Storyboard complete!

Hey guys.  I had a family bereavement yesterday; I'm going to take the weekend off, and get back to dev work on Monday.

I want to say thanks to everybody for all the insightful feedback on 1.12, here, in PMs and on Discord.  I've been reading everything and your thoughts and ideas have helped shape my thinking on 1.13.

1.12, released last week, was an experiment: here are my thots on how it went.


The situation
1.11 (the university intro) took around 60 days to produce, and still felt rushed. Nearly every scenario was intended to set up some hot optional scenes (like Army cadet heroine getting shagged by half her platoon, office temp heroine flirting with and getting hit on by older colleagues, barmaid heroine being hit on non-stop at work, etc).

1.12 general release next week!

Jesus what a week

Hey guys!  So we just released the early access version of 1.12.

As always, we hit this deadline (which has already been pushed back) without enough time to do everything we wanted in this release.

We have a whole bunch of cool things that are nearly, but not complete: we'll add in as many as we can between tomorrow and the general release of 1.12, which is targeted for June 13th.

1.12 Early Access

Greetings Analyst.  Attached is a playable early access copy of the new version of Female Agent!

Hard at work...

This is it, the final week before the 1.12 early release!

There's still a lot to do – our task manager lists 38 critical tasks outstanding.  😱  I can't say I'm not stressed, but I expect us to hit the target.

This week
My aim was to finish the first writing draft on Monday.  This was actually achieved around lunchtime on Wednesday, but I'm happy to report it was achieved!

Nearly ready...

Hey guys!  I've had a really solid week on writing for 1.12.

In the past few releases, I've been writing right up to the release: which has led to some very unpolished releases recently.  So my aim this week was to finish the writing draft, which would then give me two weeks to polish (and work on other important things, like art and code stuff) before the release target of May 30th.

A greta week

Two week delay

Hey guys.  Sorry to deliver bad news, but I need moar time to work on 1.12.

I was hoping to release it (to Analysts+) on April 30, but unfortunately we need to push that target back to May 14.

We completed several technical improvements this week:

1.12 Week 4 report

Hey guys! This week I finished the prototype of one of the new sex scenes we’re planning to release in 1.12.

I wanted to finish it on Wednesday…but ended up finishing it today. It introduces a few new innovations: mainly a new way to use dice rolls in sex scenes (which affects the whole way the scene is structured and plays out, which is why it took me longer to figure this out than I’d expected).

Reflections on 1.11 & 1.12

Two weeks ago we released version 1.11, the university year 1 update. Like I said in last week's report, I’m not crazy with the way it turned out.

I really like the avatar art in 1.11; I think Victoria did a great job with all the wardrobe changes. Hyneman, Lara and Mihail also did really good work on implementing the new character sheet, and Hyne also significantly improved the dice UI.

1.12 Week 1 report

Hey guys! I was feeling kinda frazzled on Friday, so I took the whole weekend off to recharge. I basically slept, did some adulting, and binge watched Community.  It was fucking great (although seeing Joel McHale take his top off made me want to eat better and exercise more).  I’m raring to get back to work tomorrow morning!

1.11 Early Access

This version is very rough – you'll notice lots of placeholder text and "to do"s throughout.  But it's playable and you get to do some cool things:

One week left until the 1.11 early release!

Last night Victoria finished the wardrobe art.  There are more than 30 wardrobe changes in the next section!  They look greta, she worked her ass off.  :-D

Next week we have a bunch of tasks to complete:

  • The writing still contains a lot of placeholder text that needs to be filled in with actual story and dialogue
  • The wardrobe assets need to be converted from Illustrator format to Female Agent format View Post
