Trixy Treats 2022 Exclusive Photo

Happy Friday! I have something exciting that we’ll be getting into today.  Now that we’ve wrapped things up with Bette, I have more Trixy photos, as promised. Here is the first of five Trixy Treats photos that I will be posting over the next few weeks.

I’ll begin by sharing one of my favorites that unfortunately didn’t make the cut for print. There wasn’t necessarily a specific reason why we went with something else, but I’m happy to have it here to share with you today. This photo was taken near the back entrance of the Administration Building at The Indiana Sanatorium in October of 2022. I’ll be sure to include a photo of the empty staircase to help you visualize.

This photo was taken pretty early on in our shoot and shows me leaning on a window sill while we were shooting on the steps. This was the only one of several that we took that felt right to complete the set of 9 photos. Will there potentially be more later at some point? Possibly, but this is it for now.

My favorite thing about this location was how truly unsettling it was. At this point, my characters had been photographed at multiple haunted locations, but this one stuck with me. For more context, I wrote about this in detail back in October of 2022.

The Indiana Sanatorium was a massive property that we barely scratched the surface of. The building we chose to shoot in that day was the only building we had an opportunity to explore, and we still weren’t able to see all of it. This place truly felt like it was left exactly as it was when it became abandoned years ago.

With many old properties you will often find damage done to them; not by general aging throughout the years, but by the lovely humans of the world who take pleasure in destroying them. This place has been beautifully preserved by Gregg and his staff at the Sanatorium, and I had such a great time shooting there.

One day (soon I hope), I would love to have an opportunity to go back and further explore this unique place. For now, I still have the memories from a very chilly October morning that still creep me out when I think about them.
