Final touches and quick wins.

Hey everyone, just thought I’d drop a quick update this week to let you know that Part 2 of the Spyrer Orris suit will be out tomorrow. Just needed a bit of extra time editing this part before it’s ready.

Included in part 2 is also how I painted the Zone Mortalis base supplied with all of the Necromunda kits. And seeing as the first set of final images were shot at a lower angle, not giving you a proper look. Here he is under a black background and a proper angle to see it. These bases are actually really awesome and detailed for a stock base. Literally ready for paint after primer. A perfect canvas to explore various techniques and as you will see, a perfect place to further practice our brushwork, scratches, blending and weathering.

Speaking of quick wins, some times we just need one through the week. Maybe you’ve just finished a long or hard project. Been studying/practicing hard on a new technique and you need to lighten up. Or even just a confidence booster by the feeling of completion. Painting those smaller assisting character models can be just the thing, and I sure needed it yesterday. I painted one of the floating Tyranid bug things that kinda remind me of a fat face hugger 😝. Also helps that I just watched Alien Romulus, so I was fueled by Geigers imagination and terror. But more importantly I was feeling the strains of burnout. By picking up a much smaller miniature, I could keep the brush moving and have it finished in under 2 hours. The moral boost I get when I can safely put a finished piece (no matter how small) in the finished display cabinet is huge.

If you don’t have a small sidekick miniature to paint, my other go to option is a head or helmet. It isn’t a finished and based piece that stands alone, but it is a central point to a character. A little army painting hack that you can do to make your character heads pop off with some extra polish. By breaking up the factory assembly paint line days of rank and file troops. You thread in these shorter focus sessions of just a head or helmet from a sergeant etc to dive into more detail and have more fines with the brush. A great change up from monotonous trim or highlighting the 50th piece of chainmail etc.

Alright, it’s back to the final edits and on the brush. See you all tomorrow with the Spyrer part 2 and more to come! Happy painting,

Bb
