Poll: Do you think I should commission a translation for Aicomi?
Added 2025-12-10 23:04:00 +0000 UTCHi there!
I've talked with the translator that was commissioned for some of the previous games that I've made HF Patches for. They are interested in translating Aicomi for a pretty reasonable price.
Now the question is, is a better translation worth the decent amount of money and time?
It would probably take about 2 months to finish. The translation would include story text for each of the unique story characters, as well as all talk scene text for normal characters. It would NOT include subtitles because they were AI-generated from voice clips - there is no original text to give to the translator, and I will not pay insane money for them to transcribe hours of moaning.

I think someone posted one on KK discord.

2026-01-13 12:07:09 +0000 UTCTranslators Unite is a part of DLsite, they are not free. They may offer a free translation to the author in exchange for sales exclusivity and/or other concessions. You can't ask them for a translation if you're not selling on DLsite, and there would be no point in doing so since you can just ask one of the translators they contract directly (as I often do).

2025-12-11 19:42:33 +0000 UTCIf the price is reasonable, then I think it could be worth it. I doubt the game will come to Steam anytime soon

2025-12-11 16:34:37 +0000 UTCI'm conflicted. On the one hand the auto-translation is absolutely terrible and needs serious upgrading, on the other hand I have found AIComi itself to be quite lacking in features compared with Koikatsu.

2025-12-11 00:15:57 +0000 UTCMy question would be "how were the current translations done?" There are some really excellent, free, (and even *local*) speech to text engines out there (OpenAI whisper), as well as the same for excellent, free, and local text to speech engines (the local ones sometimes take a number of tries to get the 'emotion' right, but still worth it for effectively just a time investment - and the TTS engines that are derived from Coqui/xtts can even use the Japanese Source Audio (in Japanese) to speak the English text...)

2025-12-11 00:12:38 +0000 UTCThe current translation is barely adequate. It gets the point across, but answering questions is a matter of guess work. Don't got broke with this, but it certainly is needed.
