Battle UI Overhaul Mockup 2

I incorporated a lot of feedback into this one, but the main things I wanted were: making the ability icons more clear and adding some more visual information. Mockup 1 was about stripping out as much information as I could and with Mockup 2, I want to swing the pendulum back to more information. In subsequent mockups we will home in on exactly how much we want.

Here's what I'm thinking about:

No problem! I want the colors to "feel" correct in a kind of loose sense. Like orange is active, blue is passive, purple is tricky, etc etc

Yeah I think you’re right after looking at it again. I think I’m just nitpicking. The color doesn’t actually matter in the grand scheme of things as long as it’s distinct from the others and a logical shape. Swords and boots aren’t typically orange and purple, but that didn’t jump out to me as wrong for some reason lol.

I think these are good ideas for changing the shape of the faith icon. I'd like to try it

The magic and faith icons always give me the hardest time, lol. They're very abstract concepts, and especially with faith I didn't want to use any real-world religious symbols. In my mind, faith is either white or gold, and white doesn't work with the text colors. Meanwhile I feel like magic could be any color?

I agree on the weight numbers, they're nice to know but shouldn't be emphasized as much as they are

3. I think the new faith icon sharing the most logical color with what should also be the lightning bolt's is an issue, but a small one. I think the bigger issue with it is the shape of it. Looking at it, you can clearly see the cross like star, I think where it kind of falls apart is the second layer behind it, particularly on the smaller variations (monster hp) of it. The detail kind of gets lost and it looks less like a faith icon and more like an explosion, or a classic Batman "POW." I think removing the extra layer and widening parts of it to accommodate the numbers fix it. I think everything else looks pretty good.

2. The new attack icons are a vast improvement or the last mock ups. I think my only gripe is with the magic and faith icons. The new magic icon is a blue thunderbolt, which I don't find very intuitive. I think if it were made yellow, or changed to a different element it would be easier to read. Changing to an ice cube is pretty distinct from the current icon shapes and could work if you want to keep the light blue.

I'm definitely liking this one more than the previous mockup. Few observations and suggestions. 1. I don't see anything wrong with the weight icon or especially the segments on the bar. I actually think the segmented bar makes it look more "finished" and less like a placeholder, and it doesn't take up anymore space to have them. If you want to cut down on that part of the screen I think you could make the weight numbers significantly smaller. Weight numbers are cool but are ultimately less vital information during play.
