Pics 219: Downtown Scenes
Added 2025-08-15 21:00:08 +0000 UTCBack in January, I tried using a new set for downtown. Unfortunately, the set is too complicated, and every picture took a really long time to render, and looked all pixelated. So I went back to the old set.
I tried the experiment again, this time splitting downtown in half rendering the back half then the front half and using a post render filter to get rid of the pixelation. Even with these, it still didn't work. Back to the old set it is.
I did this scene where you view downtown from the parking garage, and it also was coming up pixelated. I literally spent hours trying to fix it.
The fix turned out to be rendering just Ariane and parking garage by itself, then the downtown background by itself using only low poly people and cars. I lost the natural lighting in this experiment, but adding a brighter light from the same angle worked fine.
If you saw the pictures from January, the gas station had the wrong name. I managed to fix that, too.
