2024-03-22 22:39:15 +0000 UTCThis is one of those episodes that is... on paper, it's not very good at all. But it's elevated by the performances and the energy that guest stars can bring. Majel Barrett is just fantastic whenever she appears, and even if this was not a great plot for her, she just has so much spark and fun that she brings that you end up kindof enjoying it even if the episode doesn't really mean anything.

While I don't think we knew episode titles in advance (unless TV Guide listed them?), any guest star appearance would be instantly spoiled by episode previews. TV still has these today, I guess, but with streaming there's not much point to them. Though they still exist.

Once they were awake, though, she could tell their plans, and was genuinely surprised in the Transporter Room that they were still roaming free. She apparently didn't stop to think that she's the only one aboard who could sense their thoughts.

2024-03-21 22:35:54 +0000 UTCIn story, Picard should have had nothing to fear from Dixon Hill's adversaries because the Holodeck failsafes would prevent him from being hurt (unless he removed the failsafes). He just wanted to kick back and relax, away from work and Troi's mom, without any major interruptions.

2024-03-21 19:14:47 +0000 UTCI always love how the only person on the whole ship amused by her is Riker. Great way to show his personality. You'd think you wouldn't like the overbearing mother of your girlfriend, but he has a twisted kind of sense of humor. He clearly enjoys Picard's discomfort.
