Psylocke Vol 2 Ch 7: The Place Beyond The Trees, The Wooden Cabin If Psylocke

We seemed to be driving for hours. From my spot in Grace's lap, I could barely see outside. Whenever I asked where we were, Breonia wouldn't give me a straight answer. Instead, she'd look down at me and say, "Feel it with your mind."

So, I closed my eyes and focused on the energy inside me. It took some time, but slowly my senses extended beyond the massive car. I could sense the world around us.

Massive trees towered above, so tall that no Lilliputian or even Gulliverian skyscraper could compare. A dirt and rock trail wound its way up toward a distant mountain.

"What kind of place is this?" I wondered aloud.

"This," Breonia replied, her gaze shifting to the open window, "is said to be a sacred place for the Brobs. It's where their god first touched the earth."

"Huh?" I said, intrigued. I had always been interested in hearing about creation myths. "So, I take it that Brob religion is a lot different from Lilliputians and Gulliverians?"

"No, not necessarily," Darcy chimed in from above. "Ever since the merging of our species, many Brobs have taken it upon themselves to study other religions."

"Huh," I muttered again, not really sure what else to say.

I looked up at Darcy, a question lingering in my mind. "What is Psylocke?"

Darcy smiled as she kept her eyes on the road. "Psylocke is one of the ten teams that occupy Brobdingnag."

"It's where I trained," Breonia added, "and it's where you'll train as well."

"Shit," I thought to myself. I really hoped this wasn't a place filled with only Brobdingnagians. If it was, I wasn't sure I'd survive.

We finally arrived at our destination, though I couldn't tell exactly when the car stopped. My senses were still stretched out, feeling the towering trees and rugged mountain trail, but suddenly everything seemed to close in around me as Darcy turned off the car.

"Here we are," Darcy announced as she got out, the ground vibrating beneath her titanic steps.

Before I knew it, her massive hand descended, lifting Grace, Breonia, and me up as if we weighed nothing. I was cradled in Grace's hand, but even her firm grip seemed tiny compared to Darcy's enormous fingers.

I peeked out between Grace's fingers and Darcy's, my eyes widening in surprise. A wooden cabin stood before us, dwarfed by the mountainous trees that surrounded it. The cabin was simple, almost rustic, nestled at the base of the trees as if trying to hide from the world.

"Welcome home," Darcy said, her voice warm as she looked down at us.

"Um... it looks good..." I replied, lying through my teeth. The place looked anything but welcoming. The air was thick with the scent of pine and damp earth, and an uneasy silence hung in the air, broken only by the occasional rustle of leaves.

Just then, I felt a slight breeze against my left shoulder. I turned to see Breonia, and to my surprise, she was trembling slightly, her boots barely holding steady on Darcy's palm.

"What's wrong with you?" I asked, more out of concern than anything else.

"SHUT UP, MAGGOT!" Breonia's voice boomed as she suddenly snapped. Her face loomed closer, her breath hot and forceful as she blew me off my feet, sending me tumbling onto Grace's palm.

I landed with a thud, my body sticky with the remnants of Grace's earlier kiss. My heart pounded in my chest, both from the fall and from Breonia's outburst. Her usual tough demeanor had been replaced by something else—something almost like fear.

As I looked up at her, still sprawled on Grace's palm, I couldn't help but wonder what kind of place Psylocke really was if even someone like Breonia could be shaken by it.

Darcy took a few steps forward, her massive strides causing the ground beneath us to tremble. "Tristan, you might want to cover your ears," she said, her attention clearly elsewhere.

I did as I was told, placing my hands over my ears, though not pressing down all that hard.

"PSYLOCKE, FALL IN!" Darcy bellowed. Her voice erupted like a shockwave, sending a blast of air crashing against me. I clamped my hands tighter over my ears, but even that wasn't enough to block out the deafening sound. It was a good thing Grace's fingers shielded me; without them, I would have been tossed into the wind like a ragdoll.

As the echo of Darcy's command faded, the world slowly returned to normal, though my ears still rang from the force of it.

"Could you be a little more careful?!" Grace shouted up at Darcy, her voice laced with frustration as she tightened her hold on me.

"Sorry," Darcy replied with an awkward smile, a hint of embarrassment in her voice.

"Grace, don't worry, I'm—" I began to say, but the words caught in my throat as I felt the ground beneath us begin to rumble once more.

I turned towards the wooden cabin just in time to see the door fly open. Out sprinted five Brobdingnagian girls, each varying in size but still towering over me by a mile. They moved with a speed and urgency that was both awe-inspiring and terrifying.

The girls wasted no time, lining up in formation with military precision. "WELCOME BACK, MA'AM!" they shouted in unison, their voices booming with such intensity that the very air seemed to ripple in response.

"Ladies?" Darcy said, her voice carrying a note of authority. "We have guests." She raised the hand that held us, presenting Grace, Breonia, and me to the towering soldiers.

The five girls looked up at us—or at least, I assumed they were looking at Grace and Breonia. I wasn't sure if they could even see me at this size.

"Wait, isn't that...?" one of the girls asked, her eyes widening in recognition. "Breonia?!"

The formal ranks dissolved in an instant as the girls broke formation, rushing forward with wide smiles on their faces.

"Breonia, it's so good to see you!"

"How have you been, short stuff?!"

"We missed you so much!"

As the Brobdingnagians closed in on Darcy's hand, I felt my entire body start to tremble. A wall of colossal women was bearing down on me, their enormous frames casting long shadows that swallowed up everything in their path. My heart pounded in my chest as I realized just how small I truly was in this world.

"Girls, I'm going to need you all to back up," Darcy commanded, her tone shifting from casual to serious in an instant.

The group of Brobdingnagian women immediately complied, stepping back, their movements slow and cautious.

"After all... we have a pretty fragile guest," Darcy added, her eyes flicking down to me with a smirk. I felt the weight of her gaze, a mixture of amusement and something else I couldn't quite place.

"Ma'am, what do you mean?" one of the women asked, her curiosity piqued as they all shifted their focus back to us.

Darcy looked at the five girls, her expression a blend of authority and mischief. "How about you look closely."

The Brobdingnagians leaned in, squinting as they tried to piece together the puzzle Darcy had laid out for them. Their eyes moved from Breonia to Grace, confusion etched on their faces as they tried to figure it out.

"Wait a minute... is that a Lilliputian?" one of them finally exclaimed, her voice tinged with surprise.

"Oh shit."
