BIG Collection of Mod Ideas - What's To Come
Added 2022-04-03 09:29:44 +0000 UTCIn a couple of days I will post a poll where you can vote which mods interest you out of all the ideas I'm posting below. This post offers a deeper look at what each mod entails. This is all a draft brainstorm of ideas, so final form of the mods might change, some things might not be possible or be too much work, etc.
I'm also stating the difficulty of making such mods. This is to give you an overview of how much time making X mod would take. Easy should be a matter of one, two weeks. Medium is probably close to a month, Hard is longer than a month.
Innoncence Lost - Quest Expansion / Honorhall Orphanage Expansion (Difficulty: Medium)
- Creative Ways to Kill Grelod (Hitman style: plan and set up your assassination in style!)
- Option to Have Grelod Arrested (Dark Brotherhood kills her in jail eventually), you get access to adoption but lose access to the DB. This does not count as YOUR kill.
- Option to donate and improve the Orphanage
- Help Constance with the Adoptions. Find suitable families, help the kids get adopted
Boethiah's Calling - Quest Expansion (Difficulty: Medium)
- Refuse to help Boethia and destroy her altar.
- Old Champion is sent after you, stalking you and attacking when you least expect it.
- After you take a big chunk of his health, he surrenders and a conversation happens.
- Let the old champion live (new follower) / Kill Him
- Armor of Boethia becomes cursed, since you didn't help Boethia.
Ill Met By Moonlight - Quest Expansion (Difficulty: Medium)
- Takes into consideration if the player is also a werewolf (new dialogue options)
- If you talk to Hircine -> new dialogue options for a more defiant attitude towards him
- Refuse to take the ring from Sinding while he's in jail -> Sinding escapes -> Track down Sinding quest (So you don't have to talk to Hircine and CAVORT with Daedra)
- Kill sinding -> Hircine appears and rewards you (or not if you refuse the reward)
- Mod gives Sinding an Epic Werewolf voice while in Werewolf form (I have a professional voice actor willing to do this!)
- RARE: Option to heal Sinding's Lycanthropy and not have to kill him, making Hircine furious. Reward -> New follower/marriage candidate.
The Cursed Tribe - Quest Expansion (Difficulty: Medium)
- Option to Become Chief of the stronghold
- Administer your own stronghold mechanics
Family Life Expansion (Difficulty: Hard)
- Adds more dialogue and misc quests with your kids / spouse. Take them out in an adventure, a picnic, visit a big city. Quality family time! Lol
Children Play Games (Difficulty: Easy)
- Adds a bunch of animations children can do around cities and towns.
- Playing hide and seek, doing cartwheels, hopscotch...
- It should add some variety and make cities seem more alive and immersivuh
Civil War Recruitment Expansion (Difficulty: Hard)
- This would NOT be an overhaul of the entire CW, but an expansion of the initial stages of the CW, when you're a "nobody".
- If you're character is super high level or well-renown, it can be skipped. Otherwise...
- You don't jump right into the "fun" stuff but first you gotta do more day-to-day soldier tasks, until you go up in the ranks and that unlocks the normal quests.
- This offers a more day-to-day, average joe feeling to your character/playthrough until you rank up.
College of Winterhold Guild Expansion (Difficulty: Hard)
- Focused almost entirely on the early stages of the college.
- More classes, "boring" mini quests to make you feel more like a student when you first join, not jumping right into Saarthaal.
Vampires Lines Expansion (Difficulty: Easy)
- Bandit Lines Expansion: Vampire Edition. Duh!
Brawl Lines Expansion (Difficulty: Easy)
- Bandit Lines Expansion: Brawling Edition. Obviously!
Player Can Yield To Guards or Bandits (Difficulty: Medium)
- Player puts hands up (with animation), guard/bandit approaches
- Persuasion check to escape with your life.
Shopkeepers React To Purchases "Live" (Difficulty: Hard)
- They comment on the type of item you buy or sell as you buy or sell them.
- Quite complex, it would probably NOT cover all merchant voices, but only the most common ones.
Character Whims (Difficulty: Hard)
- From time to time (every 24 hours?) your character is in the mood for something random
- Examples: Visit an inn, eat something sweet, drink alcohol, talk to an old friend...
- Fulfilling their wishes, gives you a mini temporary bonus
- Sims style, this gives a lot more personality/agency/realism to your character, as they have their own desires too.
Character Life Goals (Difficulty: Hard)
- At the beginning of the game (or after installing the mod), choose your own character's "life goals"
- It can be anything, from joining a specific guild, starting a family, becoming rich, becoming a great hunter...
- Once chosen, character gets a quest for it. Fulfilling the quest gives you an XP bonus
- This can give purpose to your character, other than roleplaying your character's wishes in your mind
Backstories of Skyrim (Difficulty: Hard)
- Similar to Alternate Start but: Characters have a more predefined past. The game will open up at some point, but there's a bit of past to your character. Think Fallout 3 intro.
- You basically get to experience their life BEFORE the game starts properly.
- This translates to small linear gameplay sections showing key moments of their life BEFORE the game lets you play freely in Skyrim.
- These stories include an INITIAL QUEST giving your character some general direction for their story. Eg: Find your lost sister, last seen in Skyrim. Find clues until you finally figure out where in Skyrim she is.
- These quests include voiced NPCs relevant to your characters backstories (Parents, brothers/sisters, best friends, etc.) that help make your character more connected to the world.
- Plan would be to have at least ONE backstory per race, explaining what brings your character to Skyrim.
- Backstories would first be launched individually, then once all races are covered, they will be bundled into one big launch.
Dead Bodies Rot (Difficulty: Medium)
- Bodies that start the game dead can be found in different stages of decomposition, instead of looking like they're sleeping. (Mostly draugr / skeleton half replacers, nothing too gory)
My Custom Patch Collection (Difficulty: Easy)
- Less Jarring Project AHO structures. Make them smaller so they don't ruin the Skyrim landscapes.
- Citizens Tweaks: Hide some characters from the start of the game, lock others behind a random chance for more "unexpected encounters".
- DoubtSuspended Quests Tweaks: Not everything has to be in Whiterun edition.
- Beast and Elven Race Kids: Argonian kid (New Location) + Elven Kids (New Locations) + Khajiit Kid (Travels with Merchants)
- RASS / Cold Behaviour Region: Connect them with Frostfall so they can detect when you're under cover/under a ceiling
Expect a poll in a couple of days where you can vote for your favorites. New ideas are always welcome but no promises that they get added to the list if they're too difficult/or I personally wouldn't use them. I can give tips on how to make them a reality though! Anyway, hope you enjoy the list of mod ideas, maybe one of these days we'll see some of these live.
Thanks for your support everyone!
