I was recently asked by a friend of mine to contribute some maps towards a stream she's going to be running in October, which requires a series of large scale arenas for reasons that will become apparent if you tune into the stream! This is the first of the maps I'm contributing to the project, and I have her permission to publish it for Patrons only.
I asked her if there was anything she'd like to add, and this was her response:
"See this map, plus NUMEROUS OTHERS (we're trying...

Another map that could easily be dropped into any campaign, but that could work quite well within Barovia for Curse of Strahd - it's mentioned that there's farmland in the valley around Barovia village, so why not include an encounter on a farm along the road?
I've included a variant with a dead horse, as I imagine some folk might like to run the classic 'there's something in the barn' encounter, where the party open the door to find some hideous creature feasting on the remains of the...

One of those maps that can be dropped into any campaign, this is a simple crossroads among the trees.
Thought not intended strictly for Curse of Strahd, it would serve the campaign quite well, and I've included a misty variant to suit that purpose, should you wish to use it! The fact that it's not tied strictly to CoS also allowed me to experiment with the more detailed grass terrains Forgotten Adventures have produced since I started this project - let me know what you think of it! It...

Another map from DragnaCarta's Curse of Strahd Reloaded's landmark series, this footbridge has something of a spider infestation, and any who attempt to cross it are set upon by a number of giant spiders. The dirt paths leading southward lead to a simple wooden bridge, where it is safer to cross, but I didn't include it in this m...

I'd hoped to publish this one a few days ago, but I was struck quite hard by a mystery illness over the weekend, and wound up sleeping for 36 hours over two days. It was an unpleasant time.
But yes - the map! There's no map for Mary's house in Barovia in the adventure, but I thought it might be a nice location to map out for any DMs who like to use maps for exploration, or for anyone who might find a use for a house that might have once been quite fine but finds itself in a ramshackle ...

Hi folks!
So, it has been a long time since I just offered an update on where things are with Aonbarr Cartography, so I thought I'd fill you all in on a few things!
First things first, however - a note of thanks:
I'm constantly blown away by how far the Patreon has come since I set it up; I was ready to give up on the idea of making maps for a living by the end of 2021, but thanks to all of your support, that dream actually seems attainable now. I'm not quite the...

Continuing the 'I can't believe I haven't mapped this location yet' series, we have the Gates of Barovia, as approached from the east.
A lot of fan-art depicts the Gates as part of a wall, but in the module itself, the gates are only supported by buttresses. The Gates of Barovia, from my understanding, serve less as a defensive measure to protect Barovia, and are more likely the equivalent of a particularly grandiose 'Welcome to Barovia' sign. By that logic, I probably shouldn...

I'm not sure why it took me so long to tackle the Blood of the Vine Tavern, honestly - it seems like something I should've done quite early on, after finishing all the maps in the adventure itself. Well, it's here now!
I made sure to refer to the map of the village to get the general shape of the building, and I tried my best to make it seem like the tavern was once a lively establishment, but the owners haven't quite yet caught on to how sadly empty it is. I've also set places on some...

My most detailed swamp map to date! I started this map on my Mapping Monday stream on Twitch this week - I decided to take the opportunity to experiment a little, using terrain types and plants from the Forgotten Adventures catalog that I've neglected in the past in favor of simplicity. I'm pretty happy with the results, honestly. I've provided a version with bare trees and with trees bearing full foliage, as I c...

I've been meaning to return to Yester Hill for a while - whereas with most of the older maps in the Curse of Strahd collection, updating the old maps happened within the existing Dungeondraft file and required swapping out different textures and assets with only some sections requiring total overhauls, for this one, I decided to start from scratch. So, here you have it - the Copse of the Gulthias Tree, version 3.
I've included the axe as a token (and versions of the map that don't have...

Another map from DragnaCarta's Curse of Strahd Reloaded's landmark series, an abandoned boathouse by Lake Zarovich. Perhaps the search for Arabelle brings the players along the lakeshore, seeking Bluto, perhaps the party seek shelter from a sudden shift in the weather, or perhaps they simply find a boathouse by the lake.
I...

Some of you will have seen me working on this map during my Mapping Monday streams on Twitch - it's taken me a while to put together, due to the sheer amount of detail I'm trying to work into my maps these days. I also had to change how I approach my maps to make sure I wouldn't go weeks without a release - working on this one for a few days, switching to something else, and repeating!
Well, I hope the det...

Another map from DragnaCarta's Curse of Strahd Reloaded, a waterwheel attached to an abandoned lumbermill. I decided to include a stack of wood at the end of the mill to convey that the place had perhaps been abandoned in a hurry - I'm not sure how clear that is, so just wanted to clarify here!

An ancient tree
overlooking the sea
begins to pass through time;
it slips through the seasons,
ages, withers,
and dies before your eyes.
During my brief run as a DM for Curse of Strahd, one of my players rolled a warlock who had begun adventuring after losing their wife. The first time the warlock spoke to their patron, it took place in a memory from their childhood together, only it was distorted somewhat.
In the vision, their Patron took the form of the...

When the party first arrives in Barovia, one of the first things that's likely to happen is the discovery of the body of Dalvan Olensky, who is carrying a letter from Kolyan Indirovich. If the party linger long enough here, the wolves whose tracks can be spotted on the ground around his corpse return, and combat ensues.
So, I decided I should probably put a map together for this encounter, and I decided to experiment with including variants that feature fog effects, though I'm unsure o...

This is another of DragnaCarta's landmarks from his Curse of Strahd Reloaded supplement. The landmarks are a fantastic addition to the module - they don't necessary add combat or social encounters, but they do a lot to add to the flavor of the setting and make it feel more alive. After all, Barovia doesn't exist solely for the party's adventures.<...

As I'm attempting to tackle more of the community-created content for Curse of Strahd, I'm going to be making battle maps for locations described in DragnaCarta's Curse of Strahd Reloaded, starting with this map from the path to Tsolenka Pass.
