The primary change here is the update to PRP, and some previs related changes to the Cambridge Police Station and Ameria Rising 2, that should hopefully fix some previs related bugs reported in the discord.

LitR 7.0 has been out for a while now, and is relatively stable. I don't have any large plans for integrating new content into the list, and my two goals for the year are to 1) generally slow down on development a bit and actually play the list, and 2) focus more on Radfall than the base list. Radfall is generall in a pretty good state currently. I'm happy with the full release, however there are a few minor issues I've had on my todo list for a while, however none of them are high priority. ...

Combat and Healing
In Radfall, the player has a lot more health, and combat should not generally feel super lethal. Horizon players should be familiar with this strategic resource-based rather than tactical balance approach. The sweet spot Radfall tries to hit is that you can get through most encounters without dying, but you do have to use healing resources, and you need to prepare for difficult encounters. This is specifically to fix the tactical respawn-until-you-get-it-rig...

Happy New Year Everyone! And happy 3rd birthday to Life in the Ruins!
It's been a pretty crazy year, kicked off by the launch of the Fallout TV show, which lead to the busiest month I've ever had running support for the list, and lead to some major changes, including the removal of SS2, and changes from Nexus that lead to the creation of Radfall. While the year's seen a LOT of changes for the list, I think it's generally been for the better. The removal of SS2 lead to some pretty crazy...

So far, this is shaping up to be an update to integrate a few things that have been on my todo list for a long time. The big ticket item here was the regeneration of LOD with the FOLIP update.
For testing, the main thing I'm looking for feedback on is that the LOD isn't screwed up anywhere.
Radfall users can use this with the 7.0.2 radfall.

The primary thing you need to do if you're removing A Forest from the list is to regenerate LOD. If you're already familiar with LOD generation for Skyrim, the process is similar, however this is a detailed process, with a lot of steps to follow, that can be a bit finicky.
If you're removing A Forest, you may also want to disable the "LitR Green Landscape Textures" and the "Lush But Not Green" DC and Goodneighbor mods.
To generate LOD, just follow DoubleYouC's 2024-12-21 21:10:20 +0000 UTC

Check what version of LitR you are running - e.g. in the picture below the version is 7.0.2
Go to the Radfall post matching that version, download the two files, drag and drop them into the downloads tab in MO2, install and activate them. They should overwrite the complex sorter files already in the list.
It should look like this

I've finally got an updated pre-release for 7.0.2. The only major change compared the the prior prerelease (other than bugfixes), is the inclusion of Art of War. I think I've solved all the known issues, and baring any major issues, I'd like to push this to a full release in a week or two.

This is an updated script for patching mods to work with Lunar Fallout Overhaul. It's built on top of the previous Weapons and Armor patching scripts, which have been merged, and I've added power armor patching with my Power Armor Perks fix as well.

The Radfall load order patcher is a scripted fo4edit patcher.
To install the script, download the file, unzip it, and paste the contents into fo4edit/edit scripts folder.
To run the script, load your entire load order in FO4edit (without the sorting patch, if you're using M8rs Complex Sorter), and run the WTF - Radfall script. The script is reasonably user friendly if you're at least comfortable using xedit. Feel free to ask for help in the discord if anything's not clear.

6 new weapon mods. 8 new power armor mods. 6 new location mods. And America Rising 2.
This is a beta- I've not done any testing on this beyond making sure it loads in game yet, and this is a big update. I'm looking for feedback on balance of the new content, and of course on any bugs. Especially on the quest start for America Rising 2 - I'm strongly tempted to level lock the start of that to level 10, or quest lock it to after killing Kellog, given how early i throws some relatively sca...

The next LitR update is shaping up to be quite a significant one in terms of new content. I expect once this is out it will need quite a long pre-release period for testing. I'm hoping to have a prerelease out in the next couple weeks. Right now, I'm investing quite a lot of time into improving the scripted patching tools I use to simplify my workflow. It's going well, and I'll have more to share soon.

Adding new Settlement mods to LitR isn't hard, but there are a few pitfalls to watch out for if you're going to do it.
The first is Previsibines. A lot of modern settlement mods include regenerated Previs, and that's going to potentially conflict with the other previs mods in the list. Most mods will say on the nexus page whether they include new previs/precombines- if they do you should open it up in fo4edi...

This is updated for the LitR 7.0.1 full release.
I'm considering this a release candidate. All the major features are complete, at this point it just needs it's tires kicked to make sure there aren't any bugs I've missed.
The only real changes compared to beta 2, are around Power Armor. Repair, mostly carrying over T60 and X01 changes from LitR into the patches.
Update: Fixed an issue where vendor lists weren't being filtered properly, resulting in them having almost no inve...

So it's been a busy few weeks of development. LitR 7.0.1 came out this morning, including a handful of bugfixes and cleanup with the goal of getting the list into a relatively stable state. It is my genuine hope that with this release is that development on the list slows down, and lets me focus on other things for a while. I know, I've said that before...

Here is a selection of User Requested Patches, that I a) have had time to make, and b) think more people might want. If you want to try a patch, feel free to suggest it over in the discord. If it's something small, I might do it. However I don't really have the time to patch this against entire other load orders or huge overhauls (but I'm happy to help you do it).

Life in the Ruins ships with a handful of settings that tweak elements of Survival. If you want to use Radfall outside of LitR, I recommend making these, however they are fully optional.
Damage And Loot Rarity
Within LitR, these are both handled by Lunar Fallout Overhaul. If you're not running it, you will probably want another mod to handle combat balance, and loot rarity, as Radfall doesn't touch either of those things.
LitR includes XCell, along with face-generation by VEFS. If you've added mods, and NPCs in those mods are missing heads, this is an indication that they need facegen data. This can be generated pretty easily with VEFS- The tool itself is actually dead simple to use, but the fact that we're 1) using a stock game folder, and ...

Here's an update on the Radfall Beta, built against the 7.0.1 prerelease.
I'm still working through PA balance, I think I've got it more or less where I want it with the changes in LitR 7.0.1, and what Radfall does on top of that. The T60 should be brotherhood specific, the X01 is unique and hand-placed in the world, and both decrease fusion core drain pretty extensively (although I've nerfed their armor pretty heavily).
Repair perk reqs have been tweaked, and raider PA no longer ...

A couple updates, and a few tweaks to Power Armor progression. T60 is now BoS only, and the X01 is a single unique suit scattered actoss the commonwealth. Both are easier to repair and have reduced core drain- the idea is that instead of just having higher defenses, they're improvements in efficiency compared to the T45 and T51 respectively.

A massive overhauled and finely tuned Fallout 4 experience. It is designed to rebalance the game with the goal of making the game less of a sandbox power fantasy, and turning FO4 into an actual survival game, without turning it into a grindy simulator you need a spreadsheet to keep track of everything. Instead of just adding more "survival" mechanics, it slims down and rebalances the existing vanilla game, to make it so surviving the post apocalypse requires engaging with the world, and manag...

As mentioned in my previous Dev Blog, I've decided to take the main list in a more vanilla direction, and develop all-in-one solution for players wanting the kind of more niche, survival experience I've developed in v6. Radfall is that all-in-one overhaul. Radfall started as a compilation of all my survival mods: Stimpacked, Loaded Out, Barter, Degrade and Salvage, Feast and Famine, as well as my perk overhaul True Perks- so if you like those mods, then chances are you'll like this. It is a s...

Quest mods are potentially the most complex type of mod to add to LitR, primarily because they're basically compound mods, that can potentially include mutliple types of content that requires patching. I've already covered weapons, armor, and power armor, food and chems, and workshop settlement crafting in this series. Have a look back at the previous articles for how to patch those. You've also got PreVis to worry about, as quest mods often make changes to the world.
In addition to the...

As per my previous Dev Blog, this is aa extreme paring back of the list to a significantly more Vanilla+ status. Coupled with this change will be the eventual release of a new, all-in-one overhaul that will combine the major parts of my various mods, which can be run on top of LitR, or (in theory) on top of any other list.
Older users may recognize this as basically an updated version o...
