And regarding "The Amazing Spider-Man 2," I can only say that it's one of my all-time favorite superhero movies.

2026-02-26 23:06:44 +0000 UTCThe best Spidey villains have been the ones with inner conflicts. I think that's what made "Spider-Man 2" (2004) so well received, at least subjectively at the time. Also, the advances in visual effects and Spider-Man's dynamic movements in the action scenes have come a long way since the original trilogy. I really enjoyed the scene where Spidey was wrapping up Dr. Conner's Lizard persona in webbing, similar to how some spiders do. I liked Emma Stone as Peter's love interest, too. The story gave her character more of a pro-active role than is often the case in superhero movies. This viewing was the first time I recognized Amber Stevens West as the cheerleader in the school gym basketball scene between Peter and Flash - gum-popping at the moment of the dunk!

2026-02-26 20:56:12 +0000 UTCThis one is ok, mostly down to Garfield/Stone, but the villain wasn't very interesting. The second film is GREAT though for the soundtrack alone. I got to see it on the big screen for the re-release & it was, um, amazing.
