Changelog So Far

Thought I'd post this up here for folks not in the discord. :) It'll give you an idea where the mod is currently headed.

- Traders have an invisible "faction" stat, and will teach you skills as you level it.

- Farmer now unlocks the SMG with mastery and gains craft bonus with it. No longer has craft bonus with shotguns.

- Mechanic now unlocks the auto shotgun with mastery and gains craft bonus with all shotguns.

Progress Update

Realised I haven't let you folks know what's going on with DF, so thought i'd post a quick progress update.

Right now, I think the code base is good. I'm waiting on some other modders to update things (like sphereii needs to fix gotopoisdx and i'm waiting on xyth's updated creaturepack for the NPC's), but most of the mod is working.

So right now, we're basically just testing, fixing issues as they arise and tweaking things. :)

That's how long i've worked on DF today. I got access to the streamer build and i've been working on converting everything over.

Took 2 hours just to get the C# scripts done, the other 4 was XML.

I'm about half done.

Vehicle Mods!

Got some ACTUAL vehicle mods working!

The downside is this new system doesn't work for the tank size increase, the armor mod (have an alternative for this) or storage increases.

But the turbo and eco mods both work. Plus I was able to add a couple of others. :)

All Quiet

Afraid I don't have too much news for you folks. Because I'm currently on b122 of A19, there isn't much work I can actually do on the mod.

So myself and the testers have been... well... just testing. We're looking for bugs, cleaning up code so things run a bit better and doing balance tweaks.

Food/Drink/Loot is likely going to be the priority for a balance overhaul. :) I know it's not much in the way of a post, but wanted to let you all know what's going on.

Watch Update

 Made a harmony patch for the player.  World time is now passed to a cvar, which can then be "read" by a buff.

The watch is now a mod item that goes on gloves, then applies a buff to the player with the time shown.

A19 progress

So, taking a small break from DF to work on a side project. Which is good, because it allows me to experiment with code and such and not worry about breaking DF.

One of the ideas I had is now going to be an extra mod for DF, so i'm pretty happy about that. :) Got a couple of really odd NRE's I need to track down, and found a bug with GotoPOISDX that i've reported to sphereii, so need to wait on a fix for that.

It's slow progress, but there's progress.

Why am I so quiet...

Progress update

Things are progressing, but slowly.

Basically, the lockdown had the effects I expected. The wife isn't doing too well mentally, so I'm spending a lot of time to keep her entertained and as happy as I possibly can. As such, I'm basically working on the mod when she's asleep.

At the moment, I'm considering dropping fishing, because the update to the trader skill system is taking a lot more time than I thought, and there's rumours we're gonna get A19 soonish.

The Real Life Monster

So, my country is now in Lockdown as of about 2 hours ago.

I'm fine. We have plenty of food in and going out to do shopping is considered acceptable. I can also go out to get my wifes meds, so that's all good. Mentally, she is not doing well.

My actual job is being her carer, so that does mean mod development is going to slow down for a little while. It won't stop, because I enjoy tinkering too much, but it will slow down.

Trader Overhaul

I know I put this in the discord, but thought i'd better post it in here too.

This is a WIP of the trader overhaul. The idea is that each trader will have specific skills and recipes they can teach to the player. I've also re-done their inventories a little, so they'll stock items specific to them. For example, all traders will have some basic medical items, Jen stocks the good stuff. Joel (treehouse guy) will have the good guns, but all others will have more basic guns, etc.

Potential V2.51 DEV B2 soon!

There's 2 things left I want to do before I push out a test build. I'm hoping to get that done this weekend.

The first one is fishing. it's more complicated than I expected, so it's taking a while.

The second is a trader quest overhaul. I've got a way to do it that should not nuke player saves, but the reason i'm doing it is because I found out that the update of SphereII-Core allows me to have NPC's teach you SKILLS.

Planning

So now i'm starting to feel a little better, myself and the testers have been talking. Right now, these are the things we're planning for 2.51 or whatever it's going to be called.

1) Slow down player progression a bit to get DF back to how it was in A16.

2) Increase required amount of quests so folks cant just power level through the tiers. 

3) Rework bloodmoon. I have an idea I want to try.

4) Get fishing working.

As i'm sure folks noticed, 18.4 experimental came out Saturday/Sunday (It was out when I woke up 3am on sunday, so god knows when it REALLY came out). Obviously that has thrown a tiny wrench in my plans, so the current idea is this.

The Sound of Silence

So for anyone not in the discord, I apologise for being quiet the past few days.

A18.3b4 went into stable so I went into full "I need to get this out" mode. DF V2.5 Experimental B1 is now released to the public, so they're all happy.

Now, since the rumour is we might be getting a19 around april (and it might be a smaller build too, just bug fixes, vehicle  mods, some new items and new models), i'm planning to slow down a little on the content and focus on getting the mod in...

A18.3b4 and the mod.

So A18.3b4 came out last night.

DF got updated immedately, been testing it today, pushed a dev build to the testers and patreons in the discord.

Glad that didn't take as long as I thought. :) Everything seems to be working nicely so I don't see it causing any major issues. Right now i'm planning to basically keep working on bugs, but I may consider releasing the mod into experimental towards the end of the week.

Rest time

Ok, so being honest... i've had the flu since just after new year... and I've been pushing through it to try and ignore it.

Now i'm definitely paying for it, but i'm also starting to do better. The 18.3 version of the mod is in a pretty good place atm, I just need to do some localization and fix up attachment points on the DEagle.

So my plan is to probably take the weekend to just relax and finish off this flu properly, then get back to it. :) I may work on some of the localizat...

Hydroponics!

 It's a very basic implementation, but it works. :)

The idea is that you craft special seeds from a crop + the super corn. That gives you a seed which doesn't require light in the sense of it checking for the world's light level (so it works like a mushroom), but it does check for special "light" blocks (the construction lights in this image) and irrigation.

It also REQUIRES the use of farm plots, so they have a use now for the farmer. But this will allow players to do entir...

Irritation and Irrigation

This has seriously taken me about 8 hours of coding to get the bloody thing to work.

But DF now has a basic irrigation system. :) Plants will still check for water within 4 blocks, but they also check for irrigation pipes within 3. I will be doing a whole system with this where you need a pump block next to water, and then pipes connected to it and they WILL check to make sure there is a connection... hopefully.

And no, the plants don't eat the blocks like they do with water. :)...

It's currently in testing, but DF now works on 18.3. I even managed to fix the trader NRE issue so the band-aid fix is no longer required.

As usual, I posted a link on the discord for you patreons, so you can have early access to it if you so wish. Just be aware it IS a testing version, but I haven't found any major problems with it.

DF 2.4 Stable and A18.3E

I know I gave you guys early access to stable via the discord, but it's now out for everyone! I did an extra 5 fixes over the version you guys have, but it's nothing major. :)

The Plan For Stable

So build 5 is out, and it fixed quite a lot. Mostly all I want to do now is add perk requirements (for the levels) to perk descriptions. That way, if folks get the "Disabled by status effect" text, they can just check the perk description to see what's missing.

Considering that, the current plan is to try and get the mod released as stable for Christmas. I'm gonna be at home anyways, and that'll be the 2 year anniversary of when I started working on it, so it seems appropriate. :)

Progress Update

So being ill made me take a few days to just relax. Kinda annoying, because I didn't get as much done as I wanted. Now A18.2 is in stable, so what I wanted to do for Build 4 is getting delayed. Thankfully it was mostly all localization, but it's kinda irritating.

So the current plan is to try and get build 4 out within the next day or two, which will update the mod for A18.2. :) As usual, i'll see if I can sneak out a build for you folks 24-48 hours before public, but no promises!
