Ballpoint Hermaphrodites

I really like hermaphrodites, not necessarily as a fetish, but just playing around with the idea of sex and identity and gender and the 'completeness' of being able to clone oneself or whatever. 

The doodle-session evolved into a species where males are the caretakers of infants and females are the warriors (Basically swapped waist-up skeletons and sex characteristics :P) and all the sociopolitical implications that would arise from that kind of reassignment of gender.

I had a long weekend with a LOT of stuff going on. I made a ton of artwork but naturally the commissioners took it away with them so I have nothing to show AS OF YET, but I was promised some scans so we'll see when those show up.

Health Blues

So back in my mid-early 20s I started to get a tremor in my neck. It was small, infrequent, and so no big deal. fast-forward to now and it has grown to be a very serious problem. I have a muscle at the base of my skull on the right side that for no good reason has just gone utter hambone and triggers CONSTANTLY.  I am perpetually shaking my head back and forth in a 'no' motion all day every day totally involuntarily. Bee Wrangling

Hello all! 

I've had a visitor at my house so I haven't had time to do a whole lot of art, but I'll let you in on one of my side-projects. 

Now, we've been looking at keeping bees this spring, but hadn't ordered anything yet. Suddenly, from out of the blue, a swarm shows up in our yard, on our tree. Providence! These were going to be OUR BEES!

Pileated woodpecker

Just wanted to show you guys some of my local wildlife. 

Pileated woodpeckers are crow-sized birds that mostly feed on carpenter ants and their larva. Now that the ivory billed woodpecker is extinct (those bastards were raven sized!) they are the largest woodpecker in the world.  

This fellow was looking for dinner right outside my workroom window. My roommate spotted him and we crept up to the window and stole his soul :P

Each khimera or khimbit base needs at least 8 layers of linework, shading, extra shading, lighting, highlighting, backlighting, etc. because of the way the compiler puts together khimeras. Reduxes of the original 4 bits. 

These bases require a lot of work. They need the inked lines, 6 layers of shading, light, reflected light, and then each color is its own layer, so that other artists can make a lot of different colored versions. The ones that go into the compiler have something like 20 markings on top of that, and the ones that turn into unique bits can have more than 40 markings and a lot of extra accessories.

Different kinds of Fleur for Khimeros

More work art. These pet bases are actually several years old and are being moved from one of the stalled game sites to the operating one. I needed to make about thirty different markings and different flowers. The other site artists will turn them into hundreds, possibly thousands, of individual, unique images. 

Blacksmith cave

Geez, sorry, guys; I've been hoarding everything. I'll save all the other stuff for tomorrow. 

Another enviro for khimeros. This is the cave the blacksmithing dragon lives and works in. Here's the bare cave itself, and there will be lots of items that can be added in like an anvil, tools, fire, the dragon herself, etc.

So let's say there's a field item, you can then stick the flowers and trees into it, plus animals and whatever else. People's decos can get pretty wild.
