place before the previous interlude. I had to redo the chapter a bit with that in mind. I tried to summarize those events while moving forward, but it really didn’t work… at all. So yeah, I’ll be rearranging the two. I might even put that interlude after the next chapter since it ties into things from there too.

Anyway, happy reading!]

Okay… I take that back. Maybe handicapping myself l...

Interlude 3.24: [Snežana Flameclaw]

The entire arena drowned beneath the roar of the crowd. It was a living sea of noise. The massive center, empty just moments ago, no longer stood barren. The instant the participants vanished, the very ground had transformed, swallowed by an illusion that hosted the battle for the crown of the last eight standing champions.

The Colosseum itself had birthed the vision. It conjured heart-pounding, breath-snatching scenes that pulled every gaze toward the spectacle within. Illusions flicke...
