Happy Memories

(This is a post I wrote in December of 2011, the last time I saw my BF and GF, who we’ll be staying with for a few nights on our road trip. I’m so glad I wrote things down, I never would have recalled all of the exquisite details of such a happy moment.)

I was in our tiny bathroom straightening my hair. My girlfriend was in the shower shaving, it was as if she never left in some ways, talking about every day things while we primped together.

My boyfriend walked in, dropped his crisp white towel and stood there eye fucking me while she yapped about work and this annoying woman she shares an office with. He’s lost 20 pounds from the time I saw him last, and you could see it most in his waist, along his hip bones, he was tanned and gorgeous. He knew he would catch my eye, he winked and breezed past me, joining my girl in the shower.

My mirror was starting to steam up, they were bickering warmly about hogging the shower spray. My husband came home from walking the dog and joined us in the bathroom. “Come on in,” they joked. And he flashed me that grin of his as he stripped down, leaving his clothes in a trail, and jumped into the shower to squeals of delight.

I pulled the curtain back and watched the three of them mug for me, slap and tickle, jockey for best water position.

I wanted to freeze this moment; three people I loved so dearly, naked and dripping wet, steam rolling around them, soapy hands and their laughs echoing off of the tile.

“What’s that silly look on your face for, Heart? You coming in?” he asked. I just smiled.

My boyfriend started soaping up my husbands back, hamming to me and making “bow chicka bow wow” porn-soundtrack noises while my girl pretended to overheat and faint. She tried to bully them into dropping the soap, they all negotiated positions for shampooing.

“Are you spank-banking this whole thing?” my boyfriend asked. “Get in here already!”

I was mesmerized by them, knowing one day I’d remember them all so young and so beautiful. “Nah,” I replied. “I’m pretty sure the view is better from here.”
