WIP Diary: FluffMawnster

Back at it again with another round of new commissions, this one for FluffMawnster on twitter! She wanted a sculpture pretty similar to the large, round fish lad I finished a couple of weeks ago, but of her equally round fox character! I really liked how that sculpture came out, so I'm certainly not complaining over making a similar one. Right now I'm just building mass and trying to get the belly fully balanced, no difficulties thus far though!

WIP Diary: YCH for Bobert 2

I MANAGED TO FIX THE BELLY

Initially I just wanted to say "fuck it" and covered the whole thing in another layer of apoxie sculpt, but I realized that would make the resulting sculpture incredibly heavy, unbalanced, and just plain huge. So, I decided to hack and shear through the cured apoxie I'd already slathered onto it, and began cutting away a bunch of the expanded foam. After I'd cleared away a good chunk of my previous work, I began layering tin foil and regular sculpey...

WIP Diary: YCH for Bobert

Now, this is what I'd like to call a "bit of a fucky wucky". I genuinely had no idea that the foam ball would expand THIS much in the oven, and the layer of apoxie sculpt over it was just thin enough for it to burst out. Thankfully, I cleared it with Bobert and I'm adapting the foam's organic expansion into the final sculpture itself, but I'll be lying if I said I wasn't sweating bullets when I first pulled this thing out of the oven. They wanted a bust of one of their other characters, this one with a cute little symbiote friend! I gotta say, sculpting goo detail is fun and something I need to do way more often.

Another old commissioner back at it again, this time Eric wanted me to sculpt up their big minotaur lady, Ankina! They've been wanting a sculpture of her for a while and they finally took their chance. I gotta say, I'm really liking how the hair's looking on this one!

WIP Diary: GoldenBeef

Now this is a blast from the past! Beef actually commissioned me for a sculpture similar to this way back in 2017, it feels kinda nostalgic sculpting him again in 2021. Honestly, you can never go wrong with a big, beefy himbo! 

WIP Diary: Mae

Now THIS one's been a long time coming, and I'm really happy to see how its turned out. This is a sculpture for @duxwontobey on twitter, the winner of my 3k follower thingy (Patreon does not want me to say a particular word here)! She's been nothing but sweet and understanding throughout the entire process, so I'm hoping I can really blow her socks off with the paintjob. 

WIP Diary: Isolfr

Woooo, I'm back from BLFC, time to update Patreon! And boy, do I have so many updates to post. This here's a commission for Isolfr on FA, they wanted me to sculpt up a huge, hyper dragon! I don't have a lot of experience sculpting quad characters, so this has been a lot of good practice for me. I gotta say, it was super satisfying getting it to stand up on its own like that, massive balls have always been my savior in these sorts of situations. Also, scales? Tedious!!!!

It's been a long while since I last sculpted a human character, so this has been an interesting challenge for me! Most of the sculpture ended up pretty standard, big bellies are always good and appreciated in this house. I found sculpting the head to be the hardest part, naturally, human faces are difficult...but I think it came out alright in the end! A Massive Ass(gore) for Kirs

This was a special gift for Kirs, one of my best friends in the whole world, for being a generally awesome person and to make up for a horrible kerfuffle with USPS. I'm happy with how this sculpture came out though, very thick and meaty. Also, this is a great peek into some of the final revisions that go into the finished piece. Our commissioner wanted a little more salt and pepper on the body hair in order to magnify the sculpture's grandfatherlyness, so we had some back and forth on how much should be added! WIP Diary: Flamingnaughts Commission

Hey, it's time for a brand new WIP Diary series, hooray! This one's for my latest commission, courtesy of @flamingnaughts on twitter! I'm gonna be sculpting an absolutely t h i c c grandpa tanuki, it's gonna be great.

IT'S FINISHEDDDDDDD

Man okay, I was so in the zone I forgot to take some in-progress photos, sorry!! Basically, I did my usual painting thing, but after I was finished with that I started putting together some flower arrangements! I got a bunch of cheap plastic flowers from Joanns and started cutting them up, tying them together at the stems with florist wire and shoving em where they needed to be.
