I'd like to get to know you folks a little better and I thought this would be a fun poll.
What's your favorite genre(s) of Hosted Games/Choice of Games?
I didn't want to limit it to one choice per person, so technically you can pick select as many options as you'd like, but I think it would be most helpful to me if you could narrow your selections to your top 3 favorites if you can. I know it's tough (I read/play all sorts of genres myself).
There's a...

I know some of you might already have these character sheets, but for those of you who don't, pick your favorite. The character with the most votes is the one that will be released to you via private message later in the month.
(I've recently distributed Hedonist, Stoic, Lady Ash, and Origami, so they won't appear as options for a while.)

It felt great to shake off the cobwebs and get some writing done in January! My plans for 2021 remain to finish/submit CCH 2.5 Fun & Games and CCH 3: All Things End even though I didn’t get hardly any work done on those last fall.
I also have a ton of Talon City content in various stages of completion going back for the last couple of years and wove some of that together, so there’s a chance I’ll be including this story in my WiP updates in the futur...

You fine folks deserve to know when to expect benefits, and I think sticking to a set schedule will also keep me as focused and as productive as is possible.
So as I continue to ramp up my creative work with the start of a new year, I've decided to create a monthly schedule, something similar to what Jim Dattilo and others use to great effect.
I'm going to stick to Sundays for the most part to deliver benefits mostly because: 1) weekdays are pretty hectic for me, and I'm guessing ...

Hey everyone! I'm ready to make a big push forward in 2021. My family situation is much improved, and I'm getting regular writing time again! Here are the changes I'm making to the page.
The $1 Support Tier is now called the YAY! Tier, but nothing else really has changed. It remains the general support tier, and it's the tier all of my patrons are in right now. If you want to continue to support my work with no expectation of benefits in return, stay here! Thanks so much for sticking wi...

I'm focused on looking ahead and trying to maintain a more positive attitude about my creative efforts this year. Yes, there was a LOT that happened in 2020 that was out of our control, but I still feel I could have reacted better to the things, especially those related to my attempts at writing.
I've decided to be open about my shortcomings and 'put out there' how I hope to improve myself in 2021.
1) Stop comparing myself to other writers: Everyone's situat...

Personal/family issues are getting better, and hopefully I will be able to launch back into creative pursuits soon!
In the meantime, our pup Oskar wishes you happy holidays while wearing a gaudy holiday sweater that my wife picked out for him.
And I've messaged everyone with this month's freebie, a Very Stoic Christmas and Stoic's RPG Character Sheet. Check your PMs for the links.
Stay safe and stay Specktacular!

I'm still dealing with some family/personal issues but I wanted to make sure I provided you with another character sheet and another short story for this month.
The decidedly spooky Lady Ash is our monthly character sheet, and my (I think) longest short story, By Hook or By Crook, featuring a young Crook out and about on Halloween is the short story of the month. Those will be sent out by private message shortly.
My writing progress has been pretty much non-existent...

I have now concluded that I spent WAY too much time in my home office during August, cranking out 30K+ words of CCH 2.5, plus code, plus some promotional material, etc. I burned myself out big time. I needed time to rest my brain, but I didn't want to rush or short-change the game (which is now over 60k words).
So, I got an extension to turn in my CCH 2.5 game files around Thanksgiving, which means the game won't be out until winter.
I'm sorry if this is disappointing to anyone, b...

Please disregard, it was late, I was tired and so I inadvertently messaged the whole mailing list! It was just meant for one person.
This is so embarrassing! Like a “drunk dial” to my patrons. 😬

I'll keep this 'first of the month' message concise!
For me, September is all about finishing Fun and Games and submitting the files to the publisher. As long as I get that done this month, I'll be happy. Then I can jump back into Part 3 in October.
I'll update you fine folks later this month with a final word count.
Also, a member of our patreon community deserves a shout out! The author of the new Hosted Game "Balance of Superpower" is among us! I won't call them ...

I'm keeping details about CCH 2.5 pretty close to the vest (partially because I'm still writing it!) but I wanted to share the cover image, created by Gloves Belanger, with you fine folks!
Hopefully, you are like, "Uhhh..what is going on here?" because CCH 2.5 definitely mixes things up, but if anyone is able to identify all 6 characters, let us know with a comment below!
Or if you only think you have a couple of them, that's fine too! :)

Like most of us, I probably have more ideas in my head than I'll ever be able to actually fashion into actual products. But it doesn't hurt to think long-term into late 2021 and 2022!
So after CCH3 is submitted to HG next year, what do you think I should tackle next?

The project is up to 22,890 words and should hit 25,000 by Friday. These numbers exclude code.
That still gives me three more weekends for August, so I am very optimistic about hitting 40,000 words by the end of the month, which should get the project close to the finish line (but it keeps growing).
There's still a TON for me to do. I'll report back at the end of the month.
And to throw a little fun into the mix, I'll be posting a poll question in a minute.

Hey all!
August around here is hot as heck, so I'll be staying inside and working (almost) entirely on Community College Hero 2.5: Fun and Games. The plan is to get the game files to Hosted Games by late Sept for a possible publication date in November or December
CCH 2:5 is a shorter game focused on the gang's high jinks and silly adventures taking place over the first fall and spring semesters. Yes, that means some time travel back to when certain characters were still ...

I've written 13,254 words of CCH content so far this month and will hit 15,000 by the end of this weekend. I'm still planning to post an update on July 26th.
I've also been working on some extra content that will likely become a stand-alone "CCH 2.5."
I've wanted to write a few lighter scenes because this is my last chance, but they don't really fit in Part 3 because of the higher stakes, pacing, and new setting. Think of this potential CCH 2.5 as a small collection of...

And not just with the temps in Ky settling into the mid-90s every day for *looks at forecast* the next 10 days.
I need to take advantage of my slightly less hectic summer months (no school for kiddos = no projects and no getting up at 5:30) to heat up my work production.
1) Another CCH3 update will go live toward the end of the month. Goal is at least 20,000 new words, to get the total word count (w/o code and character creation) to 65,000 words.
2) Romance is in the a...

It's up to 45,000 words (w/o code or character creation), so over 10,000 new words from the last update.
Spot any continuity errors? If something doesn't flow, it could be a coding error, so please let me know! Does anything not make sense plotwise? Again, please point it out! I think this chunk of new content is pretty clean, but it's getting harder to go over new stuff as this gets longer, so more eyes are appreciated!
I'll do the next update in Late July, at which time I plan t...

1) The CCH3 update is still set for the evening of June 28th, and I’m on pace to hit 50k words (w/o code)
2) I’ll be posting the CCH3 steam image when I get home tonight! CoG wants to have the story available for wishlisting later this summer, and a year in advance is fine with them. I have to write some marketing copy and some screenshots. I’m still shooting for a late summer 2021 release.
3) I need to pick up my pace, at least 20k words a month. If I ...

2) Karl Sia is working on the CCH3 Steam cover; I'll post it if it's finished this month.
3) Speaking of Steam, I'll likely submit the Steam cover image, some screenshots, and a few blurbs to CoG (per their request) this summer so they can create a Steam page for CCH3 to raise its profile, with an estimated Summer 2021 release.
4) After 3 months of sales data for Zip!, it's pretty clear to...

Long story short, (some) Patreon pledges will soon be subject to sales tax.

Issue 9 has reached almost 35,000-words! The next update should pretty much wrap up Issue 9 and set the stage for Issue 10.
There's a lot of "setting up the chess" board" stuff going on early in the game, which will let me ratchet up the intensity later.
For the Americans among you, happy Memorial Day! And to all of you, thank you for your support!

My time, EST, is GMT -04:00
We can keep it audio-only, as that seemed to work well last time. It streams smoothly, there's less awkwardness, and it's more friendly to everyone multi-tasking, which I know we all do.
*When a date/time is set, I'll do another post with Meeting link.

2) Another attempt at a Zoom meeting, if there is interest. If we do another one, I would schedule it on a weekend, probably before lunch my time, to accommodate folks in other time zones and with different schedules. (I'll do a poll to see if there is interest)

Another update this month!
I'm in the process of creating some pre-made characters that will allow you to skip right to Issue 10 when the time comes. Hopefully, that will make reading less monotonous.
And please note, this is not a paid post. I will never charge you more than once a month, even when there are multiple updates in a month.
I hope to finish Issue 9 and launch into Issue 10 by late May.
