Laerminuial and Estel
A commission for Paul, of his character Laerminuial (whom I drew before, a few years ago) tutoring young Estel in Rivendell. Looking forward to doing this in cool wintery colours. The waterfall will be fun!

My afternoon involved teal, ultramarine, fluff, Chewie, and shirtless Adam Driver. I can't complain. :D
In my headcanon, just as he avoids to call Han "father" and instead refers to him as "Han Solo", Kylo Ren refuses to even think of Chewie as Chewbacca, instead using the multitude of names bestowed on him by Threepio and Leia, from "Hairy beast" to "Walking carpet".
He wouldn't say "Fuzzball" though. That was Han's.

Ahhhh blues and greens! Those look so lovely. Don't get much chance for those in Star Wars (unless it be Naboo).
This paper is still gorgeous, but definitely needs a different approach - it's almost too smooth!

Really, last week I ordered three new papers I'd never worked with just because the names sounded nice and the descriptions sounded good. And I'm having one jackpot moment after the other. The Nuageux I used for Ben and Rey was already fantastic, but this Etival is absolutely gorgeous. I'm totally sold on Clairefontaine now.
Look at those colours, too! ^^

And behold my new name tag! After being shot down over my last one using the Papyrus font, I decided to do one myself. Hand-lettered, yay.

Okay guys, I had a heck of a day. The piece of Ben and little Rey made top spots on Reddit and 9GAG today, and I've spent all day catching up with email and new orders (and ignoring some of the idiocy going on Reddit and 9GAG. 9Gag was easy; I didn't understand half of the comments anyway.

Experimenting with new watercolour papers. This one is Fontaine Grain Nuageux - cloudy grain. It's set up to be a new favourite, at least as long as I've tested the other two of the batch I got this week. ^^
Seriousy though, FRENCH ART MATERIALS. Just can't go wrong with them. Apart from Arches paper. That one hates me.

Had a very Starwarsey birthday, with three books (Visual Dictionary, Concept art of The Force Awakens, and the novel), a Kylo poster from my friend, a Lego X-Wing pilot, and well, the cake was red. And we went to see TFA for the third time. Most fun birthday I've had in years.
I love how this one is turning out. Ben probably looks a bit older than the 14, 15 he's supposed to be, but I got the likeness so well that I don't want to change him...

Since I've accepted the theory that Kylo Ren saved Rey as a child during the massacre of the Jedi temple, there have been a lot of half-formed moments in my head. Here's Ben, already torn between the light and the dark side after constantly being fed lies about what is right and what is wrong, and little Rey.
It's carnival season here in Western Germany - for 99% of the population, that means five days of alcohol excesses, bad music, colour...
