Video Production Update January 5th 2026

Hey all. Hope everybody got a good break this Christmas holiday and maybe, dare I say it... got some gaming done...

The good news is we're back up and running here in a big way. My recording issues are fixed and I can get console footage once again, so to kick off the year I recorded a fresh playthrough of No More Heroes for the upcoming analysis video. I must have beaten this game now a dozen times in my life so it's surprising to still be noticing ext...

The Ape Escape Trilogy Analysis

Just in time for Christmas, I've got another 3D platformer trilogy video to give you. Like usual I can't seem to relax and make a video about something like an ape catching platformer without getting really into the weeds, so I hope you enjoy how into it we get.

I'm headed offline for a few days, but will see you in week to discuss what's next. Hope everyone enjoys their days off if you've managed to snag some and I'll see you back here soon.

Don't ask me to go <...

(Quick) Video Production Update December 2nd 2025

Hey everybody, sorry for the delay on the Ape Escape video. Losing the ability to capture console footage recently and some other setbacks have been a bit demoralising. I've been working on how to fix those snags though and my plan is to get the Ape video out this week, so it won't be long now.

While with Silent Hill 4 I let myself obsesses over the real granular detail, it's nice to focus again on a tighter script. Nevertheless the writing wa...

Angel Devoid: Face of the Enemy - Backlog with Brit

You're in for a ride tonight. Picking an FMV point and click out of a hat always results in madness and Angel Devoid is no outlier.

Surviving this batsh*t cyberpunk world is gonna take a little smarts, reflexes and maybe a save file that lets you skip a baked in hard-lock. I picked this abandonware up on a website that does a great job at fixing up these old games for more modern machines; the name of which might rhyme with "the contention member".

Video Production Update November 1st 2025

There's been a few setbacks in the last month but nothing that will stop things in the immediate future.

Some of you might be aware that support for Windows 10 ended recently. I like my main computer to be secure and have the latest security updates, and besides I have an offline Windows XP for older PC games so, while I was in no rush, I wasn't opposed to switching to Windows 11 once updates for 10 ceased.

I was a pretty early a...

Heartworm [PC] Video Review (Patreon Exclusive)

It's another PS1-era, survival-horror game, throwback. This time with less emphasis on the "survival" and "horror". I pick this one apart quite a lot in a way someone fresh to this genre probably wouldn't, but I'd be surprised if other vets of this type of game didn't feel the same way.

Have you played this one? I'd be genuinely curious to hear your thoughts and to hear what you took away from the game's story.

Catch you back here soon with anothe...

10,000 Bullets (PS2) - Backlog with Brit

Seems like a quite arbitrary number of bullets to me, but maybe I just don't know the full lore yet for this PS2 action-shooter.

I messed up on the recording for this so in spite of this game having a PAL60 mode I had my recorder set to record at 50fps, so you're gonna be missing some frames, oops.

Note entirely what I expected, but I feel compelled to give the PAL only localisations a chance out of respect for the effort.

Video Production Update September 30th 2025

Hey everybody. Sorry for the silence the past month. Thought I'd drop in quick to let you know how things are going.

Last month I got to work on the Ape Escape Trilogy video, and things were progressing smoothly.

Unfortunately, after getting all the footage recorded and starting to work on the script I caught some kinda nasty flu, which has made progress sluggish sin...

Video Production Update August 31st 2025

Hey everybody, with The Silent Hill 4 Analysis out I wanted to touch base and debrief as well as talk about what's next.

First of all I appreciate the patience and warm reception the video has received after all this time. Hopefully this will be another big piece of content you get to enjoy and revisit going forward.

In fact it was so big that on the day I was finished... the video wouldn't even render. It would always only render out a broken fil...

The Silent Hill 4 Analysis

This... will be a full analysis of Silent Hill 4 The Room. Hope you all enjoy guys, I'll be back soon to breakdown the final stages of production.

Long story short this thing didn't even want to render out for first few tries! But somehow the computer pushed through and here we are.

You obtained the keys of liberation.

(Quick) Video Production Update August 1st 2025 (Hopefully the Actual Final Update for the Big Video)

Hey everybody. I'm sorry to report that while I've been toiling away this month trying to finalise the big video on Silent Hill 4, I'm still a little bit away from it being done.

Since my last post I've been reviewing the video and flagging various things I wanted changed. This has led to me writing another 10 pages of additions and corrections, as well as completing another couple runs of the game for both added footage and to verify a...

(Quick) Video Production Update June 28th 2025 (Final Update for the Big Video)

Hey everybody, I'm here for one final update on the big upcoming video; the Silent Hill 4 Analysis.

In the last couple of weeks I had the objective of finishing the edit in addition to leaving a few days free at the end of the month for re-watching and amendments/corrections; in an effort to make a June release for the video plausible.

While I'm happy I've largely succeeded at finishing the edit, I've made too many annotations to address before the end of the mont...

(Quick) Video Production Update June 11th 2025

Hi everybody, my goal is to get this monster finally out this month. Below you can see where it's at. I have about 1 hour of video complete over about 3 and half hours of edited audio.

Here is a zoom in on the completed hour, too:

While it looks like there's a lot left to edit, putti...

Comparing The 2 Devil May Cry Shows (Article)

“Kyrie, can you really love me? Knowing the truth… that I am, mixed race?” - Nero, if he ever shows up on the Netflix Devil May Cry.

Netflix’s latest animated production (animated by Studio Mir) is an adaptation of Capcom's Devil May Cry, and while Dante looks like his game counterpart, it’s still a substantial departure from the source material, nearly as much as 2013’s DmC: Devil May Cry.

Dante, this time...

How FEAR FELL (Free Article)

I have to say, even if the FEAR games had been a series of uninterrupted home runs I doubt it would be one my favourite things or anything. This gory blood soaked First Person Shooter series is nihilistic to its core and it's not my preferred form of escapism to dismember people in gruesome detail the way this franchise prides on letting you.

That said of course, it's hard to deny the quality of the combat in 2005's FEAR. It has the slo-mo button of course that gives y...

(Quick) Video Production Update May 2nd 2025

Sorry for the lack of updates or extras this month, but I've been all in on the next big video. It's been a real mission putting Silent Hill 4 together, and the rise in temperature as we approach Summer has made for some sweaty work hours, but with any luck the video will be out in May.

All the audio up to the hour and a half mark has been edited - the rest...

Video Production Update April 1st 2025

Hey everybody. Just a quick update on where the big video is at.

Last month I told you it was clocking in at 35 pages, which would already make it my longest video yet, but unfortunately, or fortunately eventually for you all, it's escalated to a solid 50 pages now - so please excuse the delays.

But hey, this is partly on the Legend Backers, they picked SH4, we could have been doing Ape Escape right now, and probably had it out too. ...

The Jak Trilogy Analysis Commentary

A blast from the past, we're revisiting my Jak Analysis, I offer some memories of making the video as well as some current thoughts on Jak today. Much easier to do one of these on a video I made a year ago than one that happened... well... much longer ago.

Hope you enjoy!

Beat Down: Fists of Vengeance - Backlog with Brit

Surprised I haven't heard more about this one before. This is some chaotic stuff. Beat Down is a PS2 action game that calls back to traditional beat em ups of old combined with PS2 power... and surprising ambition. In collaboration between the Nier guys and Capcom, no less.

Have you guys played this one? It seems quite expansive from what I've played so far.

Catch you back here soon.

Let me know if you've played this one. Any cool NES games you're about?

Mouthwashing [PC] Video Review (Patreon Exclusive) No Spoilers

Mouthwashing is the latest retro polygon horror game to be making noise out there on the indie scene, so I thought I'd give it a run through and let you all in on what I think.

It was pretty short so not much time has been diverted away from the main next video - which continues to grow larger and larger. I'll have a few more bits of Patreon content out this week as well as a larger ...

Video Production Update March 2nd 2025

Hello gamers. Not a huge update today; I just wanted to catch you up on where we're at with the current big project I've been working on for the last couple of months.

As most of you probably already know I'm toiling away on the Silent Hill 4 analysis, which won of the Legend Backers vote a few months ago.

(The Other) Blood+ for PS2 - Backlog with Brit

In 2006 2 PS2 games based on the anime Blood+ came out, I reviewed one of them years ago on the channel... and now... here's the other one. This one wasn't made by Suda51 though so expect something a little more conventional. Either way it's another PS2 action game to try out.
