Grocery Getter Extraordinaire

Now, the Fiero may look pretty much exactly the same as it did at the end of Part 13, besides the addition of the fender liners, but I assure you that it's quite different!

As you all know, from the the previous update video, there's been a bunch of little tasks that I had to do in order for the car to truly be in tip-top shape and, more importantly, functioning properly and safely. So because of that, I used being out of coffee creamer an excuse to actually drive this car! It's great. ...

New Year Update!

Hello! Hello to all the new faces around here and also all of the old and middle aged faces. Just wanted to share with you guys what the progress has been on the car.

I'm realizing right now that I completely forgot to mention that I HAD TO DROP THE FREAKING GAS TANK AGAIN to fix a broken fuel level sender. It actually wasn't a fault of mine! So that was relieving but also super annoying.

Oh well, all is good and I hope the same can be said for you guys.

Fiero Part 13!

Thank you so much for your patience. This episode was supposed to have gone out this past Friday, but editing, among other things, took a lot longer than expected. Hope it was worth the wait, though! Part 14 should be pretty quick to come out, and then the Finale video will follow soon after.

I sincerely appreciate all of you for sticking around. Love you guys.

My Work Here is Done (For Part 13)

Filming is wrapped! The bulk of the work was actually wrapped up days ago, but I had just a few little details to work out today. But hey! It's done! The work at least. I'm sure there's still some random little footage I'll need to film for some B-Roll while I'm narrating...

I didn't want to make these photos super glorious and ruin the beauty shots that'll be at the end of the video, but I still wanted to show off the progress :)

The interior is wrapped up, the mid/rear body pane...

(Tail)Light(s) at the End of the Tunnel

I wish you could be here in person to see this. I can't begin to describe just how excited I was when putting the rear of this thing back together.  Granted, there's still some more I got to do (that I'll be doing tonight), but I just couldn't not share this photo right now.

I'll be sure to show more in an update video this Friday! Until then, I'll be out in the barn. Holler if you need me!

More Panels on! - Progress Update

I've been working on sooo many little things these past few weeks, but I finally have some nice progress to show for it!

I forgot to say it in the video, I'm just now realizing, but the headliner is wrapped up and the hole is "fixed"!  Besides that, the seat belt buckles have been re-built and painted, door hardware restored, mirrors rebuilt, and now finally some installation of body panels!

I may have said it in the video, but I am thrilled with how things are tu...

Fiero Shifter Rebuild! | Saturday Projects

Ayoo! Hope everyone (that celebrates it) had a wonderful thanksgiving holiday, and also just a wonderful past week. I posted on Instagram a few days ago asking if there'd be any interest on seeing the process for cleaning up the shift mechanism that I very, very quickly glossed over in Part 12. So here's the whole thing! Can't say this is an action packed episode or anything like that, but it's still pretty neat. Hope you guys dig it!

PS: Part 13, if all goes to plan, should be out in e...

Fiero Part 12!

I've been editing non-stop since Monday, and I finally finished the episode. There were a few bugs in the export, causing me to have to restart a 3 or 4 times. Sorry for the delay! I wanted to have this video out to you guys 24 hours before everyone else, but it looks like I only managed 12 hours :/

The good news is that I've already completely filmed the next Saturday Projects video, and will be spending next week editing that! With it being a lot shorter than a full length episo...

3D Printing A Custom Air Filter Bracket

Here's a little project I worked on yesterday! Ever since I originally got the blasting cabinet, there's been a slight issue of not having a quality/functioning filter for it.

It pretty much fell apart and broke off right after getting it set up due to it being damaged in shipping. If I was using the shop vac for dust extraction, too much air was being sucked in from outside the cabinet instead of just removing the dusty air from inside. And if I was too lazy to set up the vacuum, all t...

3D Printing Meets Fiero - Plastic Trim Repair!

A while back I attempted to fix the driver side seat reclining mechanism cover, but it didn't last too long. While JB Weld isn't a cure-all, I tried to treat it like one.

I'm currently revisiting interior work for the next episode, so I thought I'd get around to fixing it properly this time! Instead of relying on just epoxy alone, this time it's 3D printing, superglue, adhesion promoter, and a plastic-exclusive epoxy.

I kind of glaze over the CAD modeling in this video, but ...

Major Progress! - Roof is Back On

These past few days have been an emotional roller coaster ride of butyl rope, rivets, and shattering plastic. But, I think the ride is starting to smooth out.

I'm sure I'll talk all about it in the next episode, but the gist of the story is that the butyl rope I ordered (for adhering of the roof to the chassis) is too thick. The roof was sitting way too high off the frame when installed. I took everything off and ordered thinner rope. It was too thin... So I had to double stack i...

Back to Black - Update Video

Trim painting is coming right along! The largest parts were the hood, decklid, and front and rear bumpers. With those wrapped up, it's now just a bunch of little things, mainly all the little side moldings and the underside of the headlight doors (which I forgot to mention in the video).

In the last update video, I showed  some paint/bubbling issues with the decklid. It was really messed up, but today I finished up with the repairs! It's ready to be painted again for the (hopefully...

Trim Paint!

As you guys know, I've been finishing up the last bit of paint work on the Fiero. The toughest part for sure was definitely the trim on the front and rear bumpers. The decklid and hood were, comparatively, extremely easy. Just running tape along the edge of each panel and spraying the underside black was simple enough. Also, the stakes weren't all that high considering the part of the panels being painted will essentially never be seen.

For the bumpers... Oh boy. These parts are on full...

Just When You Think it's Over...

It's always something... If you're wondering what's been taking so long for an update, this should shed a little bit of light on that.

From not doing a good enough of a job sanding causing pinholes to be evident, suicidal mosquitoes,  all the way to unforeseen consequences from repairs prior.

At this point, the re-painting of the doors is done and they look great. The underside of the decklid has a fresh coat of paint and also looks great. I have a plan on repairi...

Hello and Quick Update!

Hello! There's a lot of new faces around here after the release of Part 11. Firstly, let me say thank you so much for even considering to join my Patreon. That really means a lot, and helps immensely too.

This is just a quick update letting you all know the current state of things, as well as some of the work involved for Part 12. There's going to be a whoooole lot more than what I talk about here, but I'll be sure to post updates about those too :)

Here it is! Part 11 of the Fiero Revival

It only took me two months (when I thought it would be 3 weeks) to get this video out, but here we are. It was definitely the most stressful part of the project, so hopefully everything going forward is smooth sailing.

Thank you so much for your support and patience. Hope you guys like it.

Painting Will Be Done Today!

Well, all the painting that will be shown in Part 11 will be done today. There's still some panels I have/want to re-paint for the quality to be up to my liking as well as all of the little trim pieces that need to be painted black.

But as of right now, the only thing left is the hood! I just finished up painting both of the bumpers yesterday, and the results are pretty great. Again, there's always slight issues that seem to plague me, but it's nothing too bad. Just a little bit o...

It's Always Something - Update Video

If you've already seen my Instagram story, then you know that there was an indecent where the decklid fell when painting it, causing two corners of the piece to get really messed up.

If you haven't seen my Instagram story, I am sad to say that there was an indecent where the decklid fell when painting it, causing two corners of the piece to get really messed up.

That really stinks a whole lot. Honestly, really smelly. But on a happier note: I repainted the front fender...

Left on the Cutting Room Floor

Unfortunately, this joke did not get approval. I'm still seeing about keeping the first half, but the last remark definitely has to go, even though I don't want it to haha.

I figured before it was thrown into the abyss away from the eyes and ears of the public, I would share it here so it could be appreciated by a few.

Edit: To be clear, Matt thought it was really funny but didn't think the Eastwood Execs would dig it.

More Painting and Polishing

I posted some photos a few days ago showing some issues I'm dealing with. Mainly, the bubbles in the clear coat.

I attempted to wet sand and polish the roof (the worst offender), but that didn't go all that well. I ended up burning through the clear and into the base coat. Not good. I ended up having to repaint the whole thing, though there isn't a whole lot of surface area to worry about to be honest.

The issues weren't as bad on the rear clip of the car, but they're still ...

Update on Painting

So far, painting the car has been going really well, all things considered. With that said, I'm definitely having my fair share of issues. Luckily, it's really only on the clear coat, and it's things I can definitely fix!

In addition to the parts I've already shown, I've now painted the rear clip

One Last Repair - The Epic Conclusion to the Roof Series

I mentioned in the last roof repair video that there was one more thing I had to do in order to call this panel fully fixed!

If you recall back to part 8 of the series, I had a mishap when removing the roof. Not the fact that I spit it into four pieces, but that the sunroof seal brackets, which do double duty as what secures the roof to the chassis, were rusted through. The embedded bolt attached to the bracket rusted apart and was spinning in place. The only way to get the roof off was...

Fiero Painting Round 2!

Was this a success? Maybe. I definitely don't think that they turned out bad in any sense, so that's a win I suppose.

HOWEVER. There is major orange peel on these parts, but especially so on the passenger side door skin. Yikes. It's really bad. That's okay though! I'm not sure if I said anything about wet sanding and polishing, but I am going to do that. My mind was actually set on not doing either of those things since a little bit of orange peel is completely normal, even from m...

I broke the roof, so let's fix it!

If you ever have your chop-strand fiberglass roof lying around close to the floor in a tight corridor that you have to walk through, don't.

I totally tore the roof in half. Again. But that's okay! More behind the scenes stuff for you guys, right? This is another one of those videos where it's something that has to be done, but isn't necessarily worth taking up time in a main series video showing and explaining it. Hope you still find it interesting/enjoyable though!

Update on things and things to come!

Scope creep is very real it turns out! I have been so ready to just slap on the panels after paint and call it a day, but there's a lot more to do than just that. Also, I am waiting on more paint to come in, so I'm currently at a standstill for progress on that. I still have plenty of things to occupy my time though.

First Round of Paint!

Oh. My. God.

Guys. I was so anxious cleaning all the parts. I was so nervous mixing all the paints. I was so tense the entire time laying everything down. BUT IT WENT SO WELL.

There's orange peel out the wazoo but I literally could not care to do anything about that. Unless you're right up next to the car, there's no way anyone could tell. This isn't a show car by any stretch, but I'm sure it could always be buffed and polished if I wanted.

Either way! I am...

Fiero Part 10!

The bodywork has been the longest and most excruciating part of the entire Fiero project so far. Let me just say, it's a hell of a lot better watching it happen than doing it in the moment. And by moment, I mean over two and a half months.

Lots of blood, sweat, and tears went into this. Mostly tears though. Enjoy!

The end is in sight! - Update Video

I originally titled my update series here "Talkin' Tuesday", then just started calling them "Tuesday Update". Now that I'm posting on Wednesday, I don't even know what to do anymore.

But! Bodywork on the Fiero is done! Part 10 is almost done! There's still the script to finish, narration to record, and literally the entire video to edit, but boy oh boy is it almost done. There's actually still a little bit more to film (some random shorts to narrate over and stuff involving the de...

What's been going on? - Tuesday Update

Things are moving along, albeit slowly. But, I'm almost there! There really isn't that much more work to do before I start laying down some paint. Still a bunch for sanding, and filling, and sanding, and priming, and sanding... did I mention sanding?

Gaskets! Gaskets Everywhere! - New Saturday Projects Video

Heyoooo! I had this idea for a video at the beginning of the week and thought "Nice, that'll be a quick and easy video to knock out for Saturday of next week." Then, I thought "actually, what if I just push myself and get it done in a few days?"

And here we are! Video is done hours before it's to be released to the public (classic Ronnie). But hey! It's a fun one. This one has way more tutorial and concept overview vibes than a typical video from me. Usually it's just "hey look wh...
