I am currently working on another Patreon exclusive image set for you guys and here I like to show you a little sneak peak of my current status.
Up here you can see a render preview after I created his skin and hair materials for William. Right now I'm working on the scenery which I completely overhauled and also re designed especially for this project.
This was my first attempt back in 2019 to render this japanese themed location which later on got used in one of my renders with Kenshi from MKX

Yet the lighting was a bit too strong and unnatural which I wanted to tone down in my latest attempt. Also with the stuff learned over the years it was time to try out something new which lead me into re designing all of the textures and lighting.
The biggest change however is the fact that I use volumetric fog in real time - for the first time directly in the engine. I have done this before but results were not really to my expectations.
With all the new tweaks applied I made a test render which looks like this:

The light rays up here are generated by the new volumetric fog material I used, it's a bit strong in the preview but can be finde tuned. Another QoL change about the textures is the re alignment of the mapping which makes it more look like a natural material instead of repeating itself which can have a "tiled" appearance (example - external link to imgur)
Colors also have been adjusted and the lighting is based on real world sun position.
