Medical gel

This is a conversation we've had several times - the gel dries out my skin, and it'll sting a little in the thick spots if I don't spread it evenly enough, so besides alterating between my shoulders and legs, it'd be convenient to have it spread on my back sometimes, too.

Honour in traffic

My partner is a very "honour before reason" kind of a person in general. It's a good thing roughly as often as it is an inconvenience, but like with all things that are an inherent part of someone, you can either live with it or live without them.

Skipping phones

We have no idea how it's physically possible, but no matter how you toss a phone on that bed, it'll leap onto the floor.

The Latch

While this actually happened - fortunately I was only boiling water and managed to rescue it before damage was done - the latch was actually on our new apartment's balcony windows. Attaching the latch to a wall wasn't practical for the comic layout, though, so I changed the location to a floor.

The guitar

My partner argues that he "never learned to play" in the first place so the "again" is wrong, but I'll personally never get tired of the sound. Guitar tuning and gentle strumming is such a soothing, ambient background sound.

Arizona FurCon!

Drunk

I never make the same mistake twice. I do it 4-5 times just to be sure. This may or may not be a public apology to my spouse.

(Neither of us knows what the would-have-been fight was supposedly about. The guy I was talking with did apparently end up reassuring me I'm fine while crying - I have no memory of this part of the evening - so hopefully no real harm was done.)

Humming

Fun fact: I literally do not listen to music when I am by myself, because I always have a song stuck in my head, pretty much all the time.

Jumpscares

I don't mind horror, but I jump at jumpscares every single time.

Bees?

I have never been stung by a bee. I have never been tested, so if I'm allergic to them, I have no idea. They'll eventually get bored and let you be (pun unintended) if you just let them check you out.

Blanket theft

Based on a true story. It had been a series of warm nights, so he had been sleeping with only a cover for a blanket. The first night the weather cooled enough to need a real blanket, I had already wrapped in it.

Surprise nibble

There's a saying in finnish, "the whole body suffers from having a stupid head", which is stated in all situations where someone caused their own physical misery by their own thoughtlessness or bad choices - whether it's having cold hands because one decided against wearing gloves, having a massive hangover from drinking too much, or thinking one could out-stubborn a farm animal. It's a way to say "no offense but you had it coming."

The Anniversary

Confession: Neither of us actually remember the exact time and date of our first date. After our first year together, we checked the date from the old records of our conversation history on the app we met on, but we both neglected to write it down anywhere. Around the second or third year, we had both completely forgotten - we remembered it was 2018, and somewhere in the autumn. Sometimes, I'm not sure if I've actually drawn a comic with the same concept/gag before, or if I just thought of it before months ago and forgot to write it down back then. But the rage loop is still very much real, and I'm yet to figure out how to get out of it.

My seven self-appointed rules of drawing comics

Working on both Foxes and the bigger, more complicated comic, I've made myself some rules about what I can and can't, should or shouldn't do. While the two of them are vastly different from each other - Foxes in Love being an indefinite collection of four-panel strips made entirely digitally in an extremely simplistic style, and A Friend of Caesar tells a full and complete story in a graphic novel drawn with ink - the same rules tend to apply, and I thought I'd share them here:

Working and complaining

Complaining while you work is an important part of the process, to be honest.

Weighted blanket

My boyfriend actually hates my blanket - not because it's heavy, but because the fabric rustles loudly. He says that me tossing and turning at night sounds like a bag of chips spinning in a clothes dryer.

Jogging

Recently we started this jogging app thing, and while my partner keeps talking about it like he doesn't think we'll ever actually finish it, and we'll give up on it eventually, I don't let him. The jogging is enjoyable, we have a nice route to use,  and always feel better after going through with it, so even if he'd try to slide off the routine we've set, I know I wouldn't let him, I need that jog.

The thing is, I couldn't do it alone, either. I've tried to pick up exercis...

Communication

He has an uncanny ability to have an appropriate video clip for EVERYTHING. I think he could carry on a whole conversation with just Clone Wars quote clips.

Baking bread

Breadmaking truly is the perfect illustration of "just because it's easy, doesn't mean it's simple."

Scents

My partner has a downright supernatural sense of scent. Some time ago we were walking down the street through the town, and he says, seemingly out of nowhere, "someone needs to pick those apples soon." I was baffled by this before we passed a house with an inner yard, which had an apple tree. He could smell ripe apples in a tree a block away, in a city.

Ticket rules

Someone told me that apparently the reason for this kind of rules is that people wouldn't try to use museums as a free day care, but picturing a gang of four-year-olds marching in with no intention to pay is much funnier.

Survive, adapt, overcome

Sorry I forgot to post a comic yesterday! I usually post every other day, and I hadn't realised I had missed yesterday before my partner reminded me!

Update on A Friend of Caesar

Progress on my Other Comic! I don't post about it much - the first album is already finished and on my publisher's work desk, but while I wait for them to get the time to start working on it, I'm continuing the second volume, and today I finished shading one panel that I'm probably the most proud of in the whole project so far, and I wanted to share it with you!
