Another one based on a conversation we more or less literally had - works slightly better in finnish, since in finnish "grateful" is "thankful", which has different connonations in english.

War Goddess

Another mini construction! It's a bit wonky here and there, but it's my second kitbash put togehter from random Warhammer/Age of Sigmar scraps, and my first attempt at something called Object Source Lighting - a painting effect meant to produce an illusion of a light source within the miniature itself. I tried to give her the illusion of being illuminated by a bonfire at the front, and moonlight at the back!

Lord Ratthew the Worst

I made a miniature out of leftover scrap pieces of Warhammer figurines! No plan, no filler material like green stuff, just me gluing stuff together to see what happens - and then doing the same with painting. Tested a lot of painting techniques that I'd never tried before and didn't want to risk doing to a proper mini, so here he is. Learned a lot, mostly the hard way.

Also my phone camera really, really hates taking pictures of something that small.

Sorry that the comics have been so Warhammer-themed recently, we've been caught in the whirlwind of it for weeks now. But look at the tyranids I'm painting!

Snowfall

First snow never lasts, but I've never seen it land so thick and stay for days! Picture from my old home town from last saturday.

Shop appointment

The original punchline was that we're replacing all the things that I broke, but my boyfriend felt like that would be too mean-spirited. The shopkeeper's moustache is true to life, however. He does have a spectacular waxed 'stashe that I could not leave out of the comic.

Every breath you take

This is, indeed, part of my sleepytime calm-down routine. By around 75-85, he starts twitching in his sleep like a sleeping dog.

Immovable cold vs unstoppable heat

This has not literally happened, but I have seen my boyfriend pick up snow off his car with his bare hands, and have it melt in his palms before he can toss it on the ground. This man was 100% designed to survive an ice age.

Power of destruction

We've had this conversation plenty of times - this time over painting minifigures! We played a round at this game shop - I barely managed to paint my own ones in the nick of time, my boyfriend decided to go with an unpainted one instead of the half-painted one he couldn't do in time.

That time of the year again

I don't know if I've made a comic about this before, but all the same, every year I'm startled by just how loud they are.

Towel preferences

This incident actually happened at the cabin, in the sauna, but I figured that a regular bath would be easier to illustrate in a distinct, recognisable way.

Fun fact: piercings (at least facial piercings, and according to someone else's experiences, nipple piercings) start to burn you if you bathe in an electric sauna, but feel fine in a wood-stove sauna!

Weight woes

We have had this coversation quite often. The first time I saw him irl (we met on grindr, he did not have a picture of himself on his profile), I was astonished that he was the most beautiful human being I have ever seen. He still is.

Autumn leaves golden brown

We did find one on the playground in front of our apartment building - I regret not taking a picture of it, now. It's so nice to see all the creative little crafts that the neighbourhood kids make, sand castles in the summer and snowmen in the winter.

Into the books

I've gotten into Warhammer books recently. I continue to be surprised just how good they are, I've read so much Proper Contemporary Literature that simply does not meet the same standards of quality.

Log hubris

Based on a real incident - the work we needed to do at the cabin was help clear out some chopped-down trees, saving the logs for building material. Surprisingly enough neither of us was particularly sore the next day!

Heating and cooling

Yep, we're going back to the cabin for a week! Not solely because of the colder sleeping quarters, but that is certainly a bonus.

Hearing the call

Based on a real incident - we have now verified that while my boyfriend has a more keen hearing altogether, I'm better at picking out new, unusual individual sounds from the background noise in places like the city.

Hard reset to factory settings

I don't do visual gag special effects enough - and also nothing beats going from having a headache because your neck and shoulders are in knots, to having a headache because your brain isn't used to getting a blood flow in there.

Gentle, quiet mornings

My family never put much priority on my comfort or happiness. I'm slow to wake up, and I grew up thinking that I hate mornings. My sister is the type of a person who is as wide awake as she'll be all day as soon as her eyes snap open, and when we were teenagers she used to wake me up on school days by tossing the dog at me (our old Tessa was enough of a terrier to always land on her feet, claws first, and could be tossed like a cat) and waking up every day having to wrestle a dog's tongue out...

An actual conversation that we've had - not telling the character, we both want to see how long it takes for people to guess!

Watching fruit dry

We did, in fact, get a food dehydrator! And he did a webcam stream of our first test apple slices drying to check on them while we were at a local market event. And for a mysterious reason, someone else really was watching it.

The only thing that didn't actually happen was me being puzzled about the whole thing - I watched him set it up from the start. Blue explaining the whole thing to Green just felt like the most logical way to depict the situation in comic form.

But that was just a dream

And to clarify: I didn't send someone a picture of a pinecone, I physically e-mailed a pinecone.

Arts and crafts

I am, indeed, making a book safe out of an old dictionary! I didn't take before- picures, but I started by coating the cover with fabric from one of my boyfriend's old t-shirts, which I then painted black, carved the pages out and I'm currently in the process of gluing the pages together! I also kept the pages that I cut out, and I'm weaving them into a paper basket. Also made a second wrist cuff out of an old belt strip, jewellery chain and soda can tabs. Helping out

My boyfriend is not a natural leader. He is in fact the opposite. He doesn't want to lead or take charge, he wants to be given instructions and to follow orders. And yes, this one is based on a real incident.

Blanket sharing

My boyfriend doesn't use a blanket during summer, he just has a sheet for cover. But now that it's getting colder, he keeps wiggling himself under my blanket to cling to me for warmth. This is the opposite of a problem.

Finished bracelet!

It's done! It's super clumsy, clunky and awkward, threads treatening to snap already, and a bit of a mess in all directions, but it's mine!
