The State of Things - GPZ Update

Just wanted to keep you guys up to speed on the project and where I'm at :)

GPZ Part 6!

Hey guys! Hope you enjoy the latest episode of the GPZ series.

I told myself the deadline for this video would be today, and unfortunately that required me to pull an all-nighter to get it done. That also meant I couldn't get it out a day early for you guys, so I'm sorry about that :/

I'll strive for better time management next time! Right now, I am going to go crawl into bed. Thank you again for being here. Love you all.

Please just ignore this video and post altogether. There is a dumb joke in part 6 of the GPZ series and this is just me committing to it.

Thumbnail Help! - Please Vote

Working on the edit for Part 6 of the GPZ series right now, but I took a break to do the thumbnail. This is always one of my least favorite parts of the process. I never want to make it tooooo stylized or click-baity, but I also want to make it as enticing and inviting as possible.

I tried a uniform colored background on Part 5 and that has been my worst performing video haha (which is why I changed it). Of course, a lot of factors affect video performance, but I'm still wary! Wha...

GPZ Part 5!

Normally, I finish the edit and get it uploaded at almost midnight (my time) the day before public release, but I actually managed to get this one out to you guys at a reasonable time haha.

I hope you enjoy it :)

Update - Talking to Myself

I did a little test for a skit for the next video and it is dumb and I wanted to share it.

Even though I've made sketch comedy videos on YouTube since 2009, my dialogue skills and conversation flow has never been super fluid/natural so I wanted to actually try to do that this time haha. This test video ended up being way longer and more conversational than the final product you'll see in the video but oh well.

But yes! This means Part 5 of the GPZ series is coming out soon, ...

GPZ Part 4!

The 4th installment is out!

Thanks for being patient with me, guys. Here, I said I was going to upload every other week, then changed to every 3 weeks, and now this.... Granted, I was sick! Unfortunately, I still wasn't quite over whatever I had when I recorded the narration, so if it sounds a little off to you, that's why. But, I am feeling a million times better now. Hopefully next video goes a lot smoother!

Also, I show off some new merch in this video! As always, "PAT...

Lazy to the Max - Adding Patreon Supporters Names to my Videos

Take a shot every time I say "basically"

Hello! My buddy helped me out my designing a really cool way for me to add the list of all you guys to the end of my videos. I was excited about it and wanted to share!

You guys know I love you all, and now the whole world can know I love you all :)

GPZ Part 3!

Heyo! Here's Part 3 of the GPZ series :)

So much for sticking to that "a video every other week" schedule, huh?

At least it's still quicker than the two months between average that the Fiero series had! I think I may have been a little too ambitious with this new schedule, so I think I'm gonna try to keep it at 3 weeks and see how that goes!

Currently filming Part 5 of the series now, so hopefully I'll have some more updates for you guys soon!

How I made the digital TV scene! - VFX Breakdown

I said this in the post announcing this little scene, but I had so much fun creating this. This breakdown video is about 1 month overdue, but better late than never!

I know a large portion of you guys are here because of automotive related content, but I hope this can still be of interest! I think the core of what I love doing, and hopefully what you like about my videos, is the problem solving that's done and the "if someone else can do it, so can I" mentality. Both of those thin...

Charging Change: Per-Video to Monthly

Hello! As the title suggests, I’ve updated the Patreon payment schedule from per-video to monthly.

This has been planned for and talked about for half a year, but I finally made the change right before uploading Part 2 of the GPZ series. I mentioned the change in that post, but I figured making a separate one stating this clearly would be best.

For the people that have just joined and never experienced the per-video payment, thank you for joining and please ignore this post ha...

Part 2 of the Kawasaki Project! - GPZ Revival

Heyo! Here's part 2 of the GPZ Project. I had a whole lot of fun editing and working on this episode :)

I realized I never made a breakdown of the CGI tv/room from Part 1 like I said I was going to, so I'll do that next week! I had so much fun doing that and can't wait to share the process. Also if you guys are interested in the new graphics/animations I've been putting in this series, I'd love to talk about that too!

Last but not least, I just updated the payment schedule for Pat...

GPZ Part 1! - First Episode in the New Series

Heyo! I finally finished up the first episode of the GPZ Series, and I don't think it could have turned out any better. Not trying to sound egotistical or anything haha, but I'm just very happy with the end product. Hope you guys dig it too!

Honestly, I think I had more fun with the creative process on this video than I did on any episode in the Fiero series. Maybe it was because I tried out new things like animated graphics or the CGI tube TV.  I guess a good way to put it is that...

Baby's First VFX - GPZ Update

Hello! If you've seen on Instagram, I've announced that the first episode of the GPZ series is going to come out on the 23rd, 1 week from now. I should be doing things like actual editing, but instead I've spent a full work day on a 15 second long scene that makes things only slightly cooler haha.

There's some footage from the 80s that'll be shown in the episode, and I thought it would be fun to have it displayed on an old CRT TV! I haven't owned one of these in years  so the easie...

The Bike Lives! First Start - GPZ Update

Wowee, I don't think I've ever owned a vehicle that started up as easy as this. My past motorcycles have always required a decent amount of cranking and/or lots of choke at minimum, but holy wow this was immediate! It was practically begging to run.

I would've considered this an absolute win if it didn't puke coolant and if there wasn't a massive fuel leak... Maybe don't re-use 35 year old o-rings? That'd be smart. I've already ordered replacements for those so no worries!

Carb Overhaul - GPZ Update

The GPZ Project is going so well! I mean, there has been countless roadblocks, delays, and mishaps, but isn't that what makes this fun? ... No? It's not? Oh.

But! The carburetor is back together after a full-ish tear down! I was going to say this was the first time I've ever fully rebuilt a set of carbs, but I just remembered I did that back when I was working at Common Motor Collective. But this is the first time for a set of 4! So that's something. I say "full-ish" because I didn't re...

There's a Pulse! - GPZ Update

He lives! Kind of.

The engine is by no definition: running, but it's also by no definition: fucked.

I got this bike to fire up for the first time today! There's no fuel tank installed and I haven't touched the carbs at all, so it was just running off of the starter fluid fumes. There was absolutely no way it could've run any longer than it did.

This thing seems to have been fighting me every step of the way, so to hear it actually run, albeit for half a sec...

Next Project Started!

Heyo! Not only have I already started the next project, but I've also filmed the entirety of the first episode!

If you've been here for a while (hello newcomers!), then you've seen this bike before in some update videos. But if you haven't: this is my 1986 Kawasaki GPZ1000RX. Much like the Fiero, it's another red oddball from the 80s that I think is worth sharing with the world.

But unlike the Fiero, it wasn't loved by a family for years only to become an OEM time caps...

The Full Restoration! - Fiero Time Lapse

Just because the algorithm overlords do not particularly like my infrequent posting schedule, especially so when I do about half as many mid-roll ads as YouTube suggests I do, I had to do something that would please them! This time lapse video is hopefully that. Similar videos to this have performed very well, so I'm hoping this one will do pretty well too!

The finale episode has been my worst performing (revenue and views) video in the series. I thought that was super interesting! Espe...

Fiero Finale - The Last Episode

Thank you, everyone. Thank you for following along with me and also for being patient.

With the physical car being done almost two months ago, this video should've been out much, much sooner than this.

Part of the reason it took so long to make was honestly because I was so overwhelmed from worrying that the video wouldn't be perfect. With the intention that this is indeed going to be the last video, no more ever on the Fiero, I wanted to perfectly wrap this in a bow, but I ...

Saving Big Bucks! - DIY Bulb Socket Repair

Hey guys! In-between writing, filming, and editing, I found a pretty fun way to procrastinate, and I thought it'd be worth sharing with you all here.

Elyse just got a brand new (to her) 2015 Mini Cooper S! His name is Dale. Dale was only $7500, which is crazy because you really can't find a current gen Coop (F56) for below 10 grand, at least here in Houston.

The End is Nigh - Update Video

The Fiero series is coming to and end, so I just wanted to show off the little details that finished this car off, as well as some other little problem areas.

Besides that, there's also some future talks in here! Worries, future plans, and things of the sort.

Thanks for being here. I Hope to have a more concrete idea of when I'll have the last video out soon. I'll keep you all posted!

Fiero Shakedown - Small Road Trip

IT'S DONE! Well... 99% done... I'm still missing two plastic lug nut caps, a few screws for the fender liners, some rubber pieces for the hood, and the "Fiero 2M4" sticker on the back. But by and large, the Fiero is done.

I still have so much more to film (all of those things I mentioned plus driving footage and finished B-Roll beauty shots), write, narrate, and also edit in order for the video to come out. As a closer episode not just for the project, but also for what is a chapter in ...

Small Mistake!

Hi, hello! If it wasn't clear, I have my Patreon set up to be charged per upload, instead of a monthly fee. With that, I have to manually choose what Patreon post is supposed to charge you guys. I was running on fumes last night after working so late, and I accidentally forgot to tick that box for the post. So, here is me posting now to amend that.

I feel weird about doing this though I know I shouldn't because it would've just been done for the original post if I didn't have poo ...

Fiero Part 14 is finally here!

What a wild time this has been. I planned to get this video out a month ago! I had it all filmed and the script written, but then I had to go and film and edit the radio repair video. Burnt out from editing so much, I started final assembly on the car. When I finally got the will to edit again, the Texas freeze happened and I lost power and water for many days.

This past week has been a blur, with my days spent almost entirely in at my desk, eyes locked on my screen. BUT IT'S OVER...

I'll be posting this later on Instagram, probably tomorrow, but I wanted to share it here first for you guys! It's a simple shirt, not an in-your-face kinda design, but I still really love it.

And I really love you guys too! So if you do decide to pick one up, use "PATREONPAL" and get 20% off! It actually applies to any listing on the st...

Fender Liner Repair!

It's been a while since I made one of these, so I thought this would be a great opportunity! Basically, joyriding around in the car with it not completely put together isn't always has taken its toll. The tire rubbed completely through the fender liner...

Not to worry though! It's honestly a very simple fix. So come along on this little journey with me into the world of superglue and epoxy.

Fiero Radio Repair Video!

Februrary Update!

Hello!  I am just now realizing I haven't shared an update video/post in quite some time. So much for sticking with the weekly vids, huh?

Truthfully, there hasn't been toooo much more done than what I showed you guys in the previous update video. As far as Part 14 goes, there's been some suspension work, a little bit of cleaning, a few gremlins chased down, and script writing. My gosh, so ...
