Inktober 2019 day 1

I have a lot planned for this month, including work that isn't solely traditional pen and ink works, none the less I'll likely do as many Inktober pieces as I can to share. I'll share the 100pi scans as public posts and, if I do any further work with any of the pieces, such as digital colors, etc, I'll post higher res versions in one of the exclusive tiers.

Germane "roundhead" combat taedus ink and tones

Here's a low-res preview of a little Whispers bio-mechanical beastie. Traditional inks with additional digital inks/clean ups, textures in CS3, and screen tones with Clip Studio paint. I'll send up the 400dpi to the 5 dollar tier shortly. Much of the "Whispers" material will have high contrast inking, such as this guy, so there will be more.

My break from posting online, due to the Animal Logic gig, ended up being a good deal longer than planned but I should be back to posting more regularly from this point on. Of course, I can't complain about the absence as I made a nice chunk of, "get back on your feet" money from that gig so I can press on ahead. The money won't last forever of course so I'm very much going to try to get back to growing this little Patreon thing more.

Indus Street View 04 inks

Inked with Bimoji, Faber Castell, Sakura, and Copic pens. These are just the raw inks so they qualify for Inktober. Though I planned to do more "Inktober" stuff I actually ended up doing other work toward the end of the month (digital ink works and some other freelance work I can't post at this time) so, more of this stuff will likely bleed into November.

Inktober TKP Sendai beastie raw inks, save minimal cleanup and levels adjustments. I'll return to this cat later for a more cleaned up version. There are actually several other guys I did in this series I haven't posted yet but this one was done today so it qualifies as an "Inktober"

Heath Wuthering Inktober day 7

Theos KE Polemos I.P.I.O. (Inter-bloc Private Investigations Organization) detective Heath Wuthering inks.

Another Inktober quick piece. Pretty much the raw inks with a little digital clean up. He's, as described; a freelance private investigator that lives in the Nation of Genuaä on the planet Indus. He would be walking the beat of the neo noir mean streets I've posted so far with his taedus partner (combat sendai) Gumbinnen Semms.

As we continue to march into October most folks that follow art on the internets likely know about Inktober, the month long challenge to do one traditional inked illo a day, or at the least one a week. Indeed I plan to drop some Inktober pieces and these are the ones I've done so far.

Vrooma Zoom Zoom...

A peek at a (6 pages of 4 designs each underway so far) collection of 4 Polemon vehicle designs. Here we have some retro future muscle, the line work version (there is a color version as well but I'll post that later).

These were small pencil thumbnails (about an inch in a half or so) I inked with Faber Castel pens. I scanned and blew them up in Photoshop to be then cleaned up digitally. I added a few Photoshop textures as well.

August has been both busy and productive...

A month of sorting out the landscape, both with the work and life without my Father to care for and talk to. As much as the dementia was an issue we did still talk a lot. I'd always try to keep him as grounded in the familiar as I could, both past and present. It was a lot of repetition and routine but it worked for the most part. While his care was taxing at times it became a purposeful routine I got used to. Now, I've eased back to my original working routine and that's been a great feeling, b...

Another low-res full color peek. This guy's all primary color fancy pants. It's been awhile since I did these in full color (the 2013 batch was the last of the full color FOILs I did while caring for my Father early on, when his care was much easier) and it's great to be doing them again. This approach is faster and I'm quite digging the dirty cell shaded results.

A peek at what's in the oven...

While dealing with Consumers Energy replacing an old copper gas line and... finding a gas leak in said line ( very minor and not the, holy damn you house 'sploaded kind) I've been working on various pieces and digging further through a ton of older art. Belting out some new color FOILs is just one of several things on the menu.

Dies Quattra Val combat FOIL new updated inks

As the title of the post says, these are updated inks for an older FOIL design the Dies Quattra Val. As I've said in the into to this Patreon page, there's no lack of already existing content and no lack of desire to create new material... or revisit older work for creating even more additional content. Maintaining the busy groove...

Multiple things cooking in the studio Easy Bake so sit tight, stuff is coming. Work will drop when it's ready to drop but, as I noted last month, August should see the pace continue to pick up, though pacing that pace I will certainly be doing. Here's a low-res peek at a monochrome of one of those sendai critters I posted earlier.

Kicking into production overdrive

First of all, my heartfelt thanks to those of you that have lent your support last month, it's immensely appreciated as you're the first to jump in and help get things started. I always saw this as a slow burn simply because I'm hitting the ground running from almost zero (didn't stop posting entirely during my Father's care but significantly less than I would have otherwise) so there's a lot of online presence momentum to regain.

Finally I have the time to give Patreon a go...

As I noted in the "about" section of my page I'm no longer caring for my Father full time due to his passing, on July the 3rd, from congestive heart failure and dementia related health issues. I am eternally grateful I was in the position to care for him all these years, however I'm now in the position where I have to (gladly and eagerly) return to doing the work I love full time... in order to pay those pesky bills and simply keep the work going.
