Okay it's almost weekend :D
The Tudor Party is almost over... ;) Well, not today :D I'm planning a couple more retexes. I'll pick the second and third place from these you chose in our recent poll :)
Meanwhile, I decided (instead of answering the people's requests to finally create a multi piece setup for Falka Armor or creating a CBBE ver of the Steampunk outfit) to launch another side-project :D
Well I've started with this...

Closer, warmer, that's it!
Sorry for posting about this retex so frequently ;) Hope you don't mind. I think that the black/silver version is mostly done :) This went quite quick I must say ;)
I did a custom hex pattern for the underskirt from the scratch and added the skirt border and some bodice details. I think it looks quite well. Now for the exports (I hate this part of doing textures). And I ...

Hey there Habsburgs and Bourbons!
Time for some wip info on the retex. I just started to test some nice rose patterns on the black version of this gown. Looks quite promising. I really like the rose details but I will test some more patterns since it gets a bit too much repetitive on larger surfaces.
I also decided to do the underskirt and chemise sleeves and covers black to get a bit darker look ...

Hello all,
our retex poll at the Habsburg palace has ended. A lot of you voted and I'm very happy for it :)
- The winner is the Black And Silver variant with 44% of votes.
- Second place is for the Gold and White variants ex-aequo 22% each
- And third is the Silver variant with 11%
I'll be glad to prepare a black/silver version in the first place. Of course the general form will ...

Hey there guys,
unfortunately my vacation ended a bit quicker than expected due to some back problems. It's getting more and more like this when you get older ;) I'm in my thirties but being a 3d artist made me feel like a sixty-year-old :D
Well here is v 1.3-beta with a bit better rig - the sleeves around the hands aren't still perfect but they better than previous ones since I managed to fix a serious 3ds max glitch. Well how do you know? 3ds ma...

I know this is totally Skyrim unrelated but this pink dress worn by Tory Musett in Matrix Reloaded has a marvelous form. Shame that it's visible so briefly in the "casuality scene".
Sorry but I just couldn't resist to share it. I'm trying to sketch the whole form in my sketchbook and it ain't that easy ;)
Do you know any good movie costumes?
Best,
K.

Hi there Habsburgs.
I gathered some ideas for retexes of the Tudor Gown. I'd like to ask you which one do you fancy the most (only one can be chosen). The one that wins this poll will be made first in September.
These come from two movies "Anne Of The Thousand Days" and "The Tudors". Two of them are from the portfolio of Elizabeth Armstrong and a very talented model Liv The Free.
Here is the set:

I'm leaving you guys for a moment with the latest Elizabeth's Gown beta. Test it well :) I'll be back on September 1st with some more fixes for the Tudor outfit and of course brand new retexes. Habsburgs will get an extra task for this time, so stay tuned fellas ;)

PS: I'm going to stay with my partner in a Renaissance castle not far away from my hometown. It's under reconstruction right now and the money they earn from renting the rooms goes f...

Hi there Habsburgs,
as a "thanks" for supporting this group and my work so generously I'd like to invite you to test the beta version of Elizabeth Tudor Gown.
This is my first fully working rig with this project, yet still has got some glitches.
- the skirt needs to get some more smoothing since (as it is a legged) version there is some clipping when it bends. I'll handle it this weekend hopefully ;)
- the sleeves are a real bitch since they have some layers and i...

Well, I managed to do a quick rig of the gown ;) but the amount of clipping is enormous :D
I noticed that I have to do some color adjustments since Substance Painter shows some tones differently. The white sleeves have to be brighter for sure and maybe the red has to be a bit darker and warmer.
Exporting the textures was a challenge since I mapped the model dividing it into parts: bodice, sl...

Hello there Patrons,
A bit more renders of the mostly finished materials. Only the sleeves need some wrinkles update. What I did here is:
- redid the whole skirt pattern to match more in scale to the bodice and aligned the skirt almost perfectly ;)
- added the lacing gap boning and grommets in the back - I will have to add the lacing cord in 3ds max
- did some extra wrinkles and seams on the skirts and sleeves
- did the ne...

Hey there dear Patrons,
Though it was a really hard week I managed to catch up and redo all the materials. It was very frustrating to do it the second time. I also wanted to thank you guys for supporting me even when something goes wrong ;) It means a lot! (Thanks Neeko and Rae for your kind comments).
I started to do the embroidery on the main red-ish fabric. If you were interest...

Well, this is definitely a bad day...
I thought that the beta for the Elizabeth project will be ready this month.
But it won't, because my Substance Painter main file as well as the backup file for this model became corrupt... and I have to start over :/
Feel very frustrated and helpless, since doing the same thing twice is probably the most horrible experience in the creative process.
Well. Maybe I'll learn to always double-check my backup files when ...

I usually try to post an update once a week but this weekend is just full of surprises :D
Also, the jewelry materials are the last thing to do in most cases. This time it was the easy part :) It's because we've got only seven modules of jewelry here and they're like copied all around the model.
Planning the jewel models is always a tricky part 'cause if you do too much detail it will exceed the polycount limit for nif partitions (65k if I remember...

Well, finally managed to finish the last details of the model and do a nice FBX export for Substance Painter. Time to do some texturing and set up the materials :)
If you were interested - I use a clever tool to place smaller geometry on bigger surfaces called Advanced Painter Script for 3ds Max. It allows you to paint, scatter and randomize stuff while painting it over a selected surface

This is a 17th century stays made by a very talented craftswoman L'ala Ovest Costumery. You can easily find her on Facebook or Instagram.
Just look at this neckline!!! I'm totally stunned. :D
I definitely want to do this pair stays. I don't know if it will be a separate mod - probably yes. And probably another bigger side-project for yo...

Hey there Bourbons and Habsburgs :)
Time for some info on the Elizabeth Tudor Gown progress :)
I couldn't decide how to model the sleeve covers for two weeks now. It's because they have these white undersleves fragments poking through. It's always a dilemma if you want to add a detail and you don't want the model to be too complex.
First I wanted to model just the general shape of the sleeves and the covers ...

Today I want to share with you perhaps one of my biggest inspirations. Perhaps some of you know this Austrian lady. I follow her works at least for ten years now and I also had an opportunity to listen to some of her live tutorials - since my rl partner is a corsetiere.

Hello there Habsburgs and Bourbons!
I finally managed to get myself going with the Tudor project ;) I had some back problems lately so sitting and clicking became a bit difficult. I managed to set up a quick workstation on the couch to continue with the projects.
I started thinking of Elizabeth's Gown materials like of four sets of textures - you can look them up in this post's images section.

Hey there guys :)
I've finished painting the openwork on the visor :) I'm not happy with how the edges look now though. I started to think maybe to introduce some nicer border finish like this "rope" detail from 15century plate armor. I also think of a "heavy" version of this helmet and found some nice examples with actual openwork visors. I'd like to merge this visor I made with a simple form of steel helmet.

Hey there Habsburgs and Bourbons :)
As I announced yesterday, there is another simple project on the way alongside the Tudor Gown. I really got inspired by this decorative helmet (originally by artist Jon Harris).
I really liked the form of these concentric openwork panels. I also browsed some nice historical examples of armor decorations circa 1500-1600. I picked these picturing dragons and other creatures (which you can see in the base diffuse texture image) I also decided to do...

Some time ago I did a helmet inspired with some works of Jonathan Harris - a metal/carbon-fibre artist (I will talk about it more later in the inspirations section). I'd like to show you a quick peek. It's rather decorative than practical but somehow fits the northern aesthetics.
I also decided to make a special set of masks helmets and headdresses beside my regular modding routine (I mean gowns and armors). The set would be available for Habsburg Patrons only.
Of course the helme...
