Hello Patrons! First off, if you've come for the Saturday $20+ post, I put it up on Wednesday for the sole reason Sylvie is really dang popular.
I just did a mini tour of Portland, Seattle and Columbus OH, doing 9 shoots with a variety of amazing models. It's a huge range of material, from the kind of trashy character stuff as seen above, to noir-is black and white to instax collages to gir...

Hello patrons! Doing a little experiment with my Etsy shop by having a huge 40% off sale, literally 40% off everything including all prints, Polaroids, view masters, zines, stickers etc. It is a "buy 2 or more and get 40% off" kind of thing but other than that, no limits!
The sale runs through this weekend, happy bargain hunting!

$40 patrons have been getting zines + 3 instant film prints in the mail (when I have their address), until now mostly those zines have been material I made within the last 4 years.
While I've done some new things via FedEx/ Kinkos copy machine, I've been looking for a way to make a consistently well-crafted product that was more professionally produced, and through MagCloud I found an affordable way to make these comic book-type zines with excellent print quality, each f...

In addition to the zines I just mentioned, I've been trying my hand at some new kinds of media. Last night was my first experience with Procreate and the Apple Pencil and here's what I made whilst watching one of my favorite horror films The VVitch with my ladies.
One is just randomness from the noggin, 2 are characters from the film, one is a self portrait, and the naked lady is using a 3d posing app to generate my model. Today I'l do more experimenting with people I actual...
2020-04-23 18:12:56 +0000 UTC View PostQuick update! I've been making tons of zines and books this year, the traditional was with copy machines and the more elevated trade book material. Also learning how to hack the copy machine near me to get more weird effects.
What I've found though is that I can do short run, quality print publications through MagCloud cost effectively and with the current number of people subscribing here at the $40 level it's gonna work out that they'll get a brand new m...

Hello Patrons! The last 2 weeks a ton of things changed for me and I thought I'd give an update on the going ons of the studio.
Creative-wise, I've been doing freelance character animation, VR art, oil painting, Polaroid shoots, linocut and comics. I also published 2 more books, wrote a bunch of new music and collaborated more with Alina and filmed/ released multiple tutorial courses. I'm not re...

Though shooting is the farthest from most people's minds, I have a new friend @brookcassidy who I met in early March and she not only lives round the corner, she just got a 1988 Ford RV and we've chosen to shoot some neat stuff out in the...

Chillin with Alina in our respective bunkers.
Also, took the time to add some new prints to the Etsy Shop:

Hello Patrons, I'd love to hear how you're holding up wherever you are!
First, some Patreon business out of the way. For $20+ patrons I'm adding a few perks. Beginning in April there will be special analogue film sets each Saturday in addition to the usual weekly Saturday Sets. For a while it's just been 2 extra sets a month, usually instant film related, but I've got a ton of 35mm/ Medium format stuff and it's of a similar flavor, and I also want to g...

Hello Patrons! I started writing this all cheery before Spring Break and a week later, I'm trying to finish writing it in a coffee shop in San Francisco in the midst of a virus epidemic/ hysteria/ thing I can't control. I'm about to go do a shoot with @kisahues, then one tomorrow with @haleythonen in Sacramento, and I made a video vlog covering work I did earlier this week with @sylviemix and @anagcorbi in Joshua...

Hello patrons! I've just made a series of publications summarizing the last several years' worth of series - I think physical books, zines, tradebooks, prints etc. are essential to being a maker. Digital products are so ephemeral and cannot make the same authentic personal connection to an audience or even create an experience the way an artist intended if you're leaving it up to the viewer's experience. What I mean is, if someone sees an image of mine on Instagram, it's nex...

I had a super spontaneous and brief shoot with Riley at the start of December due to my trip falling exactly when she was working her day job, but she still came and killed it in 30 minutes!

Hello Patrons! I'm so looking forward to 2020 as a more stable year for me personally and the 50/50 chance we as a species could be done with Trump.
This year I did more model shoots than I ever did (mostly with brand-new people), did more freelance work and sold more work on Etsy and changed jobs more frequently and drew more than I ever have and made a number of songs with Alina for a music project.
I didn't do as much video, tutorials, YouTubing or animation...

Shot in the basement of a Portland bar with Lynette Brooks in late November! I'd shot in this environment a few years back but the work was unreleased when the model at the time thought it was too dark and weird. Glad to work with someone who feels differently!

This is an animated documentary short that I’ve been working on and off with for 2 years, finally edited for what would have been my hero Phil Ochs’ 79th birthday. It’s told entirely in his words and it the story of a humanist and idealist artist at the end of his life and struggling with what ultimately is a suicidal depression.
I'm personally dealing with stuff not that serious, but particularly how we as concerned artists respond to huge cultural issues that our min...

Heather aka @shysugarglider is a Seattle model + hmua I've worked with 3 times this year, but this was our first "real" studio one! So nice to not have to put up with Seattle weather for once!

One final shoot this year with my good buddy Riley in Seattle, with 4 minute makeup by @shysugarglider and about 5 minutes of studio time. All of these are for sale, signed by Riley and myself, in my Etsy shop!

These medium format images were done around Mesa with Adele Brooke and her dude. One of the major pieces of art I fell in love with this year was the "Read My Mind" video by The Killers, directed by Diane Martel, and I've been seeking a similar aesthetic even though that takes place in Japan, I definitely borrowed location and pose ideas from that for this shoot.

Hello patrons! I'm back from San Diego, shooting with long-time collaborator McKenzie Eckels and her new husband Beau DuBois, where I did a combo of medium format, digital and Polaroid. The medium format is a result of a long term rental from a company called Parachut and the above image is a sample of that work. I'm hoping to make enough of it to be an "on purpose" book project, very real and grounded material, none of that hyper fancy digital stuff, more involving relation...
