2025-03-06 16:11:28 +0000 UTCThe ending of this episode combined with what we know about Emilia from Frozen Bond, she deserves all the love. And Subaru finally being able to reunite with her, apologize deeply and admit his mistakes.. its such a good moment of growth for him. So its great to feel proud of him. It took alot of suffering, alot of failures, some time to reflection on himself and acceptance of his flaws AND strengths in order to change.. to get here. Petelgeuse will be missed. Reading his dialogue and behavior of obsession with the Witch is a massive parallel to Subaru's flawed and warped treatment of Emilia - doing so much for a person with the intent of receiving their love or affection, without even knowing or even caring to acknowledge the person's feelings.. and getting angry when your efforts aren't received in the way you want. Petelgeuse' words are even kinda similar to what Subaru said to Emilia in their 'breakup.' "Why won't you understand? I thought that if it was anyone, it would be you. I've made everything work out haven't I? I risked my life. All because you were important to me! Everything worked out because of me. All of it! All of it was because I was there! You owe me a debt you could never repay!" - Subaru (Episode 13) "Why? After everything I did for you! Witch! Satella! Give me your love!" - Petelgeuse (Episode 25) Selfish, self serving and not truly seeing the person for who they are.. but what YOU want them to be for yourself. Difference being.. Subaru recognized he was being selfish, paid dearly for it and made up for his mistakes. Petelgeuse died before he could realize his mistake or even atone for his sin. I wonder if he could even comprehend he was wrong tho. Was he beyond the point of any true self reflection? We'll never know now.
