I've seen some performers seemingly change direction of the twirl at will, spin them in opposite directions or in the same direction. Another cool one is twirling the tassels without actually shaking/shimmying the upper body. It's quite fascinating to watch!

2019-04-08 01:36:51 +0000 UTCThank you so much! It was spirit gum used back then. It doesn’t stick very well. Each girl has her own little trick to making them stay on. I love to twirl so I use fabric fuse tape and remove it very carefully. Tassel seemed to be used more for decorations back then. Now, people twirl tassels much harder because there is tape that sticks much better. It’s a competition sometimes. I love it!

I pour a great deal of money into my costuming for this reason. I want my costumes to fit perfectly and I want them to have magic reveal and very little chance of wardrobe malfunctions But when it happens I just go with it. An audience loves a good come back😇

2019-04-08 01:28:27 +0000 UTCYour mention of Le Lido also brought back an old memory of a hardcover book I found on my father's bookshelf as an impressionable youth that documented the history (with pictures!) of Paris cabaret and told great stories of Le Lido, Le Chat Noir, Folies Bergere and of course Moulin Rouge and the rest. I wish I could find it today as not only did it have some fascinating photos and paintings but it was truly an interesting story! I'll have to go on the hunt for it...

Even with modern adhesives I'm sure it's tough finding something that will hold up to sweat and all that motion while still being removable without taking any skin with them! The performers back in the day must have endured a lot of pain and injury to share their art with the world! On a less nerdy note, this costume is beautiful and fits absolutely perfectly! You can tell it was custom made! Back to the nerdiness, the lighting and video quality are both much better! We all appreciate your effort to make your content perfect ❤️
