I am so enjoying seeing your reactions to this series. you went on a quite a roller coaster ride with Jessica and Luke. The highest of highs and then the rug was pulled out from under you. It’s like I have feel Jessica’s distress twice watching you along side the episode. Great reaction!

2024-08-14 13:42:01 +0000 UTCSee, I read the Trish's mom scene differently...I think she DOES care...but she just can't help herself and was like "well, while I actually have a moment of her time, I should probably mention this opportunity..." She referenced not having money at one point and for SOME who grew up with nothing and then got to the point where they were rich, the fear of ever becoming poor again drives them to do some truly fucked-up stuff. Still a valid reason for Trish to kick her out. Crossing a boundary is crossing a boundary.

I once saw a hospice nurse explain grief in a way that just made ALL the sense to me and now I share it because I think it's the sort of thing that, if we are lucky enough to live a long life and love a lot of people, everyone will have to deal with. Day one when you lose someone, your life is a small box with a ball taking up nearly all the space in the box. On the bottom of the box is a button that makes you feel pain when it gets hit by the ball. Because the box is so small, nearly everything causes the ball to hit the pain button...so every little thing seems painful. As days, weeks, months...years pass, your life gets bigger, so your box gets bigger around the ball...it doesn't hit the pain button as often, BUT...when that pain button gets hit, it still hurts as badly as it did on day one. So, the best thing you can do when you are grieving (and the thing that so many struggle with) is to grow your life around the ball. Meet with people, have experiences (even knowing that your box is still small and they will all be painful at first)...grow your box...cram so much life into the box that it has to expand to make room for it all. Nothing will ever make it hurt less, but when we grow our lives we can make it hurt less OFTEN. May all your lives be so big and beautiful that it's like dropping a high bounce ball in a Boeing factory. And...uh...fuck Kilgrave. Thanks for coming to my TED talk.

Trish's mom further proves that she only ever cared about the money before, not her daughter's health or well-being. It's hard to tell if she actually regrets the past or if she just regrets not getting a slice of the wealth pie. Why you gotta kick Malcolm's bag, delivery lady? He literally just stopped Robyn from scratching your face off lol I love how gentle he is, even with people that don't deserve it. He recognizes that Robyn's hurting and in need of help even if she treats everyone else badly. I'm glad there was some resolution and forgiveness there. Luke vs Jessica is the fight we didn't want to have to happen but the one we definitely needed. Luke might have been under Kilgrave's control but he needed to get that anger out. He would've killed anyone else. Jessica at least was able to endure him long enough to make the hard choice and shoot him. Fun fact, I'm not sure if anyone mentioned this before but Nicolas Cage got his stage name from Luke Cage. He was born Nicolas Coppola but he wanted to earn his own success, not ride his family name. He's a huge superhero fan so he took the last name Cage. I guess Nicky Blaze was a little too on the nose (Ghost Rider joke lol)

Anyway, from what I gathered about Luke, based on my memory of watching the next episode, is that his skin being unbreakable kept the shotgun blasts from piercing his skin but the concussive force is what knocked him out. Basically it's like an American football player getting a concussion for a helmet to helmet hit on the field. Yes the player's skull and skin are fine from wearing a helmet but the brain still bounced around in the skull causing the concussion. So I would also assume if he is shot by bullets in the chest, it would hurt just like if someone was wearing a bullet proof vest.

I bought it on blu ray this past year, but haven't cracked the shrink-wrap. 😅 I watched the first 2 eps when it first aired and meant to go back, but never did. First time I'd seen Tatiana Maslany and was like, "This woman's INCREDIBLE." Same with "Breaking Bad." I wasn't in the right headspace to get into that one at the time, but was really intrigued by the premise of the origin of a villain, to see how long will you stay on their side. I didn't buy that, but I do plan on watching it...at some point.

We saw when kilgrave commanded him and it was way past his usual limit so that was a clue to how long his hold was with Luke. I hope someone can send you a link to a recap of Daredevil so you don't get spoiled. Absolutely no grace or (apparent) choreography, but it just hits in all the right ways. Krysten Ritter is such an amazing actress. I just started watching her in the new Orphan Black: Echoes series (well, it's at least new here in America), and she's phenomenal all over again.
