2025-04-15 01:47:40 +0000 UTCMy take on ferns opinion about goddess magic but not the goddess is there's a collection of magic that exists that someone written down but whether the person who wrote it down was the goddess who created the world and still cares for humanity or just early spell casters who knew more is up in the air. The goddess is a very specific claim of what the origin of people is and what happens after you die and even what is morally acceptable. Trying not to bring my real world religious ideas here but I don't think it's wrong to say what we see of the goddess and the priests there is very much a strong influence of real world Christianity. Usually in dnd it's known for a fact that the gods exist and the question is less do gods exist and more are they worth worshipping kad they come across more as just super powerful people with limits and stuff than what is presented in Frieren. It's possible healing magic exist but it's not from a goddess but because it isn't understood the people there just threw it under the goddess category. Frieren said a few episodes ago that the only time the goddess interacted with the world in a way they know about is during the age of mythology. And she knows first hand how legends grow over time. A scenario where a mortal mage or priest was so well she is talked about as a goddess is not too dissimilar to her master now being a fairytale or Himil being the wielder of the hero sword of legend despite that sword still being in a cave.

2025-02-28 20:09:41 +0000 UTCWhat Sein wants is very specific lol he wants the "Oneesan" trope and the meaning is kinda lost in the translation unless you are quite familiar with those tropes so you can understand by context regardless of the dub or sub 😂 Frieren, despite the age, don't fit in that trope (it doesn't help that they literally gave her a hot "oneesan" voice in the dub lmao)

For example, I'm usually so enraptured by how Fern's hair and dress move that I didn't even notice the way Stark puts his arm behind his back each time he swings her.

This is what I love about Frieren, they give the same amount of effort to animating a dance between Stark and Fern as other animes give entire fight sequences! They know what's important to nail down, it's like the Owl House Lumity kiss at the end of season 2, they animated the F out of that 5 second scene, because they knew how important it was.

I was wondering if you guys would ever bring Fruits Basket(2019) to the channel. Based on commentary you both give with certain series and episodes I feel like you both would really love it.
