So, I've been transferring old files to our new machine, and I've downloaded just about everything I believe we are going to need for the future to it including Unreal engine, and Houdini. The only thing left to put on it is zBrush, which I'll have to wait till next month to afford, and substance painter, which I've purchased, but can't download till January next year lol But, I'm really excited about the prospect of going from poly-modeling low/mid characters to sculpting hi-def charac...

So, little update on the status of everything. Like I said earlier, I decided instead of spending $2000 on a computer to instead spend $1000, and use the rest on zBrush. With the help of the community on advice for what type of parts to look for and what was affordable, I was able to get the following parts for under $900 :)
I just wanted to say thank you so much to everyone here for supporting the channel each month. I really wouldn't have been able to afford a new machine if it wasn'...

Wasn't going to talk about Topology originally, but, there were so many comments in the last video wondering about it, so I figured it was probably a good idea to cover it a little.
Hope it helps :)

Probably my longest tutorial, but I wanted to create the best examples I could possibly think of to demonstrate my low-poly modeling workflow. I hope this information can jump start your experience as you dive into the world of modeling :)

Just wanted to share some thoughts about December. The Modeling series has turned out to demand every single bit of extra time I have. Completing this series on time is my highest priority, so I've temporarily halted working on all other side activities like the anime shader.
I'm fairly confident though that we'll be able to finish the Modeling Series within the next 2 weeks, and with that extra week, I'm going to try and create a small animation based on a short little fan manga...

So, there's A LOT of stuff I'd like to hit before we close out the month. Finishing the modeling series takes priority, but I'd also REALLY like to do a short animation test once/IF the Rokoko gloves arrive on time. I have a fun little idea for a short animation project, and it's also a great excuse to test the Anime shader we're developing lol .
We'll see if we can squeeze that in before the month is over, but that's the plan-!
The next tutorial is almost done. With any luck, I'll ...

Well, Squad, that was a tough month - I didn't realize how many how much philosophy went into the modeling process until I started writing the scripts for each video. Was a very different style than usual, but I hope you all enjoyed it - You'll be glad to know that starting next video is when we'll get our hands back on Blender and I'll walk you guys through how I generally model characters and things I keep in mind when I'm preparing them for game development :)
A warm welcome to all ...

So, I think we're about 1 month into seriously diving into Anime style shading. And, I'd like to share some of the things I discovered about it:
1st, Anime shading looks best in mid-high poly. Contrary to what I thought originally, this is not a low-poly art style. Technically, you can get away with a mid/low-poly body. But, if you want the hair and face to look right, the face and hair generally have to be fairly high poly. Otherwise you get that "cheap" anime look.
2nd, if you...

These 3 designs we're the most picked for the Witch Class Poll. Now, what's funny is I feel like these 3 designs we're picked for very different reasons, but that's the beauty of character creation lol.
The RIGHT Witch had I think 4 secondary votes, and the others had 2 primary votes each. After reading all of your explanations, you guys did bring up some good points about the RIGHT girl, something about her style just seems so ... bright? lol Seems like the kind of character I can se...

Well Squad, it was a really close call between Assassin, Witch/Wizard, and Archer. Witches & Wizards winning out by literally 1 vote lol! So, the Witch class will be the first one we work on for our Community 3D model Set! Now, remember we're preparing these concepts so we can get to work on them next year, but I like planning these things way ahead of time -
Personally, I think the 'concept/style' process before you start actually modeling to be one of the most fun, usually when I...

As many of you know we are nearing the end of the Blender Fundamental tutorial series. Once we are done, depending on how close we are to our Patreon Goals, we'll probably do Facial Motion Capture, and if we break 1000, then I have a short "Introduction To Game Programming" series planned as well -
After that, we'll still do tutorials, but I'd like to pivot the direction of the channel to creating useful 3D Animation assets for the community. These will not only include Motion Capture ...

Hey, Squad -
So, as of today, I've completed remodeling our Character- There are still a few kinks I need to iron out, but over all, for a model with zero UV mapping, and 0 normals edited, I think the Anime Shader is starting to look pretty good lol- And, with that in the bag, The modeling series is officially starting :)
The Rokoko Gloves should also be arriving within the next 2/3 weeks. So, as we talked about before. Once we have the gloves, we'll start to build our Free Mo-Cap ...

Well Squad, it's been one hell of a week. I wanted to make sure I had the Anime shader down before we went into the modeling series. I still haven't finished retopologizing/shading the ponytail, but you can see what our new Shader looks like when applied to our Old Model so far. I haven't adjusted any of her normals yet. This is just the RAW shader being applied to our model with no adjustments.
Working with this Shader has really opened my eyes to possibilities I hadn't considered be...

It's very very rare for me to make videos outside of normal Tutorial things. But, I've literally been developing this for the last 24 hours and it's finally starting to shape up- I still have to re-order the variables intuitively in the group node before I put it up for download, but we're almost done setting up the shader now - Hope you guys enjoy!

So, it's time to give Blenda some real eyes finally. I never know how many different type of styles for Anime eyes there were, but man, are there are a lot lol. I've picked 4 that I'm thinking about. Which ones would you like me to try recreate for our Anime shader??
Also, if you have a favorite Anime eye that's different from the ones I picked out, please share them with me in the comments!

ALRIGHT! We've finally arrived at the modeling series! There's quite a bit I'd like to cover but, if all goes according to plan, I'd like to have the majority of these tutorials finished before the end of the month.
That means, we'll be pumping out a video once every 2 days on average. I'll probably take another 2 days to prepare and get a few things in order. BUT, it's gonna be a full schedule this month.
I'll also be putting out a few polls to see what kind of character's you ...

Still doing a lot of testing on the Anime shader. Turns out a key ingredient to good Anime shading is controlling your normals. I've run into a weird thing in Blender though. I'm not sure if this is normal, or if it's a glitch. But, the shading looks fine from a perfect front, side, up, or down view. But from any other view you get real bad shading. I don't believe when the model is exported this glitches happen. Only when working in Blender before Render do you see these. What do you g...

October was a crazy month for us. But, we accomplished a lot. With some luck, we will hopefully have demystified the field of motion capture for many young 3D artists contemplating getting into animation -
