Sometimes you have to take a step back and realize that you have to change your plans. With how slow things have been I've decided that the direction of the game has to change.
While working on the farm gameplay I came to the conclusion that it won't be fun just by itself, the reason why managing your farm is fun in a game like stardew valley isn't so much because of the farming but because of all the other stuff you want to do and because you have to squeeze your time around it.
Asa and the "player character" will now enter the "Luna Plena Magical Academy" (all resemblances to similar sounding or looking magical academies appearing in anime are purely accidental) much sooner than I originally expected. I've been working on this location for quite some time, the reason why this wasn't the starting location in the fantasy world at first was that I couldn't populate a large space with unique people, but this has changed now.

The main reason why I'm pushing in this direction is that I'm now able to create dynamic morphs in engine and blender while keeping animations and physics intact.

In the first version this will come down to each student having unique height and will then gradually be expanded with more options, thicc, sticc and muscular body types, longer/shorter legs and partial blends like thicc legs and thin upper bodies, more facial variations etc.
Another advantage is that the students and staff will wear uniforms which will cut down creation time for new characters.
The academy
It is located at the coast with a large wilderness (forbidden forrests, mystical springs, old ruins) surrounding it and a small town with a harbour nearby).
At first large areas of the academy will be closed off and more of it will be opened up as you progress through the curriculum, that way I can naturally couple the development of new areas of the academy with the story of the game.
Within this space I will be able to tell stories, introduce new characters without it feeling forced and add new game mechanics.
Farming will take a very small part there within the schools herb garden, potion brewing will happen mostly during alchemy class (The drow will be the new alchemy teacher), there will be different classes related to different schools of magic like transformation, elemental, summoning creatures, enchantment (of objects and people) and more.
But overall the main focus will for now be on the characters and their lifes within the academy, which should provide much healthier and interesting for the game as whole.
Next demo release
With all that said Luna Plena will open it's doors later this month. (Should I fail to open the academy's doors in time I will pause the patreon for september and reopen it once the demo goes live).
