Dressing for the weather

It's that time of the year! No matter what kind of weather you're prepared for, you're wrong.

Old people cafe

Life gets a lot better once you start thinking about what kind of an old person you'd want to be one day. Then you can look at how they got to wherever they went in life and life becomes a road map there.

Bed

Sometimes there's just days when you just can't remember why you're supposed to want to get up and do things.

Contraptions

I've wanted to make a comic about our different approaches to instructions and manuals for some time - when you can't get by without instructions, he'll take care of it, and if you can't get by with them, I'll see what I can do.

Backrest

therapy goblin strikes again

Unfortunately, this series continues. Besides the foxes - and their very minimalist style - I'm having a halt with making serious artistic things.

Ode to drawing stupid things

I'm on a bit of a creative pause on my other, non-fox projects (though foxes carry on as regular!), so I'm trying to use this time to learn how to free myself of perfectionism - which for today means drawing dumb things on purpose. Also the contrast between complicated language and not-even-half-assed (quarter-assed?) art, and the contrast between serious narrative conversation and utter stupidity of the action can probably be developed into a proper form of comedy once I get the hang of it.<...

Butterfly

This is an old finnish belief, actually. One of the earliest butterfly species to wake up in the spring is the brimstone, which is either bright yellow or pale green, so predictions of a happy summer are far more likely than tragic ones!

(What we saw together was tortoiseshell butterfly - not the worst omen you could see!)

Questionbot

I haven't made much progress in my actual projects - I've been working on the next few pages of the 2nd chapter of Caesar while there's some halts on the first album's printing process - so I decided to at least draw some kind of a comic while I'm taking a breather from the other ones.

Self-portrait

I was having a very unproductive art day and figured I would rather make one (1) bad art than no art at all. After someone on reddit asked if they could get this as a tattoo, I figured that perhaps you would like to see it as well.

Reassurances

I do this. The most obvious sign that I'm tired and hate something is that I'll start reassuring everyone that it's fine.

Sweet dreams

Actual conversation we have had. I nibbled on his hair, with no memory of doing so.

Bad day

I can't tell whether someone's tired or angry, and that's probably something I should talk to someone about. People don't get hostile just because they're done.

Trust

Fortunately not based on one specific incident. I just do a lot of things in a way that doesn't make sense to others, so I don't intervene when someone else's actions or instructions don't make sense to me :D

Spicy chips

I'm in the opinion that Pain is Not A Flavour, but I don't easily chicken out from hot and spicy things. The love of my life, however, often deems things "too spicy" when I literally cannot taste a spice in them. He insists that my taste buds have simply been fried.

Dust

(we don't really vacuum as much as we should. I work while sitting on the floor so I sweep my work spot regularly, but other than that we don't really.)

Angery

There's nothing that gets you mad as much as having your plans fail because their success relied on someone else doing their job.

In the end, we had to get our own scanner because the A3 printers of both the local libraries were out of order.

The blanket

That thing is both a godsend and a death trap. Impossible to sleep without, and impossible to escape in the mornings.

Ketchup

I only realised just now that I didn't prepare anything weird for april fool's!

I will also never get to the bottom of why he emotionally needs the ketchup packets.

It took four months and three days for me to finish something that took four months and three days to finish. I'll still have to scan and edit the pages once I get a scanner running, but the physical artwork of the first chapter of my first serious graphic novel is now done, cover picture included!

This will be the cover of A Friend of Caesar vol. 1 - Return to Rome

Rage comic

This vent comic has been brought to you by : Both of the libraries in the city have an A3 scanner, but both of the A3 scanner in both of the libraries are broken. My plans for today failed because their success relied on things outside of my control working the way they're supposed to work. In the end I needed to invest in my own printer (which I'm able to do thanks to all of you <3), so the situation is resolved for the time being, but not before needing to draw a comic about it....

Comic page re-draw

I'm finished with the physical pages of the first chapter of A Friend of Caesar! I drew the pages in a reverse order, and my plan from the start was to re-draw the page I started with once I'm done to see if I've made any progress in art style.

The pages aren't really that dramatically different - I think the first try was better in a lot of ways, I was already fighting burnout at the end of the process and whatever improvement I had made by experience was undone by exhaustion - but I ...

Car repairs

Based on an actual conversation - my job in the light bulb changing was to hand him the tools as needed, and every time he asked fo the screwdriver, I asked which one he wanted, not even noticing that the small one hadn't been used once before we were done.
